I didn't have to get an invite to join this forum. Don't know what you're talking about. The forum seems pretty poppin' and you can even like comments to show your agreement.

Huh. I wonder if they did away with that lately. In June last year (when I started playing), I had to put in a ticket to be invited to the forum. Was a tad bit off-putting, really. I've been a good member of many forums over the years: MS, Adobe, WordPress, WoW, RIFT....

I've been around since 2014. Maybe it's something they added after I joined. *shrug*

Ah. Yeah that probably explains it. I found it pretty odd personally, but hey. Everyone's a newbie somewhere sometime.

The none CP fans in this game are very vocal group. Much of what they say is correct however, there is a significant amount of people that play MMORPG that play to make thier toons stronger over time... People play games for different reasons and telling them the reason they are playing is wrong is a waste a breath.....

Exactly. This game first ran with veteran levels then CP which was in truth not much different as far as vert prog goes. To take away vert prog after 5 years will effectively create an NGE like it did in Star Wars galaxies. The was literally the beginning of the end of that game which resulted in shutting down the servers.

It is a safe bet the majority of the players play this game for power progression, this is the common experience in MMORPG's.

That's not a safe bet at all. There is a reason why not a single post about this has gotten upvoted on Reddit. The vast majority of the community doesn't give a *** about arbitrary level progression. GW2 proved you can have a hugely successful MMO without level "progression". ESO appears to be moving in that direction. The launching of One Tamriel caused the player population to literally triple overnight because gamers today want bordererless sandbox experiences.

And yet the pvp CP servers are typically pop locked or high pop but the non cp servers are not. The actual player choices to use thier CP effectivly disproves your post.

What relevance does what people post on Reddit have here? I don't go to Reddit. I, and others, are disagreeing with you here. Reddit isn't more important or representative than the ESO forums.

There were many changes with One Tamriel. You can't attribute all of the game's success after that point to only one aspect. Also, One Tamriel did NOT remove progression. It changed HOW you progress.

If you like GW2 so much and apparently dislike how ESO works so much, why don't you play that game and let those of us who like the game the way it is play this one? Unless you can provide evidence to the contrary, I'm pretty sure ESO is much more successful than GW2. ESO has a quarter of a million more followers on Twitch than GW2.

Reddit is by far the biggest ESO community on the internet (many times bigger than these forums). It's also a quick and easy way to see what the community agrees/disagrees with since unpopular ideas get downvoted.

And where did I say I like GW2 more than ESO? Your side keeps saying that an MMO without vertical "progression" will die. GW2 is proof that your argument is invalid.

And literally the single biggest selling points of One Tamriel were the introduction of scaling and the removal of artifical in-game barriers. That is why people flocked to the game. Sandbox elements are the future of gaming. The entire industry is moving in that direction. The days of level-gated content are gone.

Fun thing about forums be it this one, Reddit or any other forum is they represent a very minuscule portion of the entire game population and are not reliant in determining what the majority of players opinions are.

There are better sandbox games. If you want a never ending game you need vertical progression. “Power Creep” is code for I can’t beat someone. It’s the same as “nerf it cause it killed me.”

This has been happening in this game for a while now from all the PVP whiners complaining that someone killed them, therefore, nerf sorcs, or nerf snipe, or nerf nightblades....
Far too many characters to list any more.

Cp don’t need to be increased unless the system is going to have dramatic change. It was to help strengthen you in particular categories, but there’s so many champion points already that you can just about fill everything.

Well this is what happen with VR rank a lots of peole said it was to hard so we got chap point from people that had it in another game.As i was VR16 And worked hard to get it i didnt like champ points at first but i dont want them to go away i think it should be caped at 810 for combat skills add another tree to non combat skill so it will still work but cp was caped at 3500 from back when it was made.

The Champion system has been the cause of a lot of problems in the game, it has been like this for years now and the player base has called the devs out on it countless times. Now the devs are beginning to act upon it, its not so much as the system will be removed or stop progression, but they are putting it on hold for an unspecified amount of time in order to figure out how to improve it or change it entirely with something else.

Progression will still continue in the future, however until they deal with the problem then they will be putting a temporary cap on the power creep.

If you've already done everything... why do you want more champion points.. what good will they do you?

Nothing, they just want endless points to chase. They should replace CP with "Extra super duper special points" except these new points do nothing. But you get a little pop up on the screen saying "You got another point! you are so special" That way these meaningless progression people would stay happy and the rest of us won't have to deal with the nightmares that power creep creates.

Quit making fake arguments. 10 CP in each tree per DLC may be a tiny increase in overall power, but it can be significant if spent wisely. My frags might only hit 1% harder at 810 cp compared to 600 CP, but if I put the extra points in physical damage and penetration, I can use Dawnbreaker much more effectively than a lowbie. That's huge.

Don't pretend that the rest of us only care about "meaningless progression". We have plans for each and every CP, I can assure you.

So why should i continue playing this game ? I already have achieved everything. There is nothing to do now to progress.

    Agreed.

Dude, ZOS could give me all 1,400 of my champ points and I would be like 3% stronger, who cares. With the changes to the CP system last time around making the diminishing returns of a star so sharp, and 810 of them already floating around there is little "progression" left in the system.
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

I don't want a CP increase if it means I will have my class nerfed again and again. I don't; especially not to satisfy a player's imaginary sense of "progression."

All the people worried about power creep? Why not just make enemies have larger hp pools?

That's the lazy way...they need to overhaul the design in general and add more mechanics that actually punish DPS on a when, where, and how basis in PvE so its not too stale. But I could have sworn ZOS doesn't take suggestions, so eh...
