Lots of choices

Questing, storytelling, immersion. I'm heading up on my anniversary here in a few days. I've never played an MMORPG this long.

Much much less grind, always relevant and flavourful gears/items, quests, lore, graphics, combat.

Now..if some cosmetics were priced and designed better ( most of them just reskin) and game's general performance was better, i would say it is perfect.

There are other MMOs? Why?

Account bound gear, guaranteed dungeon drops, outfit customization (I've seen better but compared to most MMOs eso's is very good) and Free builds- (sort of theres still huge issues causing the meta to be far too effective compared to off meta builds)

For me it's the sense or wonder and immersion. I feel like there's parts of game I will never participate in but fact that exists makes world feel Fuller then other games. So guess they do open world the best?

Variety of content is probably what I would describe as this game's strength. Its combat systems are well done too. Though I would prefer more interesting choices when creating your build. But in the modern context it succeeds well at that as well.

One thing I love about ESO is that content stays relevant. I wish the old 16 zones had more replay ability aside from some delve and dolmen dailys and whatnot, but every piece of content they'd put out after launch has some replay ability. Wrothgar has chests and world bosses to farm for loot, thieves guild and dark brotherhood have heists and sacraments to do, the expansions always seem packed with people doing all of the dailys and whatnot...everything has some bits and pieces of content to farm if you decide to chase it.

I'm an achievement hunter, and I try to milk the game of all of it's content to get as many achieves as I can! Of course that means chasing motifs and doing all of the dailys I can muster, ontop of farming for gold, housing...and I don't even do dungeons right now. I should, but I don't. because that's a ton of achievement points to get.

Anyway, WoW kills its new content as soon as they release something new, leaving players with only a few activities to do. I hope you like dungeons, raids, and pvp, because that's all WoW has right now! GW2 has the same content plan as ESO, being that everything is your level, but I feel like a lot of what they add doesn't stay relevant. That, and they've removed a TON of achievements from the game that makes me mad, since if you miss out on them you can never get them again, meaning your total will be lower forever. That irks me.

So, for me the achievement hunter, ESO has tons and tons to do, be it stepping into Vet dungeons hardcore-like, PvPing, ontop of the huge amount of daily content that they keep pumping out makes ESO the obvious choice for best mmo out right now. It's only a shame that much of the mmo community looks at it and scoffs since its not a "multiplayer skyrim", ontop of its bad launch. The game keeps getting way, way better (Zone guide, trade guild changes) if you ignore the lag problem pvp has. Which, uh, is hard as heck to do if you dip into Cyrodil at all..

Quests: It's the only MMO on the market with proper side quests.

The combat is also decent (the only other western MMO with some form of action combat is GW2). Korean MMOs tend to do combat better and have better graphics, but the games are beyond awful otherwise.

Lack of grind is also nice. The only other MMO with minimal grind is GW2.

ESO zones are on a very small scale. Cities are tiny, and you can run across an entire zone in a few minutes. The small scale is one of my biggest gripes with the game, but that's an engine limitation.

Things in ESO I took for granted before playing Anthem. (Even in the beginning)

Content - ESO ad months worth, now I can't even fathom how long it would take to do all quests beginning to end.
Community - populace and visual confirmation of other players
Chat - people have and use all chat methods
Viable Variety - even with meta sets etc, it's not nearly as uniform as other games
PvP - it's an option most don't have
Fundamentally sound - putting on a level 1 staff doesn't suddenly grant you 55k dps. Damage numbers actually matter.
Load screens - at least in ESO you feel there's enough content to justify one
Variety of enemies and spawn locals - you have more than 6 enemies that aren't just reskins of 2
