Should ZOS downgrade graphics?

There are tons of threads about performance atm. But I don't think that ZOS can fix this without downgrading graphics. I know, WoW gets a lot of hate because of BFA, but its performance is pretty good but it has potato graphics. I think downgrading graphics would be a simple solution for this problem. What do you think?

Of course not! The game just needs better optimising, and they should improve the graphics going forward not nerf them!

I also voted "No" because it's not really a big problem to me as big ping and low FPS happens only on free ESO+ trials, new patches releases and when there are a lot of visual effects.

    Rather other.
If you are on an weaker system reducing graphic settings in trials and cyrodil will be an good idea.
Note that this could either be separate settings on pc, probably automatic on consoles.
Might even be an button or slider.

Don't have much problem myself be saw an guild mate was rubberbanding 5 meter all the time in cyrodil, looked like he was using streak all the time without the grapic effect.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Jesus. Whilst the game is poorly optimised, any user can nerf their own graphics if it's an issue for them, but the game is CPU bound, and the issues people are experiencing now are server based.

They should have an option for console that can turn off shadows and grass, make it really dumb down i bet pvp would see major performance increase if they did

I feel sorry for console guys, I mean I can't standing to play games at 30 frames per second to be honest, but ESO on console is pretty bad, especially in towns and PvP. I don't know how you guys are so patient with it, I guess you're just use to it. I don't see anybody ever complain, and me coming from a high end PC that's the first thing I did when I tried ESO on console lol.

Think the AoE and other magic effects is more of an issue then you have hundreds of them at screen at once.
Reducing quality of them in trials / cyrodil helps, its not that its anything than an blur anyway in huge fights.

Other MMOs have better graphics and fewer performance problems. The issue is not with the graphical quality.

I didn't think I'd ever say this, but I don't actually think ESO runs that badly, graphically. It's the latency and server issues that are the problem right now, and that could be causing some of the problems you see as it is sometimes easy to confuse the two.

^^ This. I love the graphics in this game. The ping is my problem, not the game's.

Turning down graphics won't fix group finder. Or input lag. Or ping. Or stuck in combat. Or infinite loading screens. Or minutes-long character load times with the occasional "couldn't connect to server" (the latest gift from ZOS to EU players). Those all seem to be either server issues or client issues unrelated to graphics. Blaming graphics - or add-ons, another favourite, though it's hard to see how that applies to problems shared between PC and consoles - is often either ignorant or intentional misdirection.

For a game that is CPU bound and not GPU - the graphics option is a non-starter

Players can lower their own graphics via the design of the client. Also, outside of Cyrodiil, most performance issues like very long load screens are attributed to more local issues like slow PCs.

At that, Zos knows they can improve performance and I’m a recent twitch stream Rich deteailed their next step amd acknowledged more needs to be done.

So we don’t need to turn the game into the poor graphics games like FF and WoW have.

Edit: ESO has a significantly ,ore c9mplext system requiring many calculations WoW doesn’t have to make. This adds a lot of load to the game. It appears some of the race passive changes might be a start to reducing the calculations and the server load.

Basically, making worthy suggestions requires an understanding of ten actual issues.

    No.

If graphics is holding your performance back, you have a potato PC.

Even a modestly modern gaming rig can run this game smoothly on highest graphical settings.

The performance issues aren't due to demanding graphics, they are due to bad optimization.

Yeah well we need for players to make zos keep eso for longer, i hope.
Its not like the graphics is awe inspring it needs higher end pc to achieve the graphics.

ESO's engine already makes the game look worse than Skyrim, which is getting on in years. I don't want ESO to get even WORSE than that just so some people can get more frames.

Honestly I have turned graphics down and if I have them up, I can see framerates drop at times, but even down, its not framerates that are causing most of it. You can even turn on the statistics and see FPS stay at 60 when graphics are turned down but the ping spike.
