Trying to get the new cyrodiil sets highlights how broken RNG loot is (again)

1 million AP spent on Boxes of Deadly Strike gear, at 12k each thats 83 boxes.

Full set of everything... except 1 dagger and 1 axe are the only 2 stam weapons I got.
No swords, no duplicates if I want 2 daggers or 2 axes, no bow.

The fact that we are only given 1 million AP on the PTS and yet this isnt even enough for a single full set if you want weps really does highlight a problem if you ask me.

Potential Fix: Up the price and let us by base copies ourselves?
OR Remove weapons from the boxes and sell only them separately, maybe with no trait or bad traits so the tradeoff is having to transmute them?

Since they are tradeable on live its crappy but not the end of the world. The fact that these sets aren't just in our pts boxes though is incredibly irritating as they just updated the sets.

Haha. I did 4 million. Got an axe then a dagger in my last 4 boxes.
Lots of jewelry, heads and staves. Quite a few bows and 2H... but the 1 hand drop rate seems out of whack.

RNG is so fukt in this game. ZOS is jsut stringing us along to hold onto player base as long as possible. It's called gambling, and it's no different than what casinos do.

I got 2 daggers pretty quickly (and a pair of axes and a sword and several maces and a variety of 2H weapons).

As far as the PTS goes, I don't see why these sets aren't included in the Template boxes.

However, for live, doesn't seem like a problem. Ravaging weapons were never hard to come by but the relative rarity at least kept the prices at a decent place so there was a fair market in turning over AP to gold.

The oldes post i could find about [snippy] rng in eso was from early access on 31/04/2014.

Highlights from post #2 and #3:

Now there is the transmute system that allowes to grind something different to adjust traits, but doesnt help to turn a staff into a dagger.

The thrill, fun and rewardingness of the diluted rng lists in eso is prolly in the top 10 reasons why ppl left the game.

I would agree with you, if perhaps destro staffs had 3 times drop chance, and 1h weps had 2x dropchance, as you need to find the right type of staff, and often need 2 of a 1h wep.

It all works fine and good until it doesnt. Like for example how on live after 60-80 undaunted key openings I still have yet to ever see a light armor version of Iceheart. The odds are, I should have seen 2 or 3 by now. I haven't. And the best part is, there's no guarantee at this point that opening another 80 more will ever reward me with what I need.

On the flipside, one person could run a single instance of vMA and instantly get the bow. What should have been a long and repetitive grind or "Progression" to get the BIS wep has now become maybe an hour long one-time ordeal. Its not progression, its just frustratingly inconsistent.

You also need to remember human psychology.

We are hurt far more by negative stimuli than we feel rewarded by positive stimuli.
If RNG gave us what we wanted 50% of the time (And it certainly doesn't even get close to that), players would, in general, feel like they came off worse most of the time.

True. Would be nice if eso was less generous with negative stimuli tho.
One day in the distant future, i'll leave eso for another game. not a "threat", just the course of things. The memories from eso that will stick with me the longest will be:
    - how i learned to solo wbs after OT dropped, and than killed more than a thousand (i counted them) in bangkorai and did _not_ get a sharp spriggan dagger
    - how i bashed in the brickwall of vma in with my head during a pointless two week struggle and got a charged tankset mace
    - spending the month before they added all the new monsterheads hardcore farming keys and than dumping more than 100 and _not_ getting the shoulder i was after
    - killing thousands of "innocents" on vvardwark island for a motifbook
    - killing thousands of newbies in cyrodiil for akaviri and ordinator motif books (atleast no clusterfck rng there \o/), while having a strong dislike of pvp and esp killing weaker players
    - when ppl convinced me to join for vaa and first boss dropped a purple reinforced ia hand, while i was wearing a golden divine one that i got from normals and upgraded (and getting a golden ring of the eternal yokudan in the end, indistructable 2016 version)
    - how getting summerset master angler on ten alts was not enough to complete the pyandonian motif
    - mathing out that crafting green foods and selling them to npc and than buy a gift-for-gold welkynar motif would be worlds cheaper and faster than tryharding to grind them myself

I could go on with that list, i'm 'ancient' in terms of how long i have been playing, but sadly i cannot recall a single time where i managed to pulll of something difficult and felt propperly rewarded for it. handful of events where i got (undeserved) stupidly lucky while "getting away with it". first run vCoS, was pretending to be a tank, dying all the time, no clue what was going on or killing me. somehow, the rest of the team managed to complete it, while i was watching thru the death recap. got a divine head. participated in zergrushing a dolmen in a lowbie zone, lvl 36 alt "level those skills" loadout, random gear i got from quests. i learned that night, that the scamp adds of the final boss can drop atheric cyphers.

seeing that they r actually able to make a "real" tokensystem like last witches festivals special skulls, makes me wonder if they dont want to spread positive stimuli. aint games supposed to be fun anymore?

In-case anyone is wondering JUST how dumb this situation is...

    unknown.png

The update isnt even LIVE yet. The loot tables make it WAY easier to get weps (no armor drops) YET 1h axes are already at 250k in anticipation...
