Besides the fact that new gear cap would be a useless change anyway as players are autoleveled to the world and gear at your level is just as strong regardless of *what* level you are, I dare you;
Tell people they need to refarm maelstrom weaps and perfect rele. I'll wait over here out of the blast zone xD

Do not get me started on the stupidity that is infecting every mmorpg (except the great Final Fantasy XIV) that is called "Level Scaling" or "i am a casual and do not have the time to actually play the game, let me do end game stuffs"

But i could care less about the game's story, the only reason i play mmorpgs is to make my character stronger.

but i'm sure you'll find gear to hunt, motifs to steal and dragons to fight. or is that not character progression?
Well with new gear sets you will not technically be Progressing as you will have to forfeit something to get something else of equal value.
Why dont they just increase the gear level to 320? or extended the level cap to 60? idk...

Screw that idea and shame on you for suggesting it. Why would people want to farm all their gear again???Neoicelord wrote: »MLGProPlayer wrote: »You'll progress through the story, as in every other DLC.

Well tough luck. Your playing the wrong MMO then. This one has a large focus on progression through storylines.Neoicelord wrote: »Contemplating cancelling my pre order and giving Black Desert a try when it comes to Xbox in a few weeks.
Ok, take care then. Bye.

Yeah. What is the point in making games the way people want to play them? Games should be designed to only be enjoyable for 50 people at most.

Uh.... I LOVE farming gear. That was the raison d'etre in WoW and RIFT, and it was fun. I just don't really get the whole thing here.... Sure, I can go make more gear for every few CP levels.... but it's not fun....
I think you'll find different views on what the purpose of playing an MMO or RPG is, not everyone plays just for the character progression.
Elsweyr will have a new story and class which many are interested in, as well as new sets (gear progression), new trial (content/skill progression), skyshards and public dungeons for SP (character progression).
For many people the updates also didn't feel like progression, they've earned the CP months if not years ago and are just getting back pay for their work.

Still forward progression being able to actually allocate them which I am sure is where the OP is going with his post. Allocating those 30 points each update improved his, and everyone else's characters who allotted them better; even if it was a minuscule amount of progression at a time.

The CP System gets reworked atm. That doesnt mean progression will stop. Progression is only stopped temporarily.

It's all empty promises. You think it will get reworked? I think these upcoming changes are the start and end to the death of vertical progression, and player choice. They are chasing this non-existent thing they call "balance". Balance will finally be achieved when everything is the same. Race, wont matter. Class, wont matter. Character progression, doesn't exist. Gear, who cares, have another proc set that does the same thing with some new animations and particle effects.
Don't get me wrong, CP was a very poorly executed system, but it was a system... I honestly do not see it being "reworked". It will be forgotten... like spell crafting, and so much more. I don't think they have the ability to actually create any systems that are of any depth.

Then why should i continue to play?
Thankfully Microsoft has a great refund system and i can get a full refund on ESO plus the day before my sub expires
and a full refund on Elsweyr collector's edition pre order.
Neoicelord wrote: »All i play an mmorpg for is getting gear, leveling and doing things that increases my characters power (like every other mmorpg)
i also enjoy playing the auction house and making millions but you know..the PC elites cry whenever people ask for an auction house (must be nice having a bunch of addons to help you, i play on Xbox)
Story and Lore are on the bottom of my list on reasons to play an mmorpg. i played WoW for 12 years and i could not tell you a thing about the story other then Arthas is a badass.
Contemplating cancelling my pre order and giving Black Desert a try when it comes to Xbox in a few weeks.
Agree an low level power creep is good for a game, does not have to be much however. It is probably an unpopular opinion on these forums but I actually have no problem with power creep. It is an easy way to make older content more accessible to people that may not have the skill to complete hard mode or no death achievements. The hard core, top end players are always only ever playing the newer harder stuff anyway so who really cares if vMA, older DLC or older trials becomes easier. Constantly raising CP and the associated power creep seemed fine to me. I'm also ok with newer more powerful sets being added to keep that power creeping upwards. What I find bizzare is the constant nerfing that seems to be designed to make content harder for no apparent reason. As someone over the CP cap for the last few releases I definitely feel like my characters "power" has plateaued. I know it is an illusion but it would be nice to see my imaginary numbers continue to increase. My main concern at the moment is that they are going to gut CP and replace it with something that makes my character feel weaker rather than stronger. The jury is still out whether the upcoming racial passive changes will do just that.

I don't under stand this mentality. Surely progressing is playing the game and getting better. Vet DLC HM, vMA flawless, etc
If progression means an arbitrary number well your CP is still ticking up, just not using it. But who cares? Power creep is making the game too easy and who wants that.
Are you really playing purely watching tour CP number grow? That's like starting threads to get forum stars.
Sure ill be happy when i hit forum star cap but it will come naturally staring at the stars wont help me
