its not so much curse eater, its that people don't like purge, regardless of its form.

perhaps we need to split effects and purges into three separate categories

category 1: bleeds, burns, other damage over time effects that actually do damage, etc.

category 2: armor debuffs, healing debuffs, etc.

category 3: snares, roots, slows, etc.

have a "cleanse" that removes damage over time effects, have a "purge" that removes debuffs, and immovable that removes snares, roots, etc.

its fine if skills or sets deal with these effects in a balanced manner but we need more levers and gears to mess with it seems. as a lot of the shouting and raging at curse eater was done because people don't want to lose their bleeds, as everyone hates snares.

in that same vein we need more effects that purge / cleanse / immovable, then provide immunity to further effects for 1-3 seconds. as its extra suck to purge then have it all just stack up again -_-

    Interesting thought, although I'm not sure if purge is the problem that people have (Templars have been doing it forever). If Curse Eater didn't completely remove delayed damage abilities like Curse or remove stuns, then I think people wouldn't have freaked out as much.

    oh agreed, everyone is pretty much on the same boat in that regard and it came up a bunch when they nerfed swift, your either too fast, or snared out of your mind, not fun.

    People don’t know what they want. Or rather what they really want is their status effects (meaning dots, snares, cc) to stay, but other players to not effect them.

    It’s the crying game and since a bunch of bad changes have already gone through (time stop nerf and curse eater nerf) it’s encouraging people to cry even more. If people were really concerned about snares they’d welcome the old curse eater - but that would have effected their snares, and it’s everyone else’s that’s the problem.

    Madness needs to stop. Don’t touch purge.

    The amount of damage mitigated by one purge (or curse eater) is absolutely insane compared to the magicka cost. It vastly outpaces pretty much any heal in the game, with one single purge often being able to mitigate more total damage than a healing ult. The way that purges/cleanses in this game works is broken in the first place and needs a total rework.

    Also agree.

    Players don’t want to sacrifice their “precious” bar space to slot purge because they think it’s too expensive. Or, they think there’s no room for changes on their 5k damage dealing glass cannon.

    That’s the player’s choice of course ... but no crying in the forums if you don’t use purge and then get status effects.

    It's not purge people have a problem with. Purge is extremely powerful. This is balanced in game by the the two most common abilities having a high cost, and requiring a synergy from within a HoT. The problem with the first rework was it provided this ability passively, with little thought from the player. This current iteration will still prove to be very strong.
    There is a lot of direct healing in this game.
    Purgee is fine as it is, but this ability should require thought to use effectively, and be costly.

    There is such a thing as overcomplication. Having 3 separate purges/Cleanses is way more complicated than it needs to be. If this also affects PvE it just wouldn’t work.
