Why don't we have trans chars?

If being trans means you switch gender then wtf is the point of pointing out you're trans if you still went from m to f or f to m? Just pick the gender you switched to and it's over. I swear this trans thing is just for attention, but I don't want to think that way about them.

There are more than 2 genders though [don't argue, people are entitled to their own self identity]

    Thank you!

edit: and also, crossdressing is not the same as feeling that you're in the wrong body or have the wrong gender.

Crossdressing does not and will never change your gender. Even surgery and taking hormones won't change your gender.

I'm a bit confused, this game offers a lot already like we can have lesbian marriages, but I don't seem to find an option to express the gender and character history of my char correctly if I don't write a long novel and force my guildies to read it. What do you think guys, shouldn't we have some more variety already and get this as some sort of option too?

@Lilyanne I think your question has merit. However, as the thread has shown, this isn't the forum where the best discussion on that topic can happen. Personally, I'd take it to this Reddit, as it is very open and positive. You're just getting flamed here.

It is a rare mind indeed that can render the hitherto non-existent blindingly obvious. The cry 'I could have thought of that' is a very popular and misleading one, for the fact is that they didn't, and a very significant and revealing fact it is too. - Douglas Adams

If you don't understand lore don't even include yourself in the conversation.

Don't be mean to Volk, he has a valid point. Daedric princes have no gender, but the way they are perceived is sometimes as Male or Female.

For example, Azura appears as a female, whilst Sheogorath appears as a male.

"Just a note here, the Daedric Prince Boethiah is recorded as female in Daggerfall and Battlespire, consequent with "her" name with the -ah suffix as some female Dunmer (like Katariah, Barenziah, and many others)."
    https://www.imperial-library.info/content/guide-daedra

Daedra are gender neutral, but sometimes they wish to be perceived as other genders, changing their anatomy, and as such could be interpreted as Transgender.

I think perhaps you could do with reading the lore.

    The way I see it.

If a woman born in a male body chooses to embrace her true self (whether with help of the medical world or not) ... she is female (or visa versa). So... a female toon would do fine. No need for trans characters to spell it out as that goes against the whole thing in my opinion. I don't believe many true trans people want to emphasis on being born in the body of the opposite sex.

So the case would be more like a why are there no drag-characters as option, or gender-neutral or whatever I guess.

Characters who look deliberately male with female traits of visa versa. I can see it being used in a tasteful way for breeding awareness and understanding of the struggle some people deal with (like a certain quest chain in eso). But it's way way to easy to have it all become insulting or painful or whatever, by mistake or worse on purpose mocking, with misuse of such a character in the wrong hands.

What exactly are you asking for here? Because the game offers the ability to crossdress and even create a plethora of outfits and use of colors to express yourself freely. Aside from a Player Biography page others can pull up. I cant imagine anything else that ZOS could do to allow you to create a unique character.

Hello, why is "trans is no gender" a valid statement? I don't mean to create a character with a "trans gender", I mean to create a character that has the option to change it's gender only and make it clear that they went through the whole process. It's a serious topic for many.

It's more of a question of "what do you expect the dev's to do?"

You can dress your character any way you like, make it look any way you want, and as far as I can tell, the quest dialogue regarding player characters is not gender specific.

So... what are you looking for here? A sex change token on the crown store?

I think you're all missing something here. If, and this is IF this were to be instituted at any point in the future, literally no one...not one single person...would be losing a thing from their game play. You could still choose to be male or female, based on your personal preference. There is literally absolutely zero reason to argue against this. If you don't have a stake in it, then you have no reason to be a part of this conversation and you are just wasting your own time and creating a problem where none should exist. Whatever happened to "live and let live"?

Or how about you pick the gender you transition to? You know... instead of for some reason wanting to tell people you chose "trans". It's like if transitioning means you never really transitioned because even you are stuck with the mentality that you're still this gender pretending to be this other gender.

Um, you can make a female or male character and say they are trans? Maybe they used magic to do it like that Alchemy fella from Summerset isles.

I do wish we could put more make-up on the male character, though.

I'm trans IRL myself and I'm not bothered.

Ew no. As someone who deeply cares about trans rights I find this thread just dumb and unnecessary.

If OP actually gave a single f*** about trans people in real life he/she would realize that asking ZOS to add some sort of a signifier for trans characters actually does nothing to help trans representation--if anything, it further perpetuates the idea that trans people are different from "regular people" and as such should be compartmentalized into their own group with a giant scarlet letter on their foreheads.

    CLOSE THIS THREAD.
