We need guild job boards!

@ZOS_GinaBruno

So I've played a couple of the bigger MMOs and the answer to one question eludes me with each one. We have trading guilds and a whole economy in game to work with, but I've never once seen a true mercenary guild. In other words, a "services for hire" guild.

How would this work? Well you would need a job board, a Facebook page could work for example (but something ZoS could implement would be smoother). A player would come to the page and make a post of what they needed and what they're willing to pay for it. For example; "I need a 5 piece body set of necropotence gold quality, paying 100k" or "need a group to help me farm my earthgore paying 1k per player per run until we get it". A guild member would then accept the listing and carry out the service for payment with a small portion going to the guild hall.

Job boards if implemented by ZoS could work like this: there could be one job board in Craglorn and every major city, any player can approach it and make a listing. The gold comes out of their pocket right then and there and is held until the job is completed. If the job is not completed within a week, your listing comes down automatically and your gold is returned. Any player who's in a guild can then approach the board and take the job, at which point the listing is pulled off the board to avoid complications. Upon completion 2-5% of the proceeds would automatically go to the guild bank of the player that did the job. But DEFINITELY DONT set this up like guild traders with a bidding system, the goal here is a cheaper system with faster turn around on smaller profit margins. Prices are determined by the player purchasing the service, if that price is two low the player accepting the job can decline it and pick another one.

Anyone else ever wonder this? Could be a great way to make gold.

P.s. Sorry if I rambled on a little bit.

Interesting concept. I mean we have the fighters and mages guild that gives us tasks but I think that would be an interesting way for people to make an income while also being helpful rather than harmful.

Realistically though these sorts of favours (help farming) would hopefully come from your guild for free.

    +1 for boosting player interaction.
On the other hand most of this can be done through guild chat while the players are actually online and also the "message of the day" option is there to use if the leaders are ok with that.
Of course a more dedicated option for specific needs could help a lot, I'm just wondering how would that be possible to implement to really be useful in a fast-paced communication system an MMO has anyway.

What a cool idea <3 I'd love a public, ZOS-run version. It might also compensate for the fact that you can never find lowbie, leveling armor pieces on guild traders.

There should be a daily for every guild.

    Fighters, mages, psijic, vampire, werewolf.

Or are there dailies for this guilds already.

Correct! Problem is a lot of players, and most casual players, don't have guilds. Some don't have guilds that are capable of running certain content. I'm in a solid guild for both PvP and PvE and getting a farm group to run something 10x in a row can be daunting, lol. This just gives players one more way of doing things and making money

Now that is an excellent idea for a use of this system! The very premise of this idea came from:

    1) the fact that our economy is WAY too expensive for most new/casual players to afford

    2) Why would I pay your guild 5k p/week so I can charge a premium for my goods IF they sell, when I can go accept 50k in contracts and knock them out in a day FOR FREE while simultaneously helping my guild and other players?

I didn't even think of the lowbies

ESO is the only MMO I've played so bear with me. If I were to accept a contract to make a fancy set of armor, then go about getting it all made. Then when I go to turn it in or send it to the requesting player, what happens if another player who also accepted the contract turns it in 30 seconds before I do? Would I be then sitting on a very expensive set of unwanted armor?
PC NA(no Steam), PvE, mostly solo

    Okay start to finish

-P1 makes listing for a set for 100k
-the game automatically pulls that money from P1's pocket right then and there and places it in holding (a layaway if you will)
-P2 then goes to the job board and accepts the contract. Upon acceptance, the listing is immediately pulled from the job board. P2 now "owns" the contract
-P2 makes the armor, and goes back to the job board to turn it in. At this point, the gold goes to P2's mailbox and the armor goes to P1's mailbox.

If the contract is not completed within one week, the gold returns to P1's mailbox and any losses faced by P2 are their own responsibility... you had a week, what more did you want? Lol

@Jabassa thanks for the explanation. Since you said other MMOs had the feature, I figured there must be a way. :)

So I see no "need" for a guild in there anywhere, perfect.

Can the P1 cancel the request after its been accepted? If so how?
Can P1 make a request that does not involve a gold reward?
can P1 initiate a request if they do not have gold? In the case of the Earthgore farms they may not know how many runs it requires, so how can you guarantee payment in advance?
90% of transactions are not direct Player to Player trades involve a fee (or gold sink) how much would this be? (yes there would need to be one).
what happens if P2 accepts but does not complete the quest?

sounds nice, would be cool if implemented. Would take ZoS 2 years or so though.
What are Natch Potes? Can you eat those?

This is already done in a way outside of the game in communities and with in the game via the crafters guilds. This is a social game and most crafters will be loyal to their guild.

Also, I see it causing problems as using the current mail system how it is. It is not even working right. Losing mass amounts of tempers and having people with their mail full etc....This is why I only craft for other guildies I trust and friends. Crafters get burned way too much and Zos doesn't have the best track record with dealing with such things.

This would really have to be tested on a pts. It would be great for new players if it would work but then again belonging to a good guild does this and much more.

I dunno if services like are really trackable. It would be hassle to implement such a system. However...

marius_buys' Idea is awesome and I've been thiking take the past few days (and just found out someone posted a few months ago). A system like this would help us crafters get more job offers. That's a QOL improvement that I really would look foward to!
