All you care about is level progression in a game that focuses heavily on story and exploration?
There is another name for that type of entertainment, it is a bit arcane so maybe you have not heard of it.
It is called a book. They are much cheaper than ESO and for storytelling most tend to be far superior.

But book doesn't make you feel like you are taking part in the story.

The none CP fans in this game are very vocal group. Much of what they say is correct however, there is a significant amount of people that play MMORPG that play to make thier toons stronger over time... People play games for different reasons and telling them the reason they are playing is wrong is a waste a breath.....
I've never been at a point where the 30 CP in the next patch is what excites me for it. It's always the new content, features, and balance. If that 30 CP is the draw, they have bigger issues than progression with the game.

Because they want to feeeeeeeel Powerful. And they get bored with what they have so they want more power. And to have more cookies than other people because they worked harder (read:grinded) for them.
When Champion points were first introduced and unlimited, there were people that grinding to 1000 in less than a month. They had a HUGE advantage over other players in PvP, and they loved it. It made them feel like gods stomping insects and they thought they were so good at the game. Some people just have to measure e-points. I don't know why.

Exactly. This game first ran with veteran levels then CP which was in truth not much different as far as vert prog goes. To take away vert prog after 5 years will effectively create an NGE like it did in Star Wars galaxies. The was literally the beginning of the end of that game which resulted in shutting down the servers.
It is a safe bet the majority of the players play this game for power progression, this is the common experience in MMORPG's.
