We are currently investigating issues some players are having logging into the European PC/Mac megaserver. We will update as new information becomes available.

Please for the love of God take this game back in to BETA Where it belongs

I love the Elder Scrolls series but this game is killing it for me!

There are so many bugs. This game should still be in Beta stages.
Let me list just a "few" bugs that I've noticed so far:
1. Falling through the world, just casually going on your way doing a quest or something, then unexpectedly fall through the world and be in an endless fall, so you have to /stuck which kills you and damages your gear
2. Walking through steps.
3. The countless quests you can't finish because NPCs are not spawning.
4. Invisible walls in PVP
5. Game spontaneously crashing, especially in PVP! the game crashes on average every 20 minutes
6. Making an unusable Siege Weapon in PVP! (Set up a Firepot Trebuchet, only to find out that it is not usable. Not only did I waste gold on buying it, but it also eats up one of the 20 siege weapon slots).
7. Getting off a horse to collect a resource by pressing E and getting back on the horse without gathering the resource.
8. When people mail you Crafting resources, they don't automatically stack in your inventory, and take up more space.
9. When the early access finished, the game gave me an error saying that my login details were wrong (when the error message should have been "You have no time left on your account" or something like that), but WE GOT 30 DAYS with the purchase of the GAME!!! (Money grabbing...))

This game is clearly not a finished product! When you buy a game (and pay monthly for it, you are supposed to enjoy yourself, not get frustrated with game crashes and bugs!

This is one of least buggy launches I've seen of any online game in the last 5 or 6 years, nowadays just being able to log in after a new launch is a challenge most of the time.

It just occurred to me that some of these common issues that have been cropping up sound like Lag/Connection problems to me. In PVP, the only times that Siege weapons failed to work for me were right before my connection to the server went wonky.

And in another game, I can't tell you the amount of times in other games I've seen and heard of Geometry issues popping up due to an iffy connection. Simply too many to count. Something I've never encountered there nor here...

Dang it, now I want to investigate this.

Have the standards fallen so low?!?!

i've played plenty of MMO launches! here is a small list of games that didn't have as many problems:
Dungeons and Dragons online (few minor bug)
SWOTOR The beta of this game was more smooth than ESO on launch
World of Tanks (technically an MMO) NO BUGS AT ALL!
Warhammer Online (for a failure of a game that it was it had a LOT less bugs)
Final Fantasy XIV the game developers actually said that the failed the game and gave everyone free time to play the game while they fix it!

so yeah... this is the standards of games gone down the drain!

Painful "insight" from someone who hasn't been on very many themselves as it seems. I have NEVER seen a game as messed up as this one. Quests not working, items going away like a fart in the wind, the always famous "unknown error" (my personal fav), along with falling thru the world with no way to get back so you're stuck in limbo forever HAHAHAHA...

This game belongs back in beta AT BEST, I'd personally kick it back to alpha to get everything reworked. EVERYTHING from their non existent customer "service", to their botched money grabbing system where it'll take some cards, not others, charge some people 0, but triple charge others for over $170..

Other than that it's pretty, it's the only MMO I've played in first person constantly (that also goes for the console versions as well). And might, just MIGHT have the power to keep pushing longer as a sub game than some of the one's I've been part of. This game ranks right up there with FFXIV (first launch), Diablo 3, and Sim City 4 or whatever the latest launch of the Sim City series was they only have like a billion of them don't they?

They're minor, like a raid boss not dying. Ooo ahh scary it gets fixed usually that instant when someone gets a hold of a gm. There's nothing game breaking like what's going on here. And as @SirJerry said there's bugs that were in beta, reported, and are STILL there. That's just bad juju on their part.

WHat was your last launch FFXIV round one?

Because FFXIV round two was really good except for the login queue, they communicated/updated us and applied many fixes and information while it was happening. Guess what, resolved within a week.

Yeah, they really are that low nowadays, the simple truth is the longer a game is in development the more it costs, so they ship it out as fast as possible and fix it as they go, the new trend is to slap a "beta" or "early access" tag on it and leave it there for a few years to justify the bugs and slow development

DDO, maybe launch was smooth but if so their standards have fallen greatly. They've released two expansions, the first introduced bugs where most bosses would spawn in walls and every quest was uncompletable, this took 3 months to resolve. The second expansion released duping bugs that they left on live for six months.

