To all people supporting skyshards , lore books and all lemme say a thing you guys aren't defending any gameplay mechanic or something what you guys are doing is supporting lazy game design. If people earlier have shown dissatisfaction against lorebooks and skyshards then psijic skill line might have been better.Keep your *** up and we'll get more skills like these in future some awesome braindead gameplay mechanics.

It's more like supporting organic power growth rewarded through exploration. You're supposed to grab them as you come across them while doing other content.

You're not supposed to grind away at skyshards with a guide for hours on end. You did it to yourself. Stop complaining.

Unfortunately it's not remotely as simple as you suggest.

Actually, it is precisely as simple as I suggest. I've designed and developed systems like this in the past from both the roles of the Software Designer and the Software Developer.

For a start, the proposal is that lorebooks and skyshards should be account-wide, not all skill points including those gained from leveling or completing main quests.

I apologize for the confusion. I should have clarified in my last post that I had meant only Skyshard Skill Points. Limiting the system to only taking into account Skyshard Skill Points doesn't add any complexity to it, though. In fact, that would make it even simpler than if it had to take into account every source of Skill Points.

I wasn't commenting on the Lorebook aspect of the suggestion, only the Skill Points. However, Lorebooks can be handled the exact same way, too, and it would be equally simple.

Once those skill points are allocated then it is much more difficult to undo them if a player opts to change again - and believe me, if an optional system were adopted as a single flick of a switch on opening the account then there'd be no end of players demanding to be able to flick the switch again later.

I could see players wanting to undo their decision to tap into their account-wide Skill Points under a system like I described. But I also believe that's a different issue entirely. You shouldn't deny a feature because players might want another related feature later on. A warning prompt when activating the account-wide that it is permanent, and a vast majority of these complaints would be avoided.

But for the sake of argument, let's assume being able to toggle it back off was a necessity.

It would still be extremely simple:

Only allow the toggle off when the player has no Skill Points spent. Given that Skyshards found by the individual character would already be being tracked by achievements, which were not part of the account-wide system suggested (even if it were, it'd be a simple matter to track them character-wide and account wide simultaneously), you just: count the number of Skyshards that character has found, divide by three, set Skill Points earned from Skyshards to that number.

You could even add a little complexity and allow the player to set the toggle off when the player has some Skill Points spent if you feel like plugging in the formula to determine how many Skill Points they should have and checking that their spent Skill Points is less than that value.

People are simply asking for lorebooks and skyshards to be unlocked once and then automatically unlocked on all their characters - that's very different from the idea of all skill points being shared account-wide in the way that you describe.

Maybe my suggestion could have been worded more clearly. What I was suggesting was that players be able to opt-in per individual character to receive any Skyshard Skill Points they have unlocked account-wide.

If Character A has all the Cyrodiil Skyshards and Character B has all the open world Skyshards, then Character C, if they opt into receiving them, would have all of the Skyshard Skill Points earned by both Character A and B. And since Skyshard achievements are character-specific, Character C can still hunt down and find the Skyshards they already have the Skill Points from, just without them counting toward further Skill Point gains.

This allows players to enjoy account-wide Skyshard Skill Points if they want to while also allowing players who like repeating the Skyshard hunt on every character to do so.

So my suggestions aren't a different idea at all. They are a programmatically simple method of achieving the goal.
