Dude. The patch notes are still fresh and Economy Manipulators are already hard at work speculating. Market speculation ruins things in real life too. I never thought this particular form of cancer would follow me to a virtual world. I have seen so many gold spell strategist staves that didn't drop in gold but some genius thought that people trying to get a spell strat weapon would love to absorb the costs of some re-seller's gold mats when they could just upgrade it themselves for cheaper. Meanwhile no one cant get a SS staff for under 50k but there are tons of gold ones rotting on guild stores for 500k that no one will buy.

"Just wait for the market for correct itself Yolo"

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this is going to end of with someone giving me a lecture of on the glories of free market caplitalism but this is a silly game about dragons and wizards and things. Stop turning this into Wolf of Wallstreet Online.

EDIT: Just a few thoughts
  • This is just for laughs and to vent about hardcore economy players. Play how you like but I see what you did there.
  • I actually DON'T advocate that ZOS implement any policies that are designed to reduce speculation because restrictions usually have unintended side effects that hurt the economy and player choice
  • The game was designed for play. The economy wasn't. The economy isn't robust enough to be the game. This isn't a free market.
  • Why are some people so angry that i'm talking about this? I guess you want this to be kept a secret.

It's just basic supply and demand.

If the demand is going to go up due to sets being more viable, so will the price. There isn't anything nefarious going on here.

I don't care if people are getting the gear normally and the value goes up b/c the marketing naturally adjusts b/c something becomes more valuable. That's how markets work.

What I do have a problem with is if the ones that stocked up ahead of time were class reps, employees or those connected with them b/c they had prior knowledge of changes, especially when all the gold pvp jewelry was just in the vendor for the event and most of the sets that got changes were not ones people would have bought before the change.

Those folks should be removed from the program (or company) if they are doing that.

Thats what happens when you have a system controlled by guilds. An open marketplace doesnt have the issue as bad. Id rather sell low rather than buy up and sell it takes too long.

I wouldn't mind if the economy was actually part of the game. If the game had some in-game mechanics where goblins attacked supply depots and by talking to townfolk or participating in some mini-game, it would give you an edge on the economy,

But reading the patch notes and speculating ISNT playing the game. Its using information outside of the game to manipulate items in game.

Note that I'm not saying anyone is cheating, calling for bans or for ZOS to change policies. I'm just having a bit of a laugh at people who just play the economy and haven't stepped foot in a dungeon or pvp instance for a year. This isn't EvE. The economy isn't robust enough for this kind of manipulation.

Let's go full wall street with this game then. ZOS did announce that they were changing some of the old PvP sets. I should have been able to leverage my AP and purchase Options on those Deadly Strikes Gold rings at about 10%.

Let's change the golden vendor so that you can buy Gold ring Options for 50k so if ZOS buffs the set in the next 30 days you can then purchase them.

We should also be able to buy insurance on the gold mats we use on our existing gear so when ZOS nerfs Advancing Yokeda so that people go farm their new set that does the same thing, we can get the cost of our gold mats back.

We could even do better than that, lets throw in an entire economy sim and attach it to the crow store so people that are willing to pay the most money can manipulate the economy the most.

Or maybe we can just put on our wizard hats and go fight imaginary dragons.

Once again, your reasons for playing arent someone elses reasons for playing. You're no better than someone else just because you want to kill a dragon and they want to make gold. It's not even manipulation as you claim, its buying cheap and guessing a price people might be willing to pay for the new bonuses. I bet more than half of these listed weapons dont sell, and if they do that's the price people are willing to pay

How is this post even remotely connected to the subject of this topic?

Obviously price jumps are gonna happen when adjustments are made to make a set incredibly strong. In all likelihood that listing won’t sell as it’s much easier to farm and transmute yourself. You can purchase the boxes from Cyro towns to guarantee the set at least

Don't worry. This set will drop in RotW. Over time, that will take the wind out of the sails of the speculators. Plus, I expect the 14% will be nerfed - either before live or shortly after. I'm feeling "8 percent". Further deflating the sails.

Yeah and eventually all those 500k spell strat inferno staves will drop off the market as well. How long has it been since Nerfmire came out? That set is STILL overpriced thanks to speculators. We almost have a new DLC out and the old gear is still in a bubble.

By that time ZOS will nerf the meta and we will have to farm again.

No, those staves will continue to languish at 500k. They might sell every now and then, but generally they will be slow movers (just like they are now).

Let's be honest here - you are pissed that you didn't get to those weapons first. So am I, to be honest. I have a job IRL that requires me to work during the day vs. spend hours scrubbing all the guild stores in Tamriel for fantasy money.

I didn't want to hoard the set, I just wanted a bow and 2 axes for myself. That didn't happen, but maybe it will.

There are other ways to obtain these weapons. It’s a choice of convenience, not of necessity.

You can go to Valastrus right now and go buy multiple boxes for AP that contain the Deadly Strike set. Same as you can farm any weapon and any set all on your own without once touching a guild trader.

Almost every one of those 500k gold staves was once a blue drop. A blue drop that could have been sold at a reasonable price to someone that actually wanted to use it. Instead, it was unnecessarily upgraded by a soulless speculator and posted for an unreasonable fee.

It would be fun to have an optional market place where when you bought something it would be bound to you. That way if I got a really good drop I didn't need, I could sell it directly to a raider who needed it, instead of a economic parasite that didn't.

Wasn't there a change not long ago that made it so Upgrading non-crafted gear binds the item to you?

    Below 100K now on pc.
One in guild got it, I told him to sell if he would not use it at once as price will go down over time.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Hey, not all those are the product of speculations.
For example, once I found in the chest a "secret name" infused lightning staff of blue quality, upgraded it and sold for 225k. I could sell blue for 120-150k, but why to lose profits?
Someone who didn't feel like upgrading a purple one bought it from me.

And also why "unnecessarily upgraded"? Gold quality is actually quite stronger than purple when we talk about weapons. And some people seem to want 100% combat ready product.

Anyone remember the hype about Mother's Sorrow prior to Horns of the Reach when precise trait was going to be BIS and you could make a fortune selling staves?

See, I also remember how the Devs nerfed Precise right at the Live release and all those staves suddenly weren't quite the meta anymore.

I guess the morale of the story is "Sell now. Buy after Live."
