I feel PVP works best in short objective focused instances, not running around for three hours to get to a keep, die, then have to drive back for another three hours. Sustained open world PVP like that is an antiquated form of gaming that doesn't fit with modern trends in games.
If you like it great, you got an outlet. But the majority is quick play.
"I try to create sympathy for my characters, then turn the monsters loose."– Stephen King
I enjoy the odd pvp but cyrodiil alone is far too one dimensional to keep my interest for this many years. I lived in it for the first half of my playing time but after a year or so of tower farms it's time to find new challenges.
"Arena started, as the name might suggest, as a medieval-style gladiator game. You had a team of fighters and went around the world fighting other teams in each city's arena until you became grand champion in the Imperial City."
While I mostly play pvp nowadays (95%), this is still an elder scrolls game which is why I bought it first. When a new zone comes out, I will play that and be amazed at graphics and stuff and then return to Cyrodiil.

Hahahahahaha! Absolutely not. You can't role-play and tell stories in such a hostile environment. Also, there's virtually no content in Cyrodill. By "no content" I mean no significant questing or story, which is the only content I really care about.

A pure PvP spinoff of Cyrodill and BGs is something I'd be very interested in. Balancing the game just for PvP would be good, being able to level, equip, and support a character just through PvP would be good, fixing the Lag/server issues would be great.
ZOS would have to fix the performance issues, if they simply seperated cyrodil as is, then no.
This would also be good for ESO PvE players in terms of balancing, gearing, skills etc...
- no storyline
- skill points reduced to about 100 maximum
- no mages guild, fighters guild, etc You have your weapon skills, class skills and alliance war only
- limited item sets and no set crafting stations
- no housing
- new character will suffer with a slow horse in a game that essentially requires a fast mount
- no warden, no necromancer. those were introduced in updates that don't exist
- good luck farming materials (but you won't need ore/wood/etc as there are no crafted sets)
I'm sure there are more that I'm missing
In this theoretical world where only Cyrodiil exists, the game would be wretched.
Cyrodiil is not very fun, I find the area boring.
PvP is a lot of fun especially when it's balanced numbers against each other.
But if that is all there was to the game, I'd have been bored within the first month, like Overwatch...
