Why are players allowed to log out in a flagged keep and return when its flipped?

In pvp we are constantly seeking groups of players disappear, often reappearing after a keep flips. We assume they are cheating scum who either power off Xbox instantly or disconnect from router and reconnect, hoping they can cheat and retake the keep because they don’t have the basic skills to defend or take one contested.

ZeniMax - is this the game working as intended?

Woah? That's a thing? It certainly shouldn't be. Sounds like they need to add a check to boot such players back to their starting gates.

What you describe is usually what happens when you lag out. Seen it many times, and have had it happen to me many times... one second we’re all fighting, the next gone and back again. I don’t think it’s anyone trying to cheat. Honestly, it’s a lot better than it used to be. Last year right after Summerset dropped this was a regular thing happening all the time for about a month. It’s improved now, but still happens sometimes.

If you try and log back in and the keep has flipped factions, you will just respawn back at the gate. Chances are they were hiding somewhere in sneak and you didn't sweep the keep well enough.

I once lagged out in middle of defending a keep, restarted game just as I spawned back in, reds flipped it right at that moment and I had to run and failed to escape through the still open door. Never forget that day, my friends laughing at me when I spawned back in, being chased by an army of reds... good times.

I agree with this likely scenario, it was probably a stealthy enemy, waiting for their moment.

It’s NOT lagging out- who is stupid enough to make a thread about that. This is large groups of players stacked and often hidden who disappear and then come back many minutes later

No no no no no. Who wastes the time to write and say there’s cheating going on with stealth. This is deliberate cheating of a hole in the code.

It's when you game client crashes. If you open it again pretty much straight away you end up in the keep you DCed from. If you leave it like 5 or more minutes you end up at your gate or out of PvP entirely if PvP is full. Happens a lot on Xbox (ESO doesn't run too well on a potato).

I fully imagine you could recreate this by manually crashing your client. Never tried it, but can't see why it wouldn't happen.

This is pretty close I think. People have suggested they unplug routers- I find that far fetched. I simply wonder if they turn their Xbox off and restart it with no log out procedure.

We did this on PC-EU a lot. Not by cheating... but if the battle went the wrong way a group op 12 would use the commotion to hide and sneak somewhere in a corner. Sometimes it failed. Most time it worked.

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

To all those claiming lag outs ... Not true ...

On a lag out some players remain and can kill the toon that's left stationary

What is happening here is as the doors go in the players just disconnect from being up stairs pouring oils to reloading as doors are being repaired.

They spawn in at the wayshrine, seen it twice on PS4 EU ... First time I put it down to unlucky timing of fast travel , second time I recognised names of people who were fighting from above but oddly gone once we entered the keep

Haven't figured out how it's done but o suspect it's from the PS4 setting similar to the old Crota glitch on Destiny

    This.

If we have a zerg taking our keep like 30+ vs 4, and there is only that few of us, we sometimes hide inside to hit it from inside after the zerg is gone. Not our fault they are not looking for us but just fast running to zerg the next keep. :D

Sneaking and hiding tactically is a legit way if outnumbered badly.

    And it works.

Logging out will get you spawn at your gate. Only when bad lag disconnects can happen crazy things.

Maybe try search the people you saw inside instead of immediately thinking they using some cheat? :D

[edit] It’s been observed over 50 times in the last 3-4 campaigns. It’s not just on the spawn point. A group of AD players, including some with temporary bans for cheating, all appear on top of each other over a 1-2 min period, stacked behind statues.

[edit]. They spawn back in over about a minute - it’s not a surprise attack from stealth.

That happens all the time when the game crashes on Xbox when your taking or defending a keep and by the time you reload the game you’ve either lost the ap from taking the keep or you spawn back in the middle of 50 enemy players who all welcome you with open knives

I have seen but sadly didn't record 3 players that where under the keep door at warden, couldn't target or hit them ! Awhile later they got out from under the keep , so it is possible that some have found ways to glitch and exploit these

If you are going to come to the forums with insane accusations, you should probably bring actual proof. You should also try to not call everyone who disagrees with you a troll. Just because you think something is happening a certain way doesn't mean you are right. And if all you are trying to do is get a bunch of people to agree with you, go away.

If you get blue screened (usually in middle of big fight) on PS4 & disconnect but immediate log back in, you go back to where you were rather than one of the main gates.

Had it happen a couple of times - but when relog am usually dead on the floor if was in middle of fight - but if just near can log back in keep / wherever. So it can be done, just not sure how to do it deliberately - would mean yanking out internet cable or stupid hard machine shut down - neither of which can be good.

I’m not trying to get toads to croak. I’m raising it to point out to the developers there’s a flaw. I’ve raised a ticket for it too. I’m uninterested in your approval.

Apparently you are interested in approval. Why else would you make a public forum post with outrageous claims. You claim to have seen this 50+ times and we are somehow supposed to take your word on it. You sound crazy because people who probably PVP far more than you have never seen this happen. Instead, we are all trying to tell you that what you are seeing is common lag disconnects. But no, you seem to have a need find nefariousness in every interaction you have apparently.

It's hard to take this discussion seriously when you are calling players who are AFK at towns cheaters:

This is such a huge issue for you and it happens that often yet you never once thought to clip it? It's really easy to do so on Xbox. Have you any proof whatsoever that it's "cheating?" If you've already made a ticket, then what's the point of this thread? You are being unnecessarily combative to people who are just trying to understand what you're on about.
