Now they are sending me in game mail. Are you really not able to detect certain words/phrases and just mute/ban them... >.>

    There's an app for that.

Check out the spam mod on esoui. Haven't seen a single post from gold sellers since installing.

Does it include the mail system? I doubt the API would allow that..?

They are dealing with them. They're suspending their accounts. You NEED to report them though or they won't know. Report them and send a screenshot that includes the chat comment or mail.

I have been reporting all of them I see in chat, and using the ignore function. Haven't received any in the mail yet... but that just gives my another avenue to report them if I miss it in chat! :smirk:

@Nyxx I'm a little confused on the screenshot part, does it take a screenshot the moment I say to attach one, or does it include the last screenshot I took?

When you report the scumbag gold farmer, there is an option to take a screen shot. It should be sending a screen shot of your screen, so they can see the chat window. I usually make sure the spam is visible.

Question tho? Can they ban you for using said mod? I am starting to see some ban complaints already.

No, since it's not interfering with the game client, the game server, etc.

And always take the 'ban' reports with a grain of salt. All you have is the word of the poster.

Thank you after all the hassle we (fiancé and I ) have had to deal with over this game and the money put into this game. I would hate to be banned for using a mod to deal with gold spammers.

Nope, just the chat window, which is half the battle anyway.

No reason to take a screenshot, they should be able to see what someone has said over the last 4 weeks via text logs. There's no reason why they won't have such tools.

As for blocking them.. you could outspam them. Everytime you see a gold spam msg, copy/paste a msg of your own into chat along the lines of

"Earn free gold by playing the game and completing quests, no need to spend irl cash when you get it for nothing. Play The Elder Scrolls Online!"

Or you could just ignore the msgs and keep chatting as though they were never there. That's what I do. I don't buy gold and don't care about gold sellers. It's the people that buy it, that should be banned.. not the sellers for finding a market.

Careful with that. Someone might just read the first few words and report you. I've heard of a couple of people arguing with gold sellers who were suspended. Just block them after reporting them and be done with it.

It's also just a considerate thing to do if you post a screenshot of it as well. Takes one second and leaves less work for an already thinned out support team. Makes it more likely for them to be banned sooner rather than later.

I do agree with you on that though. It's not hard to find ways to make gold in game. The people buying the gold are the ones keeping the gold sellers in game.

Agreed with Nyxx... I don't chat much anyway, but if there is a gold spam, you won't find my name anywhere near it.

lol I request a 1000 gold good faith payment, then i'll buy, then I just report them anyway... yet to get a bite :(

If they use the zone, I block (it reveals their account name) and then report via that.

Re gold spam - go to esoui.com, download SpamFilter, unzip to addon folder. No more spam.

In the mean time ZOS support is watching transactions and banning accounts sending large amounts of gold.

Go to Reddit (or here) and see the ban threads. They're almost all people who have sent gold to other players. In an interview the studio creative director also said they're watching transactions and stats (eg levelling) to keep an eye on abuse of systems.

The app I want for my game is game.

It's their responsibility to fix those kinds of problems. Acting like a mod makes it all rainbows and sunshine is a bit narrow minded. So many problems, so little time..
