Agree an low level power creep is good for a game, does not have to be much however. It is probably an unpopular opinion on these forums but I actually have no problem with power creep. It is an easy way to make older content more accessible to people that may not have the skill to complete hard mode or no death achievements. The hard core, top end players are always only ever playing the newer harder stuff anyway so who really cares if vMA, older DLC or older trials becomes easier. Constantly raising CP and the associated power creep seemed fine to me. I'm also ok with newer more powerful sets being added to keep that power creeping upwards. What I find bizzare is the constant nerfing that seems to be designed to make content harder for no apparent reason. As someone over the CP cap for the last few releases I definitely feel like my characters "power" has plateaued. I know it is an illusion but it would be nice to see my imaginary numbers continue to increase. My main concern at the moment is that they are going to gut CP and replace it with something that makes my character feel weaker rather than stronger. The jury is still out whether the upcoming racial passive changes will do just that.
New content tend to be harder anyway.
You also have players doing harder and harder content.
You however have the problem with endgame.
They are chasing this non-existent thing they call "balance". Balance will finally be achieved when everything is the same. Race, wont matter. Class, wont matter. Character progression, doesn't exist. Gear, who cares, have another proc set that does the same thing with some new animations and particle effects.

the Problem here is the CP system was never expanded upon. its a rudimnetary system it was really just a base to build upon which they never did. They started milking the churn base way to early and now that milk has gone sour.ESO is profitable but they have figured out its not anymore profitable then if they had stayed a sub base and held 500 to 600 k active subs if they made a MMO with vertical progression. They lost subs because they were not producing content for the game and focused on console sales. corporate america likes to abuse the gaming comsumer with predatory tactics and force development teams to make a game based on how fast they can make money in a shorter period of time . rather then make a game that keeps people playing.

Yeah. What is the point in making games the way people want to play them? Games should be designed to only be enjoyable for 50 people at most.
if people do not have the time to commit to an MMORPG, perhaps they should just NOT PLAY THEM. Sick of casuals causing devs to water down games just because there are a few idiot casuals who are just riding the mainstream train because video games are popular.
Also? No, they won’t refund Elsweyr for you. They don’t refund digital purchases, working or not. So too bad so sad.Neoicelord wrote: »Neoicelord wrote: »Now that CP is being halted, what is the point of the expansion beyond just the story? The CP System gets reworked atm. That doesnt mean progression will stop. Progression is only stopped temporarily.
It's all empty promises. You think it will get reworked? I think these upcoming changes are the start and end to the death of vertical progression, and player choice. Don't get me wrong, CP was a very poorly executed system, but it was a system... I honestly do not see it being "reworked". It will be forgotten... like spell crafting, and so much more. I don't think they have the ability to actually create any systems that are of any depth.
Then why should i continue to play?
Thankfully Microsoft has a great refund system and i can get a full refund on ESO plus the day before my sub expires
and a full refund on Elsweyr collector's edition pre order.

You see a smart company would have capped the CP off each new dlc/expansion so people could not store up 90000000 points and get bored. Maybe give people a small amount of gold or something when they reach an exp milestone...but clearly the CP system was not well thought out.

When you have a game that scales to your level, if you are not a particularly skilled player, sometimes the only way that you can advance is through the Champion Point system.
I have noticed that my character gets stronger the more champion points I acquire and that helps me to survive content I would have struggled with before.
If ZOS plans to alter champion points, I hope that do not nerf it to such a degree that it prevents us casual players from progressing through game content.

Well with new gear sets you will not technically be Progressing as you will have to forfeit something to get something else of equal value.
Why dont they just increase the gear level to 320? or extended the level cap to 60? idk...
Screw that idea and shame on you for suggesting it. Why would people want to farm all their gear again???Neoicelord wrote: »MLGProPlayer wrote: »You'll progress through the story, as in every other DLC.

the point is ZOS is seeing their bait and switch is not working out so well for ZOS. they should have increased gear level ever slightly with new sets and back leveled the ones you already have . new sets should have new stat that is applicable for new end game trials and dungeons.its simple easy and a tried and true progression system. In all honesty the RPG story part of this game is horrible man. its really bad i dont know why people would want to play a single player MMO with bad story. when their is a pleothera of outstanding single player rpgs out there with subperb story and single player mechanincs. ive never played this game for its story its pretty bad. all but a few quests were memorable. honestly AOC had better quest stories.Flat progression is not keeping people playing. and the chapters are not selling like hot cakes its why they are trying to make Ells so big by offering the Necro class to win back some players. I play MMOs for the social aspect of gaming . accomplishing content with friends and building good team dynamics. I dont play them for the single player waltz through the new shiny zone. the point is everyone has a playstyle and ZOS has sold as many copies as they are going to sell in this market. they need to win back ESO plus people and keep them. the churn base just is not buying as much of their digital garbage as they used to. they need to balance the game design .

though i understand your sentiment and agree the genre was literally gutted to a massive quick cash grab . ending yoour own life is hardly the solution. but as you know all the talent in the design of MMO's has clearly left the corporate world they are all working on indie projects and they can make excellent games with out having to shell out massive bonuses to CEOs out of the production cost. that is how you get bloated 150 million dollar budgets with big IP corporate MMO's. Clearly when you stack ESO up against games that were released in 2004 like EQ2 . You see how little content this game launched with for the price tag it cost to make. EQ2 launched with massive amounts of content and pumped out full blown expansion every 6 months. Around 2009 everything changed and EA went for the throat by buying bioware and gutting one of the best game producers in the RPG genre. Its not bleak corporate america has moved on to the lobby shooter as their new cash cow and the genre will redefine once again.
