Recently in pts patch 4.3.3 khajiits 8% weapon and spell crit has been turned into 10% critical damage and healing.

I want to see the community's thoughts on the passive and some potential changes.

Are you in favor of...

HUGE EDIT, LAST CHOICE SHOULD READ AS BELOW

I mean based off of what we have seen.

It's a slight buff to most stam pve (Ay/relequen) builds and a slight nerf to mag builds.

It's small either way. Khajiit was already in a good spot before. So I do not really see the need to freak.

I would love more buffs, as I just play Khajiit on all my stam characters, but if it isn't really a nerf, then whatever.

As a long time khajiit player i've been used to having little sustain and no max resources from my race, having the flexibility to build around these weaknesses by having my crit chance already covered allowed me to do more interesting things with my build rather than just chase the meta. Between live and pts 4.3 I lost a whopping 1 stamina regen, and gained in all other areas resource wise, which was more than enough. The increase of regen and resource pools after that were excessive in my opinion and the sneak radius being 3m is perfectly fine, keep khajiit regen as its weakness and that could work out well, but the more I think about this change the more I dislike it.

Crit chance made crits more reliable, so your damage output between fights was more consistent than what crit damage provides. This also made sets like Briarheart attractive options because as a khajiit your bonus crit rate made the set more dependable and therefore more uptime on the damage buff, again making up for the races lack of max resources. My main is also a sorc so surge procing more reliably is a nice bonus, and I would much rather have consistent damage and procs than more powerful ones even though that class has more to gain from this change than most. The dramatic shift from not having to build for crit to needing to build for crit just means the race will run even more into the meta than any other rather than having the flexibility not to.

I also made a sorc khajiit tank to take advantage of the changes to surges healing a while back, with that racial and cp allocation I had a healthy 30% crit rate which meant I could reliably get surge to heal, and for situations where you need to keep yourself alive that is amazing. An 8% loss here is insane and pretty much kills that idea, even if it means that on the occasion that surge procs, and crit heals, that heal would be 10% stronger.

I also made a stamden healer which changed over to magicka since the class has many fun skills I didn't want to pass on using as much as possible. 8% crit rate for healing means that my strong burst heals, which when they crit are more than enough to full heal any dps, won't gain from 10% crit healing at all. Sure it will help the tanks, but even then I already have the healing output to get them back to full in a second or two as is, having more consistent crit heals raises my average heal value making it easier to predict how much time I need to spend putting out heals and how much time I can spend doing everything else a healer needs to do. The resource pool and regen passives mean this character will only be buffed next patch, but the loss of the potential consistent crit bonus for the crit heal will likely be unnoticed most of the time.

And lastly, since khajiit were being framed as a race that could do magic or stamina dps I was throwing around the idea of testing how viable a hybrid could be. Using pelinal's on this setup would make the other hybrid dps race, dunmer, a bit less useful since you would be stacking one damage type or the other, but a khajiit getting both crit types would have been amazing. Now with it only buffing crit damage you need to stack crit to a point no hybrid build could ever reach, meaning that not only is the race less viable for something fun like this, but they are actually among the worst.

I think it was overkill to make them the strongest magicka dps, so apart from throwing a wrench in my plans I'm totally fine with their current state in 4.3.3. I think when they buffed Shadow they didn't consider how well that change would synergize with their planned Khajiit changes, and they came out stronger than intended.

With the new change, they'll be the race you want to pair with critical chance sets, like Mother's Sorrow or Mechanical Acuity. I personally like using high-resource sets so I'm a little sad that it won't be such a straightforward upgrade for my main character anymore.
