Note that I'm not saying anyone is cheating, calling for bans or for ZOS to change policies. I'm just having a bit of a laugh at people who just play the economy and haven't stepped foot in a dungeon or pvp instance for a year. This isn't EvE. The economy isn't robust enough for this kind of manipulation.
Let's go full wall street with this game then. ZOS did announce that they were changing some of the old PvP sets. I should have been able to leverage my AP and purchase Options on those Deadly Strikes Gold rings at about 10%.
Let's change the golden vendor so that you can buy Gold ring Options for 50k so if ZOS buffs the set in the next 30 days you can then purchase them.
We should also be able to buy insurance on the gold mats we use on our existing gear so when ZOS nerfs Advancing Yokeda so that people go farm their new set that does the same thing, we can get the cost of our gold mats back.
We could even do better than that, lets throw in an entire economy sim and attach it to the crow store so people that are willing to pay the most money can manipulate the economy the most.
Or maybe we can just put on our wizard hats and go fight imaginary dragons.
Thats what happens when you have a system controlled by guilds. An open marketplace doesnt have the issue as bad. Id rather sell low rather than buy up and sell it takes too long.
Don't worry. This set will drop in RotW. Over time, that will take the wind out of the sails of the speculators. Plus, I expect the 14% will be nerfed - either before live or shortly after. I'm feeling "8 percent". Further deflating the sails.

Yeah and eventually all those 500k spell strat inferno staves will drop off the market as well. How long has it been since Nerfmire came out? That set is STILL overpriced thanks to speculators. We almost have a new DLC out and the old gear is still in a bubble.
By that time ZOS will nerf the meta and we will have to farm again.

People that actually plays the game and need the items.

No, those staves will continue to languish at 500k. They might sell every now and then, but generally they will be slow movers (just like they are now).
Yolokin_Swagonborn wrote: »Almost every one of those 500k gold staves was once a blue drop. A blue drop that could have been sold at a reasonable price to someone that actually wanted to use it. Instead, it was unnecessarily upgraded by a soulless speculator and posted for an unreasonable fee.
Below 100K now on pc.Yolokin_Swagonborn wrote: »Don't worry. This set will drop in RotW. Over time, that will take the wind out of the sails of the speculators. Plus, I expect the 14% will be nerfed - either before live or shortly after. I'm feeling "8 percent". Further deflating the sails.

hmmmm. 200k for a purple weapon of this set?
That can't be right. Oh wait, all of these listings are brand new.
Lets check the patch notes on the PTS that are completely subject to change.
Dude. The patch notes are still fresh and Economy Manipulators are already hard at work speculating. Market speculation ruins things in real life too. I never thought this particular form of cancer would follow me to a virtual world. I have seen so many gold spell strategist staves that didn't drop in gold but some genius thought that people trying to get a spell strat weapon would love to absorb the costs of some re-seller's gold mats when they could just upgrade it themselves for cheaper. Meanwhile no one cant get a SS staff for under 50k but there are tons of gold ones rotting on guild stores for 500k that no one will buy.
"Just wait for the market for correct itself Yolo"
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know this is going to end of with someone giving me a lecture of on the glories of free market caplitalism but this is a silly game about dragons and wizards and things. Stop turning this into Wolf of Wallstreet Online.
EDIT: Just a few thoughts
- This is just for laughs and to vent about hardcore economy players. Play how you like but I see what you did there.
- I actually DON'T advocate that ZOS implement any policies that are designed to reduce speculation because restrictions usually have unintended side effects that hurt the economy and player choice
- The game was designed for play. The economy wasn't. The economy isn't robust enough to be the game. This isn't a free market.
- Why are some people so angry that i'm talking about this? I guess you want this to be kept a secret.
