One of my PvP characters is a Bosmer bow ganker. The loss of the "10% damage from stealth" bonus is going to gimp him, because he really does do nearly all of his damage from stealth. It's pretty much a straight 10% damage nerf for him. He's the only one of my 15 characters I'm thinking of changing.

The choice is Dunmer or Orc. I've done some testing on PTS and, given the particular tactics I use, there's no difference in damage between the two. The character is AD, so Wood Orc would make more sense from an RP/lore perspective. But, that Dunmer magicka pool increase is just too much to pass up on. So, I think I'm just going to try to make a Bosmer-shaped Dunmer and put the soul shriven skin on him. I might have to make him stage 4 vamp as well to compensate for the loss of stealth radius, and give him back some stam regen. Good job I didn't build the original character for cuteness.

For those who think "Oh, just make a new character" - this Bosmer character has a relatively high AvA rank, and I don't do many hours of PvP. Getting knocked back from Tribune to Recruit might take me more than a year to make up. One of this character's long term objectives if to make Legate. Getting that extra shade of black is very important, you know.

So actually been thinking about it. Wouldn't that extra penetration help with lose to gankers? Also with health detect you can gank the gankers first...maybe...

The extra penetration is no use to that character because roll dodge brings you out of stealth. I also tested it on PTS, and even with that extra penetration bonus a Bosmer still did less damage than a Dunmer, Orc or Kajhiit.

I very rarely bump into an enemy when we're both in stealth, so that 3m extra visibility is hardly ever going to come into play. Even then I'll prolly be so surprised I'll just run right into them before I can react.

The changes aren't enough to warrant it for me. I'm not going to change a race just to try to eek out another .01% DPS. If I do decide to change one of their races later on it will be for flavor only.

There's lots of reasons to change. Maybe your favorite race wasn't as great as option as it is now or just want to try out a new concept.

The race not being as great an option with the changes is covered with not being interested in trying to eek out another .01% DPS. A new concept is covered with changing for flavor

It doesn't matter to me what anyone else does with their toons and why. They're the ones playing them, they're the ones who need to be happy with them. For me, I like my races and even with the changes they'll all still be good for their class.

Definitely not changing any of my characters' race - heck, if anything I can finally play some of them the way I wanted to (e.g. Khajiit magblade, Dunmer stamDK) without getting any hate from players with their heads waaay too up their - um, craft bags.

Yes, being as I spent money on race change before all of this ***. It really *** pisses me off that this company will charge people for something they can manipulate into being changed and made into something I didn't want. Like ordering a steak rare, the waiter takes it from you, and brings it back well done, then says if you want it rare you have to pay extra for that. rip

My main is a nord vampire that I created in Skyrim and I’ve grown attached to him, so I’m not changing him at all.

The other ones, not going to change their race or anything about them either- except for my Altmer, who’s going to stay an Altmer but go from a sorcerer class to Necromancer when that rolls out.

ESO doesn't have a class change option, so that one will stay a sorc. :)

    ____

The race changes won't make a noticeable performance difference to any of my characters, which is not to say I don't continually work at improving (and do improve in small wonderful increments daily) but rather that I'm not temperamentally inclined to spend the necessary large amounts of time in contexts where the 1% or so difference that would be noticeable via scores or addons would be important. I do marvel at the degree of efficiency end-game players achieve and adapt the theories that make that possible for them in order to improve at what I do, which is mostly soloing content (for instance, there was a time when I avoided vMA but now I'm addicted and run it pretty much daily).
No I meant like, when Necromancer comes out I’m going to take a screenshot of the sorcerers name, then delete that character, then go and make a necro with the same name. Sadly Altmers don’t have black hair tho.

Because I picked the races to "fit" those characters, not for any particular racial or for Maximum Power™.

