    .....one can dream, can he?

So... you want every battle to resemble NPCs fighting each other, where they essentially take turns hitting?

No thanks. If I wanted turn-based combat, I'd play a game designed around it.

I personally don't mind animation cancelling and I don't see ZOS getting rid of it any time soon. But removing it would not turn the combat into a turn based thing. Biggest change would be not having those light attacks in between skills anymore.

So... you propose removing the ability to cast a light attack between casting skills.

    In other words...
    Cast a skill
Wait for the one second global cooldown to pass
    Cast another skill
Wait for the one second global cooldown to pass
    Rinse and repeat.

Where do light and heavy attacks fit in? Will they be subject to the global cooldown as well?

Sounds like turn-based combat to me.

    Hoping for...

    1. Reintroduction of soft caps on stats
    2. Cosmetics not being linked to hard mode achievements.
    3. Gameplay rewards for play style ~eg hard mode dungeons reward progression gear not cosmetic gate locks.
    4. Frost staff becomes CC weapon.
    5. Weapon & Rune arrives for Magicka Tanks
    6. System Changes to enable more variety of builds viable at end game.

This game's combat needed to go in a different direction so I'm glad they are making some changes.

Unfortunately I don't think it's going to go in the direction I'd like to see it. I expect it to become even more streamlined and simplistic with this ever-silly obsession over "balance" continuing to water down the game play. Sadly that's what this newer generation seems to like (don't ask me why).

    I hope I'm wrong.

Monster proc sets definitely have to be addressed in pvp.

How so? You have the ability tonget them and most don't make a difference in fights and I play on a tank and glass cannons.

    Goblin poly for cyro use

Fix the current quest item to become a poly rather than disguise, like skeleton. Or crown store poly.

Earthgore only heals self or just removes ground aoe

Aoe siege is reworked to just apply status effects and not do damage
Siege should also only be allowed the immediate parameter of a keep/outpost.

Speed and immunity need some love or the inverse is snares and roots could use some chopping down to major minor 30/15

Timestop shouldn’t snare and it would benefit the game and the performance if it wasn’t on the bars of every pug, itching to be a chronomancer spamming it.

Draining shot needs the reverted distance or a change to the stun. Maybe have it knock up like clench or knock down like db

Sets that require system checks, proc sets, or interact with a player and x, y, z effect occur when you reach a, b, c requirement, should be changed to raw stats or unique buffs/group uses (trans, hundings) not calurion, sloads.

Cp raw stats not percentage based and remove the passives gained for having 120 points into a tree (arcane well, etc )

Aoe Healing and ults affect only the players in your group while single target (heal ward/bol/vine) etc can be used for those outside of group.

    Reduce group size to 12-16

It's literally called time stop lol

Let's not exaggarate here... It would make combat more tactical and pleasant...
Altough I'm used to canceling alot, I would support this idea.

Just another dev that doesn't play the game or if they do they don't play like everyone else, whats going to change? They'll still pull changes out of their ass for no reason other than "we want you to play how you want and have the freedom of choice... Unless you choose to play how we didn't intend you to play so then we have to nerf it".
"Play how you want... unless its not how we intended you to play in which case we'll nerf it".

What do I think will happen?

Zos will codify what they want combat to look like, finally. We factually know this is happening since Rich told us that last year.

Outside of that there is really no reason to there will be major changes. MattF and Rich signed off on every combat change made in this game and they still lead the team.

Takes no skill to have free damage or healing.. . this shouldn’t have ever been a thing, these proc sets ruin PvP as it’s filled with a bunch of scrubs who run nothing but proc sets and think they’re good for doing nothing.

I think he'll make an initial splash with a big change (hopefully for the best). Most leaders want to put an instant brand on their first public efforts to let everyone know how they will be going forward. This could be really exciting or ... you know. I think he will be just fine TBH. lets all cross our fingers and hope for the best!

Nothing will be noticeable in the immediate future. I already lived through changes like this as a WoW player. You only start to see changes many months later.

I just hope they separate solo queue and premades in bgs. For me it's a game breaking experience when you queue solo and you constantly get placed against a premade. Of course this has nothing to do with combat itself, but it's the one change that must happen for me to remain an ESO player. As of now i'm strongly considering quitting at least until the necromancer class comes out.

Animation canceling was a bug. It was a bug so long that they started designing content with the dps numbers obtained by using said bug. So they just started calling it a feature of combat.it had nothing to do with the style of combat design .

I think we're going to see a transition away from percentage based modifiers to flat bonuses. Other than that? Honestly not sure. I've met both Brian and Eric, but I have to admit, I'm not sure I could fully articulate the difference between their positions as developers.

That was already happening, in morrowind, and i don;t like it one bit.

Animation cancelling makes the combat feel fast paced and allows good players to make the most out of the skills allowed. To remove this would make combat sluggish and boring, I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would want to slow the combat of this game down to 1 second skill casts.
The only people who want animation cancelling gone are the ones who lack the skill to put it into practice.

You may like it or not like it for being fast paced, but implying that it's more skillfull... I doubt it, most difficult games I have played in my life are turn based tactical shooters/rpgs. Now, claiming that removing canceling animation would turn eso into turn based game is simply exaggarating. There is really nothing difficult in canceling animation. I have learnt it ages ago in like half an hour of practicing on the target dummie. Sure, it would change the pace of combat from spaming 10 buttons per second to more tactical approach, picking targets more carefully and observing their actions, but I really don't see any benefits from having this archaic feature, except that it allows to push more dps in PVE <and ruin my mouse>.
