Lightning Mage Sorc: Themed Build PvE

I have my lightning themed Sorc rocking Netch’s Touch, The Queens Elegance, Slimecraw, with Maelstrom Lightning and a Charged Elegant Lightning Staff.

Some real messed up looking CP setup to support a heavy attack kind of play style. This is a no pet Sorc kind of build because...I don’t even know. A pet Sorc with Necro and Plague Doctor probably easily outperforms this. If you really want to have top tier damage this patch, you must go get Siroria, Mother Sorrow, Psijic Skill line, probably play a MagBlade, beat on a dummy for hours on end trying to ingrain this convoluted rotation into your head.

Sorry about that.

So anyways, Wall of elements, liquid lightning, Lightning Form bar swap heavvvvvvvvvy attack ftw. Power surge, Hardened Ward, and elemental drain.

Ok, I’m terrible with Sorc and hit around 25k with this setup realistically. Single target damage not so great, but it’s an AOE Monster, I can solo dungeons with ease and don’t have to use a pet.

Does it work though? The CP is messed up and probably not optimal, but this dude melts things with quickness and ease. You see this guy just nuke a crematorial guard in seconds with a heavy attack. it slows down a bit on pure single target fights, but not that much.

One guy called me trash a DPS, while he went jumping to each mob on his 60k DPS WW build. He’s half right. You can go some other route and get more damage. But this is easy to play, and that kind of means something to me.

For a lightning theme, we have options. You could also use thunderbug, storm caller, storm knight, storm whatever. I’m not really sure how much bettered worse they are; this one kind of worked well for me so I went with it.

If you are reaching 25k self buff, some social guild's vet trial groups will take you in. It is relatively weaker, and you can reach higher damage easily with other builds, but play what your heart tells you.
but I wouldn't recommend charged for the lightening staff. If you use heavy attacks anyway, try using Infallible Aether (or however it is called) for the minor vulnerablity concussion gives anyway, will give you higher up time, and then u can run infused/nirnuorned on staff for more damage.
Also way to go for the eledrain choice, healers don't use it anyway do they, group support for the win.
I would also recommend adding "Crystal fragments" and using it only when it procs. U don't have to use it right away, you can wait a rotation for it (7 seconds is long time) the group buff it gives and the damage are quite nice.

Btw don't tell anyone I told you to use IA, I main pet sorc and was raging at everyone who recommended it for me :P (for my own reasons).

Edit: I also had a long answer for useful sorc skills in players help players for someone who asked something similar, feel free going over it.

Been running on a Nightblade Undaunted Infiltrator + Unweaver + Maelstrom Lightning for a solid amount of time so far... on a Sorcerer, it gets ridiculous. I'd recommend those two sets instead of Elegance, simply because I'm 95% sure your CP buffs those additional numbers, making it ridiculous. Or Netch's and unweaver/infiltrator (infiltrator for 2k magic on 3 piece, then off-bar for buff, then transmute jewelry to arcane).

I have no idea? Just kind of assumed it buffed all Lightning Damage. Guess I’ll be running Arx Corinium looking for Undaunted Infaltrator next

Netch, It doesn't buff pets. Will buff pets after patch. Does buff light/heavy attacks.

It's been widely reported in other threads that Netch and other similar sets (e.g., Silks, Ysgramor, War Maiden, etc.) do not boost light or heavy attacks. Accordingly, many rotations will benefit more from Julianos, which gives a more universal buff.

However, the splash damage from a lightning staff heavy attack apparently is buffed by Netch's.

Im too lazy to search but im pretty sure it was Gina who said they did buff and it was intended when this came up whe the sets came out.
