How would you make houses more interactive for people?

Manequinns to place your outfits on.

And system needs to be reworked so People can visit All your houses... I have bought so many limited time houses which i really regret now because ppl will never see them xD

Have a "Guild House" option, so u could set a specific house as primary, to a specific character, and another house for another character and so on

Teleporters - this will add a new dimension to housing. I imagine 2 types, one like a portal that you need to click on, and the 2nd which would be the most fun, a teleporter tile, which transports you to an other location the moment you step on it.

Since the teleporter has two parts, the start and the end location, I would like more triggered pieces like it, such as doors that open from a switch, ramps or walls that come up and down for secret passages, and so on.

We will get a house with traps, so the technology is there.

The first and key step to doing anything to improve housing would be to appoint a dev that listens and interacts with the community.
I'm kind of getting fed up with the housing forum to be honest. It just feels like a waste. There are so many threads listing good suggestions on improving this element of the game and ZOS keep telling us that they take our suggestions onboard yet I have never seen a dev comment on the housing forum and everytime there are new houses or new furniture items added to the game it seems blatantly disconnected from what is being asked for :(
I mean just look at the latest CS furniture items added to the PTS. I looked at the broken barricades, the dwemer benches and blocks, and just thought 'seriously.. all those threads and you give us these!!'
Maybe that's just my perspective but I doubt I'm alone.

You are absolutely NOT alone on that! Enough with the oversized palaces that the item limit will NEVER allow us to decorate properly anyway and the huge "adventure zones" that just look stagnant and lifeless because you can't put in any wild life! And speaking of, that's ANOTHER request... deer, bears, wolves, frogs, BIRDS, snakes, squirrels, etc! As housing decos! Heck, let us make a zoo!

But yes, the offerings are completely tone deaf. It seems VERY obvious that the housing forum here isn't looked at by a single person with the authority to make decisions about what kinds of houses and furnishing items will be offered.

So much this! We need to be able to set guild houses. We need to be able to set houses for specific guest lists. We need to be able to designate houses "public" so literally anyone could get in, all whether we are online or not.

Just a shout out for any PC players looking to automate their home in this way...

Here's a quick demo of Essential Housing Tools triggers. The demonstration illustrates how to set up Emote-based triggers that can open and close doors in response to the your use of specific emotes.

A number of other trigger conditions are also supported though, including you or a group member being in (or not being in) a specific location, switching any toggled item (such as an Ayleid Switch, Light, Incense, etc.), interacting with any Interactive item (such as the Merchant, Banker, a crafting station, etc.), saying or someone else saying a specific phrase, and more.

This is great! I have seen such houses, but the owner needs to be present for all these to work.

Also, while I really appreciate your effort to develop addons, I think ZOS should implement such features in the game, not rely on the community to make up for their lack of enthusiasm regarding to housing mostly.

The housing community is made of players who spend a lot of money in this game, real money, probably more than raiders or pvpers, because the big houses cost up to 100$ and the furnishing packs also are not cheap. Yet we get little attention and feedback from the developers, even when the community develop amazing addons to make the game better.

I hope to see your addon part of the game!

There should be housing-communities, not instances.
Like in LotRo. In my whole Gaming-Career I never had more fun than at the Festivities we all had in our guilds neighbourhood. We even had Midsummerfestivals and Birthdayparties in the town center.

Housing in ESO is just the place where your Target-Dummy stands. Why would I decorate my house and my garden if no one will ever see it.

I never had that experience in LOTRO. I don't recall ever seeing anybody else in my housing villages, except insofar as my wife and I had adjacent houses and went there after questing together.

Really fascinating thread! Here are some things I would like, that would make my homes and Guild Palace more interactive:-

    1. Crafting nodes - I would like to be able to scatter a few crafting nodes and fishing spots around.

    2. Crafting Writ boards and a drop-off point. Let me do my crafting writs in my house please!

    3. Existing NPCs - I would like the existing Banker and Merchant to move around more and to have the same functionality as out-of-home Merchants and Bankers (repair armour, access guild banks and stores).

    4. New NPSs - I would like to be able to place additional NPCs. My first thought is Guards on post (for fun), or a stable master (with the same ability as out-of-home stable masters).

    5. Let us mount in the grounds. Some of these huge houses take an age to get around, so the ability to mount would help take the annoyance out of the scale.

    6. My final one - I'd really like a daily housing quest board / quest giver NPC (based in the house). These could be "go fetch" type quests, with housing items (e.g. blueprints, mats, luxury furnishing items) as rewards.

As a bit of an afterthought, I'd like greater capability to make a Home a Guild Hall - in particular I would like to separate my own primary home from the Guild Hall, which should be accessible from the Guild screen.

    That's me done :)

Usable manaquines that display armour for sure. And usable beds.

Also what about the ability to buy special picture frames from the crown store that allow players to put their own screen shots in the frame to hang in their walls. Imagine having a guild group picture in your eso home. Or a picture of your favorite location in the game.

To prevent people from just uploading any image they wanted to the frame, you could make it so you need to pay to have it framed, which would require zos to approve the image first. It would be like a paid service.

Being able to go up to pets/mounts and, well, pet them.

I could spend hours telling my horses what good girls they are.

I'd say just having pets roam would be good (and more slots for pets, maybe specific slots just for them). They stand there like moving statues.

NPCs to purchase like musicians - lute, flute, sing -, jugglers, jesters...things to make a home come alive.

I don't want housing to replace hanging out in cities though. Ideally I want more things to do in the taverns in cities so they're a genuine destination when just hanging out. But everyone in housing instances will make the world feel dead.

Housing is a woefully under developed aspect of ESO. Credit where its due, they have the genus of a great idea and a great feature, that is now being let down because its neglected. The key is making houses useful and as you say, interactive.

    - Increase the dreadfully low item limits on all houses, which is ridiculous, what is the point in gaining all those monster trophies if you cant even display them all? What is the point in having all those pets and mounts if they cannot all be placed? The game has grown and house space has not grown with it. Heck Id even PAY to increase the size ESO.

    - Ability to place all your accounts characters around your house, in exactly the same way the banker, shop and fence can be. This would really increase the immersion, as if your characters can be part of the same fellowship with your house as the base.

    - As above, ability to place numerous NPC, non interactive characters, such as a stable hand, a cook, bar tenders, shop keepers, dock workers, servants and GUARDS! This would massively increase immersion, allowing you to make your home a community, at least aesthetically. It makes sense that a powerful and successful warrior/mage etc as we are supposed to be, would have this.

    - Ability to colour or "paint" some items, like walls. Were really getting towards the 'Ark' side of construction and customisability now though. Its not a priority for me.

    Cheers

In regards to what other have suggested about NPCs, besides those, it would be nice to have guests, like NPCs for various quests that you have completed. Like Tellenger, the Vanos siblings, Lady Clarise with Stibbons, etc.

I have the Linchal Manor, which if you noticed, is the same building as the inn from Hallow City. I would like to recreate that inn and add many characters instead of having the usual vanity house.

NPCs that are interactable and / or move (not necessarily walk, but have some movement like the banker and are not just pictures like all the other furniture).

Ideal would be NPCs with movements. Ideas include:
    • Ranged attackers, with staff or bow. If these were true attacks, that did damage to target dummies, then there would also be a chance to practice healing.
    • Dancers.
    • Bards.

Note that the movements for those kinds of NPCs do not need to include them walking back and forth, which might be very hard to implement; rather, they do stuff in a fixed location.

The obvious ways to introduce them are:
    • Crown store
    • Quests (perhaps gated behind achievements) where you encounter them in the open world and that end with you inviting them to join you.
