How do you level Undaunted on a damage dealer?

I play mainly magicka characters, so it's easy to queue as a healer.

I skipped the poll because I don't know whether "respec" referred to attribute points and CP, which I don't need to change, or gear and skills, which of course I do.

Actually, sometimes I just run around the landscape in full healing gear (SPC, Worm, resto). I usually don't, but that's just because I have one set of SPC gear shared among many magicka characters, so it lives in the bank.

Asking in my guilds' WhatsApp and discord to find a group to run dungeons with, usually people join to level undaunted on some of their chars as well. We usually pick a time during a Saturday or Sunday afternoon when no one is raiding, and we'll do dailies and then we just do the base game dungeons. Veteran with Hardmode, Speedrun, no-deaths etc nets you a lot of undaunted XP, so with a good group it's not too bad.

The bolgrul dailies and pugging dungeons is much too slow, because pugging vet dungeons is such a pain and the normal dungeons don't level undaunted fast enough.

Quests and achievements as a did. For normal, I que as heals with a resto staff for bosses. Trash does to fast to bother healing in normal outside of big hit mechanics

I queue up as a random DD then specific dungeons I still need while running the other combat and crafting dailies. I can usually complete all of the Undaunted tasks in the time it takes to do all of the other stuff. Oh, I only do normal and didn't find leveling Undaunted to be anywhere near as onerous as the Mages Guild.

Poll assumes only dungeon gear is viable? Or you'll never hit a dungeon before you can access vet?

You can't queue vet until 50+, some dungeons require CP.

Spec an overland plus crafted set, or farm a normal for blue under/@ 40-50 gear (I'm a hoarder have loads of gear I'll never use), play the game as you should - - learn rotation, what's the problem?

Roll with a known crew, hit L50 then burn through vet, HM, speed run, no death at same time. A few of those a night and you done in a fortnight.

Do that quest where you buy drinks for folks. Do the delve quests. Do a ton of dungeons norm or vet with your friends or even public dungeons for the achievements ( blocking, damage, healing-you get points for that).

To just grind it do a bunch of dungeons with your friends or join a PvE guild and ask around. Some always has a toon they want to get Undaunted on. I’d only pug dungeons as a last resort. Then just go as a fake tank. Who cares. Lol.

While leveling, I usually at the very least clear a zone's skyshards, lorebooks and delves. While doing that I queue for whatever dungeons are available for my level that I haven't yet cleared. Even if you're a DD, something should pop up eventually, and you only need the achievements to level Undaunted, so it's not like you need to keep running the same dungeons over and over again (some kill achievements will require you to replay dungeons, but I don't think you need those to max out Undaunted).

I have fake tanking gear (Green Pact + Plague Doctor + Mighty Chudan in good traits and with good enchants) that I just swap from character to character when I want to go fake tanking. I make sure I have a melee taunt and a ranged taunt, be that Inner Fire or an ice staff with the right passive, put the gear on, and queue for normals.

Only normals, though. I won't fake tank vet dungeons, even though I can handle most of the non-DLC ones with my setup.

Run with guildies and return the favour when they need a healer/tank to level their DPS.

Edited to add: Just having either a healer or a tank queue with you will make the queue pretty fast, from my experience.

Why are you under the impression that the queue is the only way to level undaunted?

1. Gather 3 friends and run it that way.
2. Do normal if you don't have the proper group composition for vet. 10 points are better than zero. You can likely solo many normal dungeons on a dps
3. Do daily delves, ideally by sharing and swapping with friends. You can get up to 150 points a day that way
4. If you're leveling many characters through Undaunted, avoid dungeons that will take too long. If a vet DLC will take over an hour including finding the group for it, just don't bother. Run 3 easier dungeons on an alt instead for 3x the points in the same time.
5. Don't get obsessed with running every pledge on vet every day on hard mode. If you can't get a group that can run that content, skip it or run it on normal. Don't waste time.

on the other side as tank with 3 dd team i can pull

my weight and allow our static tank to have some fun

on her dd characters


by just doing pledges (5-6 keys, depends on dlc)

i'm bringing my alt to max undaunted in 6-7 days

(we usually get all nodeath and speedruns as bonus

points to the undaunted skill line)

Find a friend or two and pair up in different roles if you are using group finder. My friend and I have done it will all our characters, if he is leveling a DPS, I'll run on a tank or healer with him and vice versa.

And running normal is way easier than running vet - we two man a lot of normals, even while leveling up.

I’m trying to level my first stamina dps and the queue times are terrible. I’ll try the daily delve.

I was also thinking about asking someone if they wanted to trade, I’ll heal them in one dungeon and then dps in the other.

Reason why there are so few healers is pretty obvious too. A lot of dps have terrible attitudes. Especially those under CP300 who are new to the game and came from WoW, they expect easy mode and get pissy if they die from doing something dumb.

At first it upset me, but now I think it’s hilarious, but dps attitudes are definitely the problem.

As long as its normal.
Dont ever do this on vet, coz you gonna need dk utility for vet.

Daily delve quests from lvl45, group sharing the quests with guild members. When I reach lvl50 I do the normal dungeon quests to get skill points and some bigger Undaunted achievement points, maybe farm some vet ones for achievements if I need to.

But I don't use the group finder anyway, so "other" was my only option.

I pass my tank gear along to the next alt and tank it. Taunt it, position it, pull it, survive it. I love tanking.

I create tank characters and then Zos nerfs non-dk tanking in some way and I have to retire them to overland dd.

I’ve tanked on nb (was my favorite obsession for the longest), Sorc (worst one), Warden (favorite), and now I’m going to tank on templar. I missed the boat on the blazeplar meta unfortunately (and now they are messing up time stop for pve) so he’ll only jump in to tank on guild activities (for the dungeons he can’t solo).

The one character I made to be a dd from the start is a stam dk who leveled his Undaunted with my warden’s tanking gear and Pierce Armor on, no other changes.

My main/crafter is a standard healing magplar, as cookie as the cutter gets except his race. He was made to be a healer from the start so he doesn’t apply to this poll.

buying drinks, doing delve dailies mostly. i do tend to mostly play healers nowadays, so queueing up is not as bad, but I also try to get it out before they hit lvl 50. because i have come to rely on orbs far too much nowadays and can't bring myself to queue up for later dungeons without having acess to at least morphed version even if its still in process of leveling up

It depends. I try go to as tank as often as possible. For one as you said because the time in queues is a lot faster as a tank. But sometimes it's nice to go as DD, less pressure. But if you have say an archer, hard to tank as an archer. Not much to do then but to just practice patience in the dungeon queue.
