Cyrodiil Strategic Center

Working in Cyrodiil over the last few weeks I have decided to put together a community shared post to help players from any alliance adjust and utilise different modern day strategies or tactics to aid them in Cyrodiil.

The CSC will create a post each week, discussing a topic in which players can input their experiences and knowledge to help other players adjust to a large and complex warzone in Cyrodiil.

So whether you're a True Blue (DC), Bred Red (EP) or Fellow Yellow (AD) this community support post can aid you in increasing survivability in Cyrodiil.

This week we will look into - Cover & Concealment

A two part series.

We start by delving into Concealment, this can actually be quite helpful in Cyrodiil. Cyrodiil's topography consists of dense forests, rugged snow capped mountain regions and vast open fields. Navigation is fairly easy, but Milegates channel the flow of access throughout the land.

When we talk about Concealment, we are talking about how to not be noticed in and around Cyrodiil. We talk about camouflague, why things are seen.

Shape - Distinctive character shapes in ESO, from a distance (depending on rendering) we can make out human shapes. We can determine enemies from the insignia above their heads if close enough.

Shadow - This is a hard one to notice, as everything moves fast. If you are a stealthy character, you may have seen shadows if close enough to other charaters. Especially horses.

Silhouette - Much easier to notice, best example is when characters appear over a hill, they will sihouette on top of the hill. Clearly giving them away. On horseback it stands out even more.

Movement - Moving fast is much more noticeable, when players are riding fast or running fast this can be noticed much faster than if moving slowly. Most players use horses which move very fast.

Spacing - Zerg/Hordes are perfect dead giveaways, huge large groups moving together. But smaller ball groups too, you can notice the spacing between them, doesn't look normal and is a giveaway to their position.

Surface - Shinies, we talk about armor in particular, shine can be a reflection from the sun or light. In ESO it would be an armor design and colour, high bright colours will stand out against something that looks more natural to the surroundings.

Noise/Sound - Stop, Look and Listen. Sometimes just stopping, sneaking and listening can be very useful. Some spells or abilities when casted the players will make noises. If they are close, you can hear them. Giving away their location. Wearing headphones and listening closely can really help in this.

Concealment or camouflage can also assist in hiding out identity. We can use costumes to hide the fact that we are healers or support roles. Healers are targeted throughout Cyrodiil for obvious reasons. Using costumes to disguise our identities can prove useful in combat until you start to use spells that indicate you are a healer.

When to ride or not to ride. This can be crucial, sometimes speed is not everything. Riding to a certain point before an objective and dismounting can be critical to not being noticed. This can give a player an edge over the enemy. Most players ride to keeps, I would recommend dismounting and approaching keeps from different directions if you are soloing.

If anyone would like to add anything, please comment below. This is all to help players be smarter and more cunning on the battlefield and increasing the level of competition in Cyrodiil.

Cyrodiil Strategic Center - Part 2

    Cover

Continuing on with our segment Cover & Concealment, we look into Cover in Cyrodiil.

Cover may be a naturally occurring feature, such as a rock or a tree stump, or it can be a constructed feature, such as a Keep or Outpost.

    TYPES OF COVER

Natural - Trees and Rock Formations.

    Unnatural/Manmade - Keep & Outposts.

    DEADGROUND

An area of ground hidden from an observer because of undulations in the land.

    IN GAME COVER

All in game cover is passable if an Enemy NPC or Player uses a ranged ability (targeted) before you reach cover. The Spell or Ability will pass through walls, rocks and trees.

You need to be in cover first to avoid being targeted. Using cover rapidly and effectively can halt a player or NPC from targeting you.

Effective cover can halt an Enemy from spamming abilities, some abilities require a target to take effect. Rock Formations that give balanced footing can be ideal as players will use these locations to complete continual loops fast to avoid being targeted.

Pets are used as fantastic cover, putting a pet between you and a player can help in blocking spamming abilities as the pet will take all the targeting and damage.

If anyone has anything they would like to share on Cover, please feel free to share in a reply.

    Ha ha hilarious,

Thanks for the Awesome tick, yeah usually that overhead alliance symbol is a dead give away. But at the furthest distance I tend to see a fast moving horse or person before seeing the overhead alliance tag.

Also depends on rendering and lag all that amazing stuff that goes on in Cyrodiil.
