As some have said, they believe dragons are lore breaking. Uesp.net is a repository of all existing Elder scrolls lore. It is a wonderful resource and actually just fun to read on various subjects.

As for dragons, here are three links that are useful (one of which is just the main uesp.net link).

https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Main_Page

https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Dragons

https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Tiber_Septim

If you ever have any lore questions, it is here or doesnt exist (and no, I dont work for them, just am very impressed by whoever has the inclination to collect all this info).

To anyone that complains about dragons being extinct obviously are unfamiliar with the series use of unreliable narrator and must not have much lore experience outside skyrim.

This, do not engage in discussion with lorelets. If you do, remember that Skyrim was their first and only game in this series before ESO and you need to be gentle with them.

    speaking of skyrim in particular
    https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Atlas_of_Dragons

This was before esos timeline and only has their "known" to live dragons. and there was what atleast 2? in redguard.

The dragons in Elsweyr were sealed away behind that door so they wouldnt have been accounted for/known of really probably.
