The point is, the trade center is showing you everything on the market. if you aren't finding it that means no one is selling it. A global AH wouldn't change that. A global AH would not solve this "issue".
Sure it would. Because a global AH means ANYONE can list stuff without being in a guild. And that also means that a lot of even "it's silly crafted crap why would you list it" stuff DOES get listed. I made millions on the AH in WoW - just listing whatever I had to sell, not even trying to undercut. Ditto on RIFT. It's a much healthier take on "in game economy"....
Funny thing is.... I haven't played WoW since 2013 or RIFT since 2016. Those millions are sitting there still. Daughter plays both games still, as does sister and nephew - my toons are still there in the guilds, so the gold is still there too. Oh, well, not in WoW as I deleted all those toons and passed all that gold into the guild. But RIFT, yeah. My girls are still there, and so is the gold.0 -

So cut them some slack? Yes, the game is casual friendly (unless you're me with 2k+ ms ping - let me tell you how NOT EASY stuff is....) but still, there are people who get into a game like this with no conception of what it actually entails.

Anybody who has spent enough time in this game to learn 8 traits to be able to craft Orgnum's Scales will know it is a bad idea to list items hoping someone will buy. The buyer will only be wanting 5 items to fill in 5 of the 12 slots available. Which slots do I craft? What about trait? No way am I going to waste 160 mats per item...hang on is your friend even 160cp yet?6 -

they are right though (not the devs, people who say it wouldn't make a difference in this particular case). I play games with global AH, and why dear god is it so much nicer for general convenience... and yet obscure crafted sets or their equivalent are still impossible to find listed. becasue they are generally not worth listing regardless of trade system - why not worth listing? because you may never find a buyer, but listings cost in game currency to keep relisting. I have given up many a time trying to sell a niche item in WOW of all places, a game that is pretty hopping AND has global AH. I could probably sell it close to vendor cost... maybe.. but why? might as well vendor it in that case..
even in games with global AH, equivalent of that set usually means advertising in general or trade chat, looking to get it custom crafted.

✭✭✭✭✭It is very simple. If that is the reason your friend gave for leaving the game they clearly were not very into the game to begin with. While I respect anyone's opinion as to what they prefer, this is a rather petty reason to leave.
Edit: After reading the OP again, it is clear his friend really just lacked some basic understanding of the game since that set is crafted. It would have been better to ask in guild (hopefully not in a bad guild) and they could have told him it is crafted and someone probably could have made it for him, though there are better sets.

I'm going for that same idea for tank, but it'll be beekeeper with alessian order, post update. Food buff only, 29k resists, 31k health and 3700 health recovery. Kinda fun to play around with this concept.0 -

Pretty much any guild will craft it for him if he has the materials, and materials are readily available in traders.1 -

✭I understand you all have a negative view on him because of this outrage, but look at it through his point of view. He has been working butt off for gold, got to 160 champion, been saving up and wanted to do a build he thought would be fun to him. I understand it is not the best build, I understand much better gear out. I am sure he would get better sets in the future, but this open ended mmo set bonus are tied to builds, and he was having fun with a regen build. He did not care if it was the best, in fact he used heavy armor, 2 hander and massive champion points into regen. Doing open world stuff he did not feel weak, and when he needed to tank. Sword and board.
He lost his temper over something that seems silly to you all, but for him it is not. People saying it would not be on the AH because the set is bad, If ah is global, someone would sell it. It is just how a global market works. What I am trying to get at is I am sure he had other ideas for set bonus he wanted to try out, but he does not want to group with others because his build is not meta, and he finds it disrespectful to group with others clearly not playing the best he could. All he wanted to do is go out in the world, farm gold, and have ease of access to crafting gear through a market.
We can all call him silly, or say he was looking for excuses. We don't know what he is thinking. All I know is, he was excited, he was having fun, and this AH ruined it for him. Economy is a big part of mmos, and not having ease of access to even weaker gear sets through a global ah is a turn off for him.
Like I said, I am working on crafting now. I'm just annoyed with him about it.3 -

Pretty much what I was alluding to. I'll wager many people would, if he asked nicely in chat. A few years ago, I didn't have Orsinium yet, really wanted Julianos. I asked in chat, got a whisper, started a conversation explaining what I wanted, 5 minutes later a group request, travel to player, traded materials for my set pieces; I offered gold but the player said not to bother. I friended him and ever since trade materials, motifs, do farming and dungeon/trial runs with him.
I pay that kindness forward in the way described in my previous post.

It's a crafted set, so people tend to not sell it. They usually craft on request and may charge at that point if they want to.

For a while I tried to check loot to see if it was worth trying to flog in zone chat, but I quickly gave up and just deconstruct every piece of equipment and learn every recipe etc.
I sometimes use the website to track down and buy the last few pages of a style, or a cheap piece of overland set gear for an alt.2 -