SWTOR, not sure about it's beta but during launch I disconnected every 5 mins and the staircases were bugged to where you couldn't access second floors and get out of the starter area.

    World of Tanks, never touched

    Warhammer Online, never touched

Final Fantasy 14, I assume you're talking about the original and not a real reborn. Are you seriously saying a game that was so bad that they told people not to pay for it, fired the entire dev team, closed the servers after a short amount of time, and completely re-did the game was better?
  • SirJerry

If it was me I'd fire most of the Developer team for ESO...
they couldn't get something as simple as an Error message right!
I mean "An Unknown Error has occured" or "You have entered incorrect Login detains" when they were asking for more money (Please add a subscription plan). What happened to the 30 days of game time with the purchase of the game. Oh wait you need to make another purchase to get that, that is a bit dishonest and misleading.

Hello Jerry. I see you are new to world of MMO-s and confused at the state of the game.

    Please, sit down and relax.

You see, all MMO-s are buggy at launch. This state may wary from weeks to months. Its simply things that could not be fixed during beta period for various reasons.

Other bugs are a result of server strain. One might say buy new servers, but it actually goes beyond just "muscle". Optimization of code is something that needs to be fine tuned.

Also I see you had some issues that are most likely your own fault.
Like 7. , when you mine a node, you actually have to "take" resources into you`r bag. Not just E / move / hose.

Things like 3. are probably just spawn timers because someone killed targeted NPC before and the respawn timer started.

All in all, as far as MMO launches go, this was a pretty good one.

Same. I've not encountered any bugs that I can recall. I've played through the two starter islands and am now in Daggerfall. I've been running two characters and neither have had any issues.

I'm sure that there are issues, and I'm sure that many of them are being worked on in the background. I expect a moderately large patch within the next couple weeks, or maybe they will continue with the minor patch strategy, hard to say, but I'm sure patches are rolling in to fix the bugs people are reporting.

I felt this launch was pretty good. I ran into some of the issues on the list, but not since beta. Had one issue with the Cyrodiil load screen, but I delete some file in one of the folders got in.

    9. I thought that was a standard for MMO. You get your game time after you set up a subscription. I could of swore it was like that in SWTOR and vanilla wow. Maybe in uo? I could be wrong and I probably am.

What megaserver is everyone playing on?

The problem is they verify your account with the full amount instead of say, a dollar or a penny.

Or they are a pragmatic view that bugs are pretty common in mmo's and that they get fixed eventually. The speed of the fixes is the only thing that varies. We've had a couple bug fix patches since early access started. I wouldn't be surprised by another before the end of the week. It's a launch there will be bugs, some will get a lot of them and some will get very very few.

Buggy at launch how about buggy always just the number of bugs gets reduced and tolerable.

Very true, mmo's always have bugs because they always introduce a few every content patch.

It's not condescension, it's a differing viewpoint, and an optimistic outlook rather than trying for doom and gloom.

It is unusual for them to preauth the entire amount just to verify the card.

Yup usually preauths are $1.00, that's kind of an industry standard for any industry that does preauths. If they were going to do more than this they should have spelled that out in the subscription details. This wasn't an illegal move like some claim, or any type of scam, but it did inconvenience some customers, and should have been avoided.

This game seems to have drawn in a lot of people unfamiliar with how MMOs work. They expect everything to be perfect and given to them for free. This is one of the smoothest MMO launches I have participated in, This is definitely not my first rodeo. I generally don't get a new MMO anymore until after it has been out a month or so. I would definitely tell anybody that taking time off work for a new MMO that they are asking for a lot of free time to sort the sock drawer. This game has enough good things going on that you really have to be trying hard to be bored if a couple of quest bugs stop you so a couple of days off to play isn't wasted.

And #9 - that is a horse that has been beaten to death. Full price authorization might be a bit high, but the basic idea is not novel to this game. The only time you don't have it is once a game has gone F2P (or, in the case of WoW, the first 20 levels are F2P).
