Hmm...I tried it after reading this, and a misstep led to the unfortunate bloody massacre of every Ashlander in the tent. That's how we khajiit nightblades "jest," and at least I had something to do with one of the 270 purple leniency slips I have in my inventory.
In other totally unrelated news, here's a recipe for authentic Hawaiian Kahlua Pig:
1 boneless pork shoulder or butt roast, 3-6 lbs
3-6 tablespoons kosher salt, or black/red volcanic sea salt if available
Liquid smoke
Optional: can crushed pineapple
Instructions:
Place pork fat side up in slow cooker. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon salt per pound onto pork. If using pineapple (adds liquid and flavor), spread around base of roast. Pour 1 tsp per lb liquid smoke over salted roast. Cook on high 8-12 hrs or over night until pork is shreddable.
Tips: you make use 1/2 pork tenderloin steaks, placed under butt roast, for a lower fat option. You can also cook during the day then refrigerate overnight...the fat will collect at the top and solidify so that you can skim it off.
Serve with traditional mac salad, sticky rice and Hawaiian rolls.
Sorry, princess.

I just walk up - run up pick up and head off, if a guard gets you just pay fine and continue with quest. I have been court on the way to pig and also on the way back it doesn't interrupt quest.
Go to the back center of the cart and target through the cart, you won't be able to walk forward. You never get close enough to the basket to get caught (sneak/crouch of course).
Edit: this is an achievement step (not getting caught) for those who don't realize.

Would prefer an option to also buy. Some of my characters are lawful good and I despise any quests that force thievery/trespassing, etc.
I am aware. However, I find the alignment chart the easiest way for people to understand what I mean when I talk about character morality (since most people are familiar with it).starkerealm wrote: »
I mean, the Red Rook Bandits are bandits and aligned with the Bloodthorn cult, so yeah, not really feeling bad about that. And Silumm is filled with Dominion soldiers while the particular character in question is DC so, again, yeah, I can much more easily rationalize.TempPlayer wrote: »
Ah yes, you do have a point here. Since you don't get a bounty for it though, I do find it easier to role play that my character takes the pig as directed and then brings it back, as a prank.FrancisCrawford wrote: »
I'm not using some other rulebook. It's more that each of my characters have their own sense of morality: some are part of the TG but will not join the DB, others do both. This particular one does neither even though that means she will be short quite a few skillpoints from the storylines and will never be able to get all the achievements in game. It's a choice I have made and can avoid participating in content centered around that.If you wanna play this game using the rulebook of some other game, you'll have to either make concessions/compromises, or not do quests all. They are optional, you see? Do them on your less PC toons. Won't miss much as far as rewards go anyway.Would prefer an option to also buy. I tend to sneak but it often don't work, the time it work I think some has killed of or distracted the npc.Grampa_Smurf wrote: »rotaugen454 wrote: »I just walk up, grab them, and walk straight to the nearest guard, pay a small fine, and continue on with the quest. Yes becuase anyone in a dungeon is obviously evil and asking for it- except us who go in to purge the evil!

The Apple quest item doesn't count as a stolen item, so it won't be lost upon getting taken by a guard.

I could do it last year with my stealthy Bosmer. She is struggling this year. 😑

Not entirely true. At least not in my recent experience.
I’ve been using the “just get a bounty and pay it” approach this year and on two different occasions the guard confiscated the apple when collecting to bounty, so I ended up having to pay it twice. It’s definitely buggy.
