There are tons of threads about performance atm. But I don't think that ZOS can fix this without downgrading graphics. I know, WoW gets a lot of hate because of BFA, but its performance is pretty good but it has potato graphics. I think downgrading graphics would be a simple solution for this problem. What do you think?

Wow's performance is good??? I will take whatever you are having please.

Seriously, world pvp 20v20 groups kills the server and gives everyone a 1000ms latency. I watched a rextroy of him doing 40v40 wargames and the frames would drop so low that it would freeze for 10 seconds at a time to only get a twitch of movement and another 8 seconds of screen freezing. Then combat ended because one side had better instant aoe before the other side could even react. Here's a link

Google "Rextroy 40 v 40" for the video. I posted it on here but removed it thinking it would be against tos.

I had better frames in vanilla wow with 80+ vs 80+ in tarren mill on a windows millennium compact desktop that I had to cut a hole in the case to get a $50 gpu to fit from walmart. WoW has progressively gotten worse every expansion. Maybe if you were parkouring in the bfa cities or just running laps in Dalaran you wouldn't think there are any performance issues but BFA has the worst performance of any expansion so far.

One of the wow devs even put a stop to world pvp because their servers couldn't handle it.

"Bfa's performance is pretty good" is the best joke I have read in a while.

Server issues are entirely not related to graphics.

Silly FPS drop fo no reason at all are rather new, meaning that graphics were not an issue previously, and only serve to prove tat something is wrong.

Still, I voted "other". Because, if they care so little about their customers as to sh*t in every PvE player's boots with update 21, supposedly to "equalize" things, then saying "hey, look, free race change, you can go Khajiit now", it means they don't understand that looks and feel of a character does matter. If it doesn't matter, then might as well go full text mode, or make things so ugly it actually doesn't matter.

Won't help with the performance issue, but that's the only way I could actually not care about my character enough to use a race change token to retain the gameplay they're breaking. Intentionnaly, to add insult to injury.

The problem is more likely related to the sheer number of background tasks, calculations, queries, and other processes, and passive server actions. There's likely a huge amount of optimisation can be done to make those more efficient.

Anyone who works in software will tell you that lag and bottlenecking is more commonly caused by entropy within the workload and kludgey programming. More times than not minor inefficiencies stack to create hard to identify problems that often get solved by A-ha moments dealing with something else.

eso is in CPU Limit most GPu can handle ESO.

Make Reflections low or off, gives 20 FPS Boost when in CPU Limit.

Despite the graphics, runescape felt more real than any other mmo I played. Is it just a childish nostalgia or the fact that there is no risk or real excitement in mmos anymore, maybe its a bit of both.

ALL those problems and performance issues are NOT GRAPHIC BASED. It's the entire Engine that need optimization.
In fact, I have SweetFX and Reshade on. All set on High or Ultra. Tweaked some .ini files. ESO is looking way better now. More vibrance, more details and performance. I do have 80-90 FPS in Rawl'Kha. That never happens with ALL on stock.

It's just optimization. I do this on Fallout 4 also. Tweaking the entire Engine because it's crap.

For real, lowering your graphics isn't some magic bullet. I drop all my settings to lowest and 720p resolution and still drop to 20fps in cyrodiil fights sometimes. Makes virtually no difference, unless you are standing around outside of a fight looking at a wall in which case your FPS will be good anyway.

Zos should do everything in its power to fix the disgusting disgrace that is game performance in the elder scrolls online in 2019. If that means giving an option to change graphics, or just changing them, then so be it. But if im honest i dont think graphics has anything to do with the performance. Eso isnt the most graphically demanding game.. I play games with much better graphics on my PC and xbox that run better than eso.

Either way they will never fix the performance. The issue is something with their server. It cannot handle a lot of players in a single zone, and you dont have to be a coding genius or programmer to see it. Its a problem any time an excess of players builds up in a single zone, but it really shines in the pile of dog *** that we call cyrodil. Good thing for zos that pvpers, and specifically small scale pvers who are impacted most by this disgrace, are the minority. If this game was 75% pvpers and 25% pvers, zos would have a real problem on their hands. Im guessing its more like the opposite, 25/75.

They either dont give a *** or cant fix it, thats the bottom line. And out of those two options we end up with performance issues forever. Thats how i see it and i am embarrassed for them..

What is crazy, and what I don't understand is how my Cryodiil experience can be like this:

Friday Night, stupid crazy ping and lag
    Saturday night, decent gameplay. Playable.
    Sunday night, decent gameplay. Playable
Monday Night, stupid crazy ping and lag

    Why the inconsistency?

I have an OK-powered (Ryzen 1800 with some older ATI graphics) computer - I'd rather prefer to rework graphics for *higher* details.

Comparing "old stuff" to the newer (Summerset e.g.) items makes you cringle, those old items just looks ugly (lacking graphics resolution).

After all, I don't think I have a graphics performance problem - having turned shadows and reflections down. Most of the issues seem to be CPU issues.

The game needs optimizing properly, I can play WoW at 20ping and 60-100fps fighting raid bosses, largescale pvp and enter cities without dipping 60 in eso I can just about maintain 20fps in the eldenroot undaunted outpost, ffs I turned grass off the other day and jumped up 10 fps.
