Players Botting

BexandWill
Hey there, just a heads up on the EU servers in The Harborage, dwarven ruins I've found a group of "players" gathered together standing perfectly still. I've watched them for about 20 minutes now and everytime this dwarven sphere spawns they all attack at the same time in less than a second of it spawning. It's obviously not people just playing the game. I'm pretty sure this shouldn't be happening.

People will farm these mobs over and over cause they drop blue items, you will find this is almost ALL instances.

This includes the ones with Mini Bosses that spawn each time a new player enters the room.

You would be surprised that these are real people doing this, also as a side note naming and shaming is a violation of term and conditions.

screw the terms and conditions.. they are.. we should as well. Although this post could have been sent as a bug report ingame which would have been better. Type /bug in chat ingame.

I'm %100 these are bots. Like I said there's not a second that passes from when the mob spawns till they're attacking it. They're standing perfectly still and anything that walks in the middle of them is attacked. This includes the rat that walks in path from time to time. The same player attacks it when it walks in.

Players getting attacked if they walk infront?? Good thing there isn't such a thing as friendly fire in this game, or else that could get messy quickly XD

You'd be surprised that there are already known bot apps out there that do this for you.
One thing that clearly marks them as bots is the fact that they never move and do the exact same attack over and over down to the millisecond, for hours at a time.

    Them are bots alright ...

Got a group of them in one spot with the templar in front stabbing repeatedly at regular intervals.

I was going here to make this exact topic about the public dungeons on the US server. I'm in Sheogorath's Tongue and there are like 20 sorc with 20 clanfears there right now one shotting the mob. It's a total load of B.S. when you are trying to legitimately kill the thing.

It's rampant on the NA server as well. Something needs to be done about it and fast

Looks like the ESO staff need to look into a better way of tackling this. Maybe if a player hasn't left an area/dungeon for an hour something pops up just to check they're still actually playing. Maybe random questions like 2+4 or what colour is a Banana? easy stuff like that. Just spitballing here.

Yea I've had this happen also and it sucks when you try to kill the boss to clear the area it takes forever.

You do realize this may not actually be a bot right? It could just be farmers lol

Agreed. I also ran into this today in Stonefall. Had to wait for the mob to respawn three times before I managed to get in a hit and get credit for legitimately killing it.

Once you get the respawn timer down, just stand at the spawn point and start swinging with something fast that doesn't require a target. You'll tag it enough to get the reward while the botters power it down.

Hope they are able to fix this somehow ran into allmost the same thing however they were swinging all the time where boss spawned .... can be a G15 cheat though

While I believe as you do (some people are really dedicated), one way to test them is to try to talk to them. It's not foolproof, but chances are if you message something and they don't reply for more than 20-30 minutes they are either AFK or not human. But, if they are AFK, how are they attacking, right?

That's what I mean. It kind of strengthens the suspicion that they are bots.

Either way it shouldn't be happening, more so on boss mobs. Like I said a simple question pops up. If they don't answer it within 5-10 mins then take them back to log-in. If it keeps happening investigate further and if it's found that the player is doing it reduce the accounts they can make, maybe a temporary ban & in serious cases account termination.

Or prevent xp/loot from the same boss within a 10 min time frame or something. people won't bother doing it then.

I have already reported 3 groups of bots on the NA server. They were in public dungeons in Stonefalls at the boss spawn. I managed to wipe one group by pulling a bunch of nearby mobs into their line-of-fire but they have it programmed to use soul shards and resurrect if it dies.
