How do you level Undaunted on a damage dealer?

I started a new character last week and the time has come to level their Undaunted skill line, but the character is a damage dealer, which means queues would last days. So I turned them into a tank, and wanted to see how many people do the same, or don't.

So when you level Undaunted playing dungeons (assumed Veteran, Normal only would take forever) on a character you want to eventually be a damage dealer, what do you do?

    Do the delves-quest.

just queue for DD for 1 (if you got eso plus or all DLCs 2) dungeons and go for the delve. If you're done with that and haven't gotten an invitation, go for the remaining unqueued dungon (solo). This way you always have something to do and to return to when PUGing inbetween. :)

I do the dungeons on normal as I am leveling up. In the past I've leveled up that way. When I hit 50 I'll go back and do the achievement runs on vet for extra rep. I usually go with what ever role the character is intended to be.

I have done it as a tank, but I find grouping with another DD to be a really short queue, so I normally do that if the character is a DD.

I hate to play understuffed (i.e. w/o undaunted passives) and i hate to wait for so long, so yes, just do all vets as full tank and you are undaunted ^^ you may also go for some crazy experiments and have fun that way

If you queue as a tank to level Undaunted in normal dungeons, all I'll ask is that you have a taunt, hold boss aggro, and you be able to stay alive.

Just don't be a fake tank with no taunt. It's annoying AF when the boss is all over the place or aggroed on somebody who can't handle it and shouldn't have to if you were doing your job as tank.

I usually level undaunted through the Delves quest or rebuilding as a tank.

Depends what I feel like at the time, but until they’re at least close to max I don’t put them into vets

Sometimes I just queue for DD and let the queue run while I’m questing

Other times I’ll run the delve dailies

On my stam chars I’ll pop on a taunt and silver leash and queue as tank

Other times I just go in with three other DDs into some normal runs to clear as many dungeons as we can for the skill points and Undaunted levels

I don’t like using Resto on a magDD so only time I’ll queue as off-heals is if I have class heals to contribute

join a guild, ask for help levelling up my new toon, do each dungeon whenever it's a pledge, and do the undaunted delve dailies too. Doesn't take long that way. Ended up doing each dungeon once for the skill point, and was maxed with one or two vet dungeon speed/Hm achieves on top.

Queue as healer for normals should be fine. Do the daily quests, get friends/guidies to pick them up and share them as well for multiples in a day.

I queu'd as a tank with an unchanged damage build. Just burn through the dungeons.

Only for non-dlc normal dungeons, though. So naturally, only Maj-al and Glirion's stuff.

No veteran mode, or DLC. A tank is necessary for those.

Depend on your level, running vet dungeons HM / no death / speed run and other achievements level it fast.
Aim for the easier dungeons, preferable run with friends.

Any magic build can heal, you need an restoration staff. For harder content you probably want more sustain, seducer or jewelry with magic recovery.

levling undaunted in normals are pretty slow.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Perhaps find a group of others who would also like to complete each dungeon and progress with them. Likely 10-15 folks or more ...also consider PvE guilds that do group content on a weekly basis

Fastest way is to focus on Undaunted achievements. Also there is a daily quest you can do solo that sends you to a random delve and it adds some progress to Undaunted guild skill line.

You guys are being active detriments if you don’t at least slot a taunt to keep the priority still. In solo all mobs naturally group and aggro on one person, in a group trying to play like that just extends the run for no reason and you’re not actually being a help to the team by letting the mobs run wild.

For dps I mostly play mag, so I do the same thing for levelling those chars. I level to 15, equip destro and resto, level up skills and morph springs and mutagen, and then queue in normal random dungeons as heals. Level up more skills, more passives, etc. Run with purple crafted training gear, crafted twice at level 15 and again at level 30-36. Really the only difference I make is the resto line and maybe a couple class healer skills, which I respec out of post-50 with the level up reward respec scrolls. EZ PZ levelling for under 50 normals.

In normal run most player under level 50 and i am the only high cp player. So they can be glad that i run with them and not another level 20 tank that have pretty sure not a taunt skill equipped and no damage to.

I make this often and many player said thank you to me for "helping out"
So i am pretty sure my dd is a better tank paired with my exp than a leveling newbie tank.

When I queue for Normal dungeons, I run my dps specced MagPlar, and check off the DPS box.

I could queue as a healer and get in lickity split, but I don't run around with a heal spec. Why? I find healers get a lot of grief and blame-- not always, but often enough. Since EQ (Cleric and Shaman), and EQ2 (Warden and Defiler), I learned how to heal very well. The dynamics back then were so much more difficult, but ultimately very satisfying. I could heal through any content I decided to enter.

But, there is the blame factor when you know what hits the fan, or someone refuses to listen and keeps dying THEN blaming. The role I used to love became something that I now avoid like the plague.

So..I'm a closet healer. I DPS rather well, but I have the skills slotted to back up the person who joined as the group's healer. It has worked out extremely well, as I've been in more than one situation where a little extra love was needed, and I was there to give it.

Besides. Normal dungeons are supposed to be fun. I can solo most of them, aside from the newer DLC BS where "Normal" is full on Vet mode. I have yet to go in with a group and have it come anywhere close to a fail. Sometimes the last boss takes a bit to take down, but for the most part they are smooth sailing.

I have 7/7 characters who are level 10 in undaunted. Every single one of them made 90% or more of their progress simply doing daily delves. Takes a while but so does horse training. Just a daily routine when committing to a character. As they gain some experience, I may augment this a bit by sharing daily delve quests or perhaps even running a few of the easier pledges with others.

I have a healer and a tank and their training was no different. I did not subject them to pugs until they were fully competent in their roles. Yes, their queues are shorter but they take their role responsibilities very seriously. I'd never pug as a tank or healer unless that character fully embraced the role and was proficient at it. Short queues are a poor reason to heal or tank - if it ain't in your heart to heal or tank, don't do it.

I found it so funny last week when a boss was running after me (I'm DPS) all over the place, I started kiting it. I have no idea what the hell was tank upto and why the boss loved me so much. -_-

P.s., and no, I couldn't have taunted him in any conceivable way.

Do the daily delve quest. On the days when you don't have a lot of time to play ESO, you earn some Undaunted points (although not very many) and some coin and items. Or if you are fortunate enough to have others to play with, you can queue as a group and finish the daily Undaunted quests without waiting. Otherwise, queue as a DD, and do something else in game while waiting for your spot.
