Hello Zenimax!

Game is awesome, been having a blast. I know you guys are working hard to fix everything you can as fast as possible. I do need clarification on this email though:
Greetings XXXXXXXXXXXX,

We noticed an attempt to log in to your account for The Elder Scrolls® Online from a new IP address. If you made this attempt, please enter the code below when prompted in game.

Access Code: XXXXXXXXXXX

If you did not make this attempt, you can ignore this email. Please ensure that your account password is unique, and remember to log out after you visit your account page from a public computer!

If you have any questions about this email, please visit our online customer support center and we’ll be happy to assist you: help.elderscrollsonline.com

Regards,

The Elder Scrolls® Online

As I see it, this effectively leaves me with no options.

I did not make an attempt to log in before this, meaning it's a possibility my account is being targeted for compromise. But it tells me if I didn't make the attempt, ignore the email. However, I am required to enter the code to play, thus conceding that I did make the attempt. I effectively cant do anything either way.

I can enter the code and play, but I think a more fruitful approach would be to tell me if the attempted log in was successful or not. Then I would know (or have a better idea) if I had a keylogger, poor password, etc.

Am I being paranoid? Anyone else have this happening? The first few forum pages dont have much on this. Is this a quirk with having a router with multiple computers that generates dynamic IP's?

Sorry if this has been answered and I missed it.

I think it's hardware id based as it can also happen from other computers you might have had it installed on the network. If you didn't make the attempt, I would consider changing the password. It's not mandatory as the account is safe and the code becomes invalid after 10 minutes, I would still recommend it as it will cut down on the emails you may receive.
