Arguably, premades are a feature, given that Battlegrounds was pretty much created for the "I just want to small scale, no zergs" PVPers who couldn't find that in Cyrodiil. Its certainly intended to be able to play with friends - premade groups.
And as always, the real question that comes with splitting the queues is "How much longer are players willing to wait for a match?"

Solo players wouldn’t have an issue I don’t think. Premades would be waiting a long time. But look it’s been shown time and again that the whole mixed queue thing just plain sucks. Imo there should be a solo and duo queue and then premades and give premades the option of arranging matches for inter guild or guild v guild stuff. Once you get into higher MMR you get pitted against premades constantly and rarely have a fair match. And not just that but you’re likely, as a solo high MMR queue, to be missing a group member and to be placed with players with a low MMR who have no idea what’s going on and don’t have a chance in hell of standing up to a premade.
The worst thing is you get pitted against two premades that can’t kill each other cause they’re all a bunch of healbots and AOE tanks so they spend the match farming the solo group with 3 people. It’s time ZOS, just rip off the bandaid and do it.
I don't PvP in ESO (yet) but in my humble experience from other games, there is no solution to premades. If elite groups decimate newbs and casuals, they just stop queueing. If queues are split by grouping or rank, que times get worse at least for some people. And if those happen to be most dedicated PvP players, they quit for greener pastures. In a game with no premade groups people still find ways to stack to same side.
And no matter if premade is just random friends or pvp elite., people not in it will get annoyed and complain.
Being in a premade with people one knows IS a big advantage, and having group voice chat on top of that is simply huge. It's a multiplayer game. I'd suggest if you feel annoyed being overpowered by premades, find a guild and friends, premake group yourself and have fun.
