Argonians, lorereason on why do you fight for the pact?

Wondering why some argonains fight for the ebonheart pact. I would never fight for the ebonheart pact as an argonian because spoiler alert... after it falls, the dunmer will enslave you as if nothing happens and Blood for the Pact? I just cant see any of my argonian characters saying that. Id rather personally play a different faction argonian with a mindset much like the argonian tribe who moved to valenwood in fear of their former slavemasters which were right about their suspicions of the dunmer based on their actions on the future. Your reasons aside from not buying the any race any alliance package? maybe you roleplay an argonian who is unknowing of the future outcome and is hopeful on the future of its race?

Sometimes a game is just a game...for some people. For others it is magical world where being immersive in the lore is ultimately satisfying.

Neither is better or worse...as you can play the game any way you want.

To answer your question as a person who does build characters for my toons:

I have one Argonian lassie (Slinks-Through-Shadows) who was raised by a crew of primarily Nord bandits and then settled down with an Argonian guar herder and now associates with the Pact based on her personal history in that part of the world. Not to mention the fact that, plot-wise, Pact territory was where she and her wife just got dropped upon leaving Coldharbour, so it was also just convenient. You kinda have to politically go along with where you're planted, and Pact lands are just where she and her wife end up all the time.

Now, my Argonian Sheo-devotee, Gimbles-in-the-Wabe, is an ex-slave who 100% believes in the Pact BECAUSE they freed the slaves. As he has no future-knowledge, he doesn't know that everything will simply revert back to the way it was. This actually becomes the crux of his future character arc as, due to weird-Hist-crap, weird-Vestige-crap, being the favored of Meridia, and appeasing or irking basically every other divine and anti-divine force in the world (like ya do in a TES game), I have lore'd up that he hitches a ride with the Nerevarine's soul and ends up reborn as the Nerevarine, which causes some lovely turmoil and rage when he realizes that it's been 750 years and his hopes and joys were completely negated, and he makes it his personal mission to wreck the Tribunal's ***, so that this can stop happening.

But that's just my two lizardfolk. There are many valid ways to build Argonian backstories, and I do like the idea of playing an Argonian elsewhere, but most of them hinge on the characters allying with wherever their home is, and my guys tend to call the Pact lands to home.

To defeat your enemy, you must know him.

Argonians get to travel thru their mortal enemy's territory, learn the land and ways to maneuver it. The smart take notes about such details and keep them save for when that information can be useful.

At the time of the war the pact and Morrowind are the only landlocked allies the argonians could possibly have.

Also they cant see the future.

Two reasons.

First, there are two types of Argonians post slavery. The valenwood cowards and the Argonians hunting former slave masters in Deshaan.

Second, An-Xileel. One day my children's children's children ... will storm oblivion and do the impossible. Defeat the daedra on their own turf.

If you really look at it, the only Argonians who joined the Pact were mostly the former slave work force under the Dunmer. They probably felt like fighting for the Pact was a way out of being slaves, so they took it. The Argonians of Black Marsh proper however, are not slaves to the Dunmer, and thus have no connection to them, or the Ebonheart Pact, and are pretty much still an independent people living in relative isolation in a land that's quite difficult to access by the other races.

Well, there's obviously something beyond nationalism, known as conscriptment. It's very possible that Argonians are conscripts. Although at this point in time, they'd have a different name.

Why did the Soviet Union and the Allies join forces when the Allies knew that Stalin was cruel and ruthless, and it wasn't going to go well after the end of WWII?
To take down a debatebly greater set of evils. Similarly, the Argonians could be doing this.

As a super fan boy of The Elder Scrolls none of the alliances make sense they are all canon lore but this is a tense time of unlikely allies, Nords hate magic, Dummer hate Nords and look down on Argonians. Redguard and Bretons hate Orcs, Orcs and Redguard hate magic and are honor bound warriors Bretons are snake tongue self centered childs. Two of the three AD race literally can't be attacked by normal means.

Lire wise the trust ran deep inside and out of the alliances so the Pact just lets whole armies of Altmer and Khajiit. Spies are everywhere but okay.

Well, I would ask the same question but from a different perspective. Why would any Dunmer be Ok with EP when Saxhleels will take over the almost all of Morrowind in 4th era after the end of Tribunal? This is 2nd era, Saxhleel folk were the key element of repelling akaviri invaders, as a Nord I feel gratitude toward them. And future is grim for both Saxhleel, Dunmer and Nord ppl, tbh. Enslavement, war, genocide, devastation of culture and land. That is the future of our nations. One more reason to enjoy the moment, and fight like there is no tomorrow. Now you know why Nords drink that much lol

My Argonian is no slave and never will be. He fights for his friends and family and doesn't give *** about the alliance war. They can go and kill them self but this one will never bow down to anyone ...kings and queens alike

I personally get why he is asking. The Argonians are NAtive American inspired, and I am myself Native American and the images of them beating the Argonians in artwork boils my blood. I always played a Dark Elf in other games, but not in this TES games. I will join the Dominion as an Argonian because that is the only faction that makes sense to me.
