    I will join the rage!

Next sub payment is at the beginning of next month.
Now I do not know when people are paid in other countries, but im guessing its almost the same as mine.
The last day of the month..

So why make sure people have money to pay for the sub, when they will get paid right before the next sub payment?

They can bring no argument to do this, without it easily being shot down.

Ya take money from someone and put it infront of them and tell them its still their's, they just cant use them because ya wanna make sure they can pay for lunch next month.

Im calling my bank to remove that reservation..

Well I was just in for a pleasant surprise, I was contacted by the support team, who granted me a redeemable code activating my 30 day's of play! Here's what they sent me:

    Greetings!

I'm sorry, I was just letting you know your options and what customers are being asked to do. I did see you didn't have a cc card, but I saw you had a Paypal, so the info applied. Forgive me, I didn't mean to make it seem I hadn't listened.

I'd like to get you back into the game as soon as possible (i.e. once you receive this email) so here's what I'll do for you. I'm going to give you a one time only 1 day code. This code will activate your free 30 days and you can buy and use a game time card once your sub gets close to running out.

Here is the 1 day code: ****************************

Enter it on your Account page under the option "Redeem Code" and your 30 days will be active. You'll be fighting the forces of Molag Bal in no time!

Thank you for your continued interest and support!

    Warm Regards,
    Gamemaster Nuri
    The Elder Scrolls Online Team

I obviously sent an email back thanking him and wishing them GL with their future efforts to keep us satisfied, during which I received yet another email from another member of the support team, granting me yet another key. I obviously had to apologise to that person for taking the time to help me though it wasn't needed anymore.

    Faith restored and logging in!

    Hail Sithis!

I know, but then I'd have to pay for another 30 days. People who use the CC or paypal option don't have to (although they have to cancel their sub 30 days in advance), so thats a bit unfair.

I'd create another ticket if I were you, they responded to my tickets within 24 hours or so. 5 days seems a bit much.

Something else that isn't being touched on is the fact that this game is rated MA, which means you are supposed to be over 17 to play. Requiring a credit card will discourage a lot of kids from playing, and those that do will need to get their parents permission (unless they steal the cards from their parents wallet - then they there should be consequences when mom and dad get the bill). They can buy cards too, I guess, but it still makes it harder. I have seen other games and more adult oriented sites use this as a purposeful check to keep the underage crowd out. Given that I like a mature group to play with, I think it is a worthwhile benefit. It also makes me wonder how many of the whiners are really kids trying to play an adult rated game?

    Out of curiosity.
If the status on the end of the email says unresolved means that they are still looking on your topic?
Cause finally i was able to talk to a CM and the last message had nothing to do with my email.
(Tho hes previous response he showed that he understood my problem and after i was going to provide my date of birth he was going to fix it).

It is quite frustrating that they didn't take into account that there are some country's where owning a creditcard isn't standard practice. Here (in the Netherlands) it's not common to own a CC, and since the paypal option also requires it being linked to a CC, the only other option is to buy a gametime card. Meaning you'll have to actually spend another 15 dollars before you can access the 30 day's you've already bought.

Reading that U.S. customers can simply call a number and have a solution within minutes is also frustrating as there is no number to call when you're from the EU. I've been waiting for a response to my email and callback tickets for more than 24 hours now, which wouldn't be all that bad if it weren't for the fact that I have loads of time to spend on gaming this week, which I now can only spend on games that have completely lost my interest, due to TESO being so awesome!

You can use iDeal though, but if I recall correctly you need to be 16 or 18 to be able to use online banking (and thus iDeal). Otherwise, iDeal is instant payment, so there is that.

However, do note that you are FORCED to PAY for a SECOND MONTH if you use iDeal to be able to use your free 30 days. This is NOT a "holding" of funds for verification, but a permanent payment. It's not the same as with a credit card, no matter what plenty of credit card users on these forums may claim.

ALL services that provide free time require you to input credit card information before the free time begins: Amazon Prime, Netflix, other MMOs. That's so they can charge you once the free time is over. That's how it works. It's not just Zenimax.

Part of it is sort of a credit check: they want to make sure you aren't just using the service for free and have no intent to actually pay for it later.

Incorrect. Firstly, the time we receive for *purchasing* the game client is *not free*.
    We paid for it.
Second, there may be some other MMOs run by companies which behave in this way, but I have not and will never play them. WoW and Everquest did not behave like this at launch, or at any time thereafter.
Yes, you were required to pay for the client, but 30 days were included with it, and you were *not* required to enter any information showing that you were going to continue paying, unless you decided to continue playing after your 30 days had expired.

People need to stop spreading misinformation like this, and treating the game as if it is a free client with no purchase price. We don't have to purchase a client for Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc. Those are subscription only.

And that is exactly why I find it a bit unfair for those without a CC, but apparantly when you send a couple of emails to their support and have a bit of patience, they will allow you to just start using those first 30 day's with a redeemable code. But you're right, you'll have to pay for another 30 day's if you want instant access.

I agree that it's a worthwhile benefit, but I doubt wether the person selling those gametime cards will be asking for ID. Lets hope so, although I have seen quite a few childish flamers in zonechat, I guess you don't have to be a child to be childish.