(I don't believe in "race/class/alliance/etc change" anyway. If you want a different character, make a new one. Worst thing in Diablo 3 was the infinite/easy respec & gaining skills automatically by level. Absolutely no reason for me to make a second character of any particular class, as opposed to Diablo 2 where I made new ones all the time in order to try a new skill build. Of course, I never played D2 for the level-99 "endgame" boss grind. I actually never got any characters into Hell difficulty - was always making new ones. :D )

I create characters. None of my characters are transracial. It's pretty much that simple.

There is one time I used a name/race change. I had a stamina DK built up and was going to redo that character as a stamina templar. Instead of deleting the stamina DK, I decided to name/race change him into a new character that was going to be a magicka DK. The results of that experiment were... less than optimal. Not because the magicka DK didn't work, but because you seriously loose something in the storytelling process if you don't take a character through the leveling process naturally. Eventually I just deleted that name/race changed character and redid him from scratch. It's not a mistake I'll make a second time.

Will switch my Khajiit Stamblade and Bosmer magblade around, probably use them to farm the jester quests with an 100% scroll up to level skills. Will change the look of one Khajiit and rename Altmer.

I main a vamp Dunmer mDK and that’s how it will be staying.

The loss of flame damage buff is annoying as it seriously reduces flavour but the the changes are otherwise fine. Tests on the PTS show Dunmer mDK’s can still parse legit end game DPS - so eh really.

The burning status immunity and extra stam might be helpful in PVP.

I’m good to go next patch.

I RP a WHOOOOOOLE lot more than I do actual content in this game. When I make new characters, I have them in mind as an RP character first, then pick a Class that I feel best suits their character. This has led to a rather silly number of Sorcs on my roster, but it's all good.

Recently I've been taking some of my more-used characters and actually going through the hassle of getting various sets for them so they can actually do content. My most recent one was getting my vamp Breton Magsorc set up in terms of gear and all. I don't bother with meta because I find it more fun to theory-craft my own stuff, even if it's not top raid DPS or whatever, so she has 5/5 War Maiden's/Mad Tinkerer's and Ilambris as the monster set. It's decent enough DPS for the content I do and I'm happy with it.

But all in all, none of the coming changes to racial passives are going to make me change any of my characters. I've only race-changed one of my characters, and that was because I no longer RPed the character as she was for numerous reasons, but none of them were because of actual game-play reasons.

I didn't inherently pick races based on whatever meta is for the class I picked, so it's not going to affect me a whole lot. I mean I'm not overly attached to some of the toons races so if there is a better option then, yeah I'll spend the free change tokens. but it's neither here nor there

I decided last year as I played, read more lore, etc. to change all of my characters to Argonians.

I used to have one Argonian of each class and then had several meta choices among the other characters, but I found myself always enjoying my Argonian characters more and it felt like 'me' in the game (and to many friends that often found it weird when I popped up without an Argonian).

So obviously I was not thinking about the meta when I changed all my DPS characters, even stam builds to Argonian. That wasn't the reason. I was still hoping that with expected nerfs to Argonian tankiness, they would get a little love their DPS side.

Some have said the testing so far is only showing a small difference in DPS numbers, but this first off is wider when you look at all the races and not just the top few meta choices and more importantly - that gap always widens after patches go live and players get their hands on it. Suddenly some tests with one or two food/gear/mundus/class types broadens out into active use of all gear/consumables and classes and we see the real numbers end up being much different than pts testing. So anyone thinking that they are only 1-2K or even 4-5K behind meta race should expect that gap to widen.

In the end though, I'll be sticking with Argonians. It's a shame however b/c if we were allowed to choose our "racial passive" package to go with any race - I don't think a single one of my argonians would stick with argonian passives.

I will be keeping my main's race (A bosmer) the same as I created this character on day 1 of ESO and I want to continue the characters story.

That being said the loss of Bosmer stealth has really got me upset. And it seems that Zos wants everyone to be Bretons and Orcs. So my other Bosmer Warden is turning into an Orc, and my Nord Warden is turning into a Breton. (I had a third bosmer DK, but I deleted him.)

I will "pocket" (if possible) the third race change in the case of future race changes.
