Why don't we have trans chars?

You can do this in game already as long as get creative with character creator, cosmetics, and wardrobes. You can fill in the gaps with RP. It's actually a lot easier to play as trans in this game than it is to play as bi-racial. Yet even though the game lists her as altmer, I have a half elf nord.

Well yes, I do feel like I need it or else I wouldn't have started this topic. I've been also a bit offended to be told I'd be attention seeking. Which is btw also something that all of the members of the lgbt movement get to hear WAY TOO OFTEN. So, dear Tearsar, in a world with mages guilds and a lot of magical things, don't you think I could hire a mage to make the impossible possible and make me a pretty male like my genes would want me to be? :(

Bi-racial also exists in lore. I imagine the only reason you cant do that in character creation is that it is far too difficult to code in that many mixed races as they would have to be coded as separate races

Umm, if I'm not mistaken, but doesn't the lore refer to Nocturnal as a 'he' or more specifically a 'prince' and not a 'princess', but they really come off looking very very feminine.

Daedric Princes aren't human. They do not have genders. How we see them is just how they choose to appear to us.

If you want a pre-transition trans character, make a character of their assigned-at-birth gender, but dress them similarly to their perceived identity (e.g. orc dude in dresses and make-up, as others mentioned).

If you want a post-transition trans character (like that Summerset NPC whom I shall not name due to spoilers), just make a regular female or male char and dress them accordingly, and if someone asks and you feel like sharing, tell them that in your RP your character is trans. As the game currently is, it's even better for trans identity, because you can 'pass' without difficulty and nobody will know unless you tell them (and it makes sense in lore too, again, see that NPC in Summerset).

Tell me about your character, if you don't mind? Who are they? What sex did they have at birth? What sex (if any) do they intend to emulate through their gender expression?

Easiest way to RP this is to make a character as close to the expression as you can since in TES's world, you'd have magic just pop you into whatever you wanted to. For a price.

You can actaully make pretty good trans character if you spend some money to crown store stuff.
Skirt, eyelashes, lipstick, and long curly hair for your males, nice suits, scars and shaved heads for females. Set body type as you like and you are good to go.

Hello, why is "trans is no gender" a valid statement? I don't mean to create a character with a "trans gender", I mean to create a character that has the option to change it's gender only and make it clear that they went through the whole process. It's a serious topic for many.

I think I can field that.

Because it has nothing to do with the main quest or the questlines of the game. It is as simple as that.

I mean, there is no actual big story at all concerning who we are, where we have come from, why we can do the things we do etc. Because The Vestige is literally someone caught up in extenuating circumstances a lot. That is as much story as we get about our characters. Anything else is made up by us, the player.

However, if you look around the world, there's a heck of a lot of inclusivity in Tamriel.

The Daedric Princes have no fixed gender.

Argonians, as I understand it, can change gender. I have not done Murkmire yet but I am sure this is touched on.

    Vivec has no set gender.

There's a character called Alchemy in Summerset that is Trans. Seriously go do that story, it's awesome.

There's a few other questlines scattered about the world too, not to mention tons of LGBTQA relationships etc.

As for The Vestige though, they are a blank slate. We come up with their backstory, who they are, where they have come from, their experiences etc. Who's to say that if you create a woman character, they have always been a woman? And vice versa.

in an RPG, it all comes down to imagination with regards to our player character.

If being trans means you switch gender then wtf is the point of pointing out you're trans if you still went from m to f or f to m? Just pick the gender you switched to and it's over. I swear this trans thing is just for attention, but I don't want to think that way about them.

I'm a bit confused, this game offers a lot already like we can have lesbian marriages, but I don't seem to find an option to express the gender and character history of my char correctly if I don't write a long novel and force my guildies to read it. What do you think guys, shouldn't we have some more variety already and get this as some sort of option too?

why would you ask this question fr, do you see doctors in the game if so find a surgeon and ask them why not? elves arent trans or khajiit or breton or nord or anyone? just play a female charter. im actually shocked this is a topic rn, the whole point a trans does that is to be a gender theyre not or feel like they were supposed to be born as so why would you make it a hybrid human theyre either going for being a man or being a woman so in the game just pick that gender. trans arent in the lore anywhere this would be nuts to include let alone imagine seeing trans in game. trans didnt even start till idk when do you really think in a world with vikings reptilians etc there are trans people? that would destroy the lore that would just plop in there never even being mentioned before..

I also don't have an option to express that my character used to be a cobbler before he was an adventurer, used to live in Tear before becoming a Lizard of the World, or that my AD Dunmer is the love-child of an Altmer father and an Ashlander servant. It's all backstory, and it's all up to you.

There's no reason you can't decide that the gender you chose at Character Creation is not the gender your character always identified as.

The really oversimplified answer is that the character models weren't designed to be modular so there are complications to getting gear and collectibles to blend smoothly without clipping or overlay issues.

The other oversimplified answer is unintended consequences. Is it more respectful to just let individuals fill in the blanks than open up the system for trolling and abuse? People still feel they're anonymous when playing video games, and that creates problems. When you have fewer people who personally relate to you, you find yourself with fewer people to defend you when the *** *** come knocking. It's the awkward and disappointing reality of it all.

    At the risk of spoilers...

As that quest was specifically mentioned in the GLAAD award nomination, it's not much of a spoiler risk anymore.

Gender has no effect in combat so it doesn't seem so hard to allow options for pronouns. Simple 3: "he/him", "she/her", and "they/them". They/them is a pretty good one to cover those not under the male/female category

True, though I know at least three different lore examples of how this works. Point being, your character's back story is not limited by game mechanics. Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't think the Rings of Mara even care what genders the couple have.

So you may have to tell a few people. It's really no different then how it might be irl, more so if we could transition magically rather than medically. Even still, there are a number of ways in game to hint at it visually.

People may be entitled to their own self identity but people cannot tell me the earth is flat and expect me to believe it.

Biologically there are primarily 2 genders w/ the occasional person w/ both *** or none but that is a mutation, NOT a 3rd gender.

But you see, this is a thread where people of a differing opinion than yours want recognition in game. The same way the government in many countries has given recognition to people in real life. Whether you agree or not is invalid to this discussion as the LGBTQ+ are voicing their opinions about how they feel and did not ask anyone to invalidate how they feel only to have the devs listen to our opinions the same way they do about asking to get rid of or to add X feature.

This game is pretty positive overall in terms of sexual representation and I don’t think we need to shoehorn even more “topical” bits into the game. Besides, you can’t walk around a major city without seeing a (visible) male Nord in a wedding dress dancing and no one bats an eye or even cares about their gender expression.

Because they could earn a nice coin from it. ^^ I mean, a lot of us have already spent quite a lot on "useless stuff" in this game that wasn't needed either. So why not ... but I give up now. You guys won. :(
