Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

Once again, ZOS ignores player feedback on ill-advised changes. Are you surprised?

ZOS doesn't makes changes after PTS. We're stuck with these until the next racial re-balance, usually every 2-3 years.

I am scratching my head over this. I do not recall any significant racial changes and especially re-balancing before this one.
Where exactly are you getting this 2-3 year thing from?

2 years ago ish Zeni did their first racial passives balanacing. just to point that out there (early day argonian vs yesterdays argonians vs todays argonians) so there has been changes before, just not an overhaul like this was.

Honestly I feel they screwed up on only one race, Bosmer. So now if we want to have a thief we HAVE to use Khajiit, we no longer have two races to chose from. That stealth passive is too strong to do without.

For the rest of the races, I like the changes. Finally I can play something other than an Altmer for a Mag build. Finally I can play something other than a Redguard for a Stam build. Before I could sure, if I wanted to gimp my DPS bad.
Removing the bosmer sneak passive was pointless, should the remove the + spell or weapon damage or the +2000 resources most have because its not unique?

For Altmer, they should done something different like +shield strength as some recommended.
Has some tested if you get magic back if below stamina as in 10K?
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Ya I rember some tweaks. Nothing that I would consider major and as I recall that was not even for all races.

Nothing to declare this occurs every 2-3 years.

Meanwhile, the changes to racial passives happened because "the community" asked for it in the first place...

Seriously, there is just no winning. Someone will always feel ignored, someone will always feel listened to. I'd prefer it if this was acknowledged instead of painting it with an obviously false "ZoS ignored the community."

    no we didnt....

@MLGProPlayer Yes, ZOS ignores player feedback, High Elf needs to be nerfed. It remains the best Magicka race again. And I want to see less High Elves in the game.

I mean, we're where we are with Altmer at least because they listened to feedback.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

5 Bosmer and 4 Altmer characters utterly destroyed in one patch in the most insulting, lore-shattering ways possible. That's 9 out of my 15.

If the "racial rebalancing" in update 21 is a sign of things to come, I don't have high hopes for this game anymore.

Are you surprised that, as usual, ZOS ignored the community?

I like the changes they did, so you gave no option for me to select in this poll.

    Biased poll is biased.

Other than Redguard being a bit over the top, there’s nothing to panic about in the changes.

    Take a deep breath.

    You’ll be fine.

Redguard is actually parsing near the bottom for stamina races this patch.

The racial passives are actually more even from a DPS perspective. I kinda wish the utility passives had come out more balanced, but it is what it is.

Not surprised by the ignored feedback or the lack of communicating with the people who protested certain changes.

I've been pretty clear on what I think about the Bosmer changes. What they did to stealth is insulting.

The addition of the dodge roll+immediate attack combo makes zero sense and I think it is dumb af.

You know that stupid spongebob meme where the letters are all jacked up, thats what they did. The Bosmer passives should now be written like that.

They are, the big dps parse test should be pinned with the header.
An Redguard magic build does 6K dps lower than an Altmer on an 60K parse, you do 15K. No its not your race.
And its not your gear, its you, face it.

CP changes are going to throw racial balance completely out of whack (races were balanced around current CP passives). I'm not sure why they didn't wait to do that first. Or wait, I do know. It's because they have no idea what they're doing.

The community was unhappy how strong altmer and khajitt were, and that dunmer were basically eclipsed by altmer.

So they nerf altmer and khajitt, and now different players have issues.

Hmm...I must live in a different community. I don't know ANYONE that was initially whining about racial passives. There's far more to the ESO community than a minuscule percentage that are forum members.

That being said, after the Nerfmire debacle I decided it was better for my mental health to just ignore what ZOS does in the name of "balance". When the game stops being fun because of all these smart people making "interesting" adjustments, I'll find something better to do.

Dunmer players were (rightfully) pissed off at the changes in 4.3.0. Besides them and Imperials, combat balance was excellent in that patch. But then ZOS decided to reinvent the wheel. They should have just buffed Dunmer and Imperial (and given Bosmer their stealth back) and called it a day.

Balance is objectively worse now than it was in 4.3.0.

    But I'm not disappointed.

We were given three free race changes, plus some name changes as well. ZOS did not have to give us anything.

Paradoxically, they actually did listen to community feedback here.

Anyway, I come from Elite Dangerous, and... Well I'm not exactly a nobody in that community, let's just say that.

You know what happened when Frontier listened to community feedback? It made said community toxic as all heck, and destroyed the game balance.

I used to not see that, but now I do.

Some people aren't going to like what I'm about to say.

"The customer is not always right."

I feel this is especially true in games development. Most common fans just think about how the game can be changed to benefit themselves.

ZOS, as a GM for an extremely large community, has to balance changes for, if advertising is to be believed, millions of players.

With that many players, of course some will be disappointed. Humanity is a very diverse species after all. No two people think exactly the same.

I'm firmly in the camp of "let the developers develop", these days.

Design by committee doesn't work. Trust me, I've seen it destroy a game I otherwise love.
