How do you dismiss them without removing the skill from your bar? once upon a time you used to be able to hold the button down and it would unsummon them, doesn't work anymore though...
This has been asked AND answered several times already in this very thread. Oh dear........

While it's annoying that they are flapping in your face, and while I like the idea of them landing when idle, I think the real problem is that they interfere with one's ability to interact with anything. There's no way for me to interact with the Twilight, so why is it selectable? Just make it so we can interact with things THROUGH them.

And let them land when idle, as that would be cool too.

They're magical creatures, right? How about they stay small and automatically 'grow' if a battle begins?

lore breaking... what gets me is they can't be dismissed easily.

C + right click on pet

    How is that not easy?

Not easy at all on console...

    @p00tx

On xbox click start/character/scroll to active affects and hit 'X' on you pet.

I don't think necromancers will have permanent pets.

I know what you mean though. They are so annoying. My main is a pet sorc and they even annoy me. I always dismiss them in populated areas.

That's why, instead of getting guards in kill mode instantly (like werewolf and vampire should), it should just put a tiny bounty on you.

Ah-hah! Thank you! Only my Maelstrom mule sorc has pets, but even those make me bonkers.

I should say, the other thing I've suggested in the past is to give us an ALTERNATIVE summon. In Morrowind (ESIII), Morgha Kul was a summoner. He would summon all manner of creatures, from scamps and clannfear to atronachs of all sorts. So, here again is my suggestion for the summon skills and morphs.

    Scamp
    >Clannfear
    >Hunger (Magicka drain, transfers to caster)

    Winged Twilight
    >Frost Atronach (Slow/Root effects, explodes on defeat)
    >Flame Atronach (DOT/AOE effects, explodes on defeat)

    Storm Atronach
    >Daedroth (Fire Breath, poisonous cloud)
    >Dremora (Spell casting, heavy tanking, badass sword)

Now, their particular abilities would need to be figured out, but I think this is a framework that might let people use the creatures they like best... AND would stop the wings flapping in faces.

Actually I find the damn Warden bears to be more of a problem than anything. I don’t know how many times the beasts are standing on a writ crate preventing you from turning in your writ. There is a way to dismiss them, but I don’t believe many people know about it, or really care. The best thing ZOS could do would be to automatically disable all pets when they are in a crafting zone. When you leave the zone, whatever pets you had active would be restored.

The fix is in the game. Just go to a non popular area.

    A non-popular area with a banker?

Make combat pet owners killable in PvE areas, when pets are running.

The pet should unload once the owner is dead.

It’s even better when you run into an out of region (Timbuktu or SA), bunny hopping Sorcerer in Cyrodiil with Engine Guardian and Flappy bird.

    The server literally weeps.

Actually, I forgot to say, it would be nifty if the pets themselves had different abilities, depending on how YOU were armed at the time of summoning. For instance, if you have a fire staff, they would make fire attacks. If you had an ice staff, frost attacks. If you had a melee weapon, they would make melee attacks.

Of course, that wouldn't be the case if they went with the morphs I suggested above.
