Sorc mains, do you like pets?

Yeah, mainly because I like the wizard/summoning classes with controllable pets. I play Sorc with and without pets and both styles are valuable if played rt.

Off-Topic, I do wish we had skins for our summoned pets...same for Warden's bear.

    Geeeze

So sorcs that dislike pets should have no opinion about skills that affect their class play style and viability?

To be fair it is designed as a pet class. I mean a sorc w/o a pet is basically a lower DPS NB, but at least they can slot conduit for Alkosh?

Designed as a pet class? I think it's more of a dark magic/lightning mage that has pets shoved in. The sorc PvP playstyle is quite different from nb, though I agree in PvE they can be a bit lackluster in comparison.

Ha pretty much, just a nerf sorc thread.

Not at all. Imo sorc could use some buffs, but part of that could be pets getting reworked.

Tried 'em, hated 'em. I went from pet sorc to stamsorc, I disliked them so much. Just did not want all that mess following me around, and it was a pain in the butt to remember to dismiss them when I went into towns but I refuse to be that jerk with flappies getting into people's way.

Sorry, let me scoot in here real quick. I chose a Dunmer Sorc on day 1 because I wanted pets. It was the worst playstyle I’ve ever experienced. Not at all what I wanted from a pet class.

Warden is a little better but not a single game has ever come close to vanilla WoW hunters. That is the high bar I hold all pet classes to.

Depends on the situation. Sometimes pets are perfect, others they are a NO GO. In general though I prefer no pet but I am flexible and will frequently swap back and forth depending on content.

For me the scamp is just another liquid lightning/ele blockade that requires 2 bar slots instead of 1, and the matriarch is just a BoL that requires 2 bar slots. I would rather have them reworked to become temporary pets like some of the warden(necro?) skills.

I also don't like that if you choose to not use pets you end up losing 2 passives(Rebate and Expert Summoner)

I like them but they should be summoned and dismissed external to the bar and the only thing the bar button does is execute their action. This would allow for a single bar setup to use the talent and not waste a slot to keep the pet from being dismissed.

Well, it doesn't matter to me, as I'm never going back to that game. Went in a direction I just couldn't stomach, so after almost 8 years, I canceled 7 accounts, deleted all my toons, sent millions in gold to my daughter (who still plays) and haven't ever been back. Won't ever go back. But I still miss my hunters and their tamable pets.

I had fun for 6+ years. I consider that a good run.

Life changes. After WoW, I went on to RIFT. Spent 3 years there, and again, they went in a direction I couldn't consider fun, so again, I canceled accounts (only 5 that time) and quit. I'm actually considering going back to RIFT because the housing is SUPERLATIVE compared to.... um.... what we have here.... I don't have to "play" to enjoy the housing.... and I never deleted my girls in RIFT. Forgot, and *shrug*, they're all still there....

Anyway, the whole "pet" thing here is.... marginal, but for me with the lag I have, the pet classes are really my only viable option.

Love my Volatile familiar. Never use the twilight. Its not worth tying up a second slot and not unsummoning when you are in town is a real crap thing to do to other players. They block people from the interactions they want to have.

But the Volatile pumping out AOE damage is great.

Yes, but I think they desperately need some work done on them. I would say one permanent summon skill that lets the summoner pick whichever daedra he wants to travel around with, and the other "summon" skills summon 1-3 temporary daedra that assist in combat. All of these would be just require one bar, instead of 2.

i do like my pets. i also love crystal fragments. i am a bit annoyed by the bar swap, it is acceptable, but i think that making pets entirely untargetable in non pvp area should be a thing. then they wont get in the way for crafting stations. wont be able to tank bosses in vDLC dungeons (#vSCP HM, resurrected all the team while the boss heavy attacked my monkey, we did wipe this one in the end, and managed to win a fight without too many resurrects, but pets were hilarious).

i am sure that it will change the votes of most non pet users for better.

Pets would be less of a burden when they only cost 1 ability slot and maybe have a duration of 2 minutes or so instead.

Something like this will be nice. I like the idea of a class that can summon daedra and I think they can bring utility, I just wish they weren't as clunky. Using 4 bar slots makes using pets lessen build variety way too much imo.

Indeed. And as someone said earlier, they are just mortal copies of other abilities that require twice the amount of slots.
I personally desperately need another slot to have some more build diversity. Don't forget you need daedric prey to make their damage compareable. And daedric prey is worse in every way than echoing curse.

Pets should either be a several minute long summon with a casttime, or a medium duration summon with an instant cast. I would prefer the first option.

I've always enjoyed sorcerers in single player TES games, and they relied heavily on Conjuration spells. To quote Morrowind's take on the class:

"Though spellcasters by vocation, sorcerers rely most on summonings and enchantments. They are greedy for magic scrolls, rings, armor and weapons, and commanding undead and Daedric servants gratifies their egos."

My first character in ESO was a Dunmer Telvanni sorcerer, doing exactly that - hell, Enchanting was the first crafting skill I maxed just to stay true to that theme, even.

So yes, I like my small daedric army, even added Maw of the Infernal to the bunch. I call my daedroth "Gary", and he's a big softie.

An easy solution for good power / DPS if you don’t want to faff about with a pin-point rotation and you’re not bothered about hitting seventy gabillion DPS. Also extremely useful if you like to play alone and solo content.

The upcoming update - currently on the PTS - will help make pets more powerful too, as they will take on more of the player’s stats.
