Can anyone explain to me, how the changes to old sets are applied when a patch comes live?

Let's say I have a Deadly Strike Necklace.

Currently its trait is Healthy, because it belongs to a heavy armor set. When the change comes, will it be converted to robust or will it stay healthy, with just the set bonuses changed?
1. It stays healthy, only set bonuses change.
2. It changes to robust.

What happens if I've already transmuted to the necklace, say to Infused? Will it stay in its transmuted state or will it be overwritten by the new trait?
1. The transmuted trait stays.
2. The transmuted trait will be overwritten, the necklace will be robust.
