Maintenance for the week of December 22:
• NA megaservers for maintenance – December 22, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – December 22, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)

A total of 15 seconds spent talking about performance. Wow.

When I have to pay additional money for a VPN just to have my ping be below 500, because Zenimax doesn't want to sort things out with Akamai, or better, disable the DDOS protection when they aren't actually being DDOS'd, I have a right to complain.

Sounds like a "get better internet" issue. My ping is fine.

but they have time to create a pvp obtainable (by doing quests...) which is ironic because you cant see pets in pvp... and servers are so laggy people freak out if you bring a pet into trial.

wish basic aspect would be focused before everyone leaves for anthem and all the other games.

    Sure

So many people have performance issues with teso while other games are running fine but let s blame users , much easier

Exactly, they acknowledged it just like the usual and basically Rich's response was "we are aware of the problem and are working on it". Like, a lot of the issues with bugs and server performance has already been addressed this way. They've always said it's hard to fix a lot of these performance issues, they might as well have just skipped that tab instead of rubbing it in. But I get it, they make money selling shiny new things not fixing the old broken content

Yes, totally a "get better internet" issue.

When there's an 8 page thread detailing how the abyss that is Akamai's data scrubbing center adds at least 100ms onto the ping, with traceroutes showing exactly when and where that 100ms is added.

When said thread shows some traffic being routed to the Netherlands within Akamai's network. (Why the *** would my Australian traffic need to go through Europe to get to NA?)

When the issue affects more or less all OCE users, including those from Australia, New Zealand, and various parts of Asia.

When using a VPN which dumps my traffic directly into the US literally halves my ping, because it is bypassing the *** that Akamai's network is doing.

Yes, totally a "get better internet" issue.

Next time, read the thread before replying with ignorant nonsense.

There is one for all OCE users. Turn the damn DDOS protection off, considering the game isn't being DDOS'd. Instant 100ms+ drop in ping. Wanna know how I know? A VPN does the same by bypassing the horrendous route my traffic takes within Akamai's black hole.

Guys, one question: what did Rich say yesterday, what they want to work on this year performance-wise? "fixtures", "" figures", fictures"? English is not my native language, so iam noch sure, what he's talking about :(

They did mention IC as a seperate campaign, which might improve performance a bit.

But we have to wait and see. When Cyrodill performes bad... trials also perform bad around that time. So it's server wide it seems to me,

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

How the hell am I meant to "git gud" when the game's DDOS protection is genuinely causing my ping to sit around 500, just sitting in a random zone? What, am I meant to move to the US where I, gasp, still get ping spikes because the game's servers are atrocious?

    Get outta here, clown.

If you can't tell by now that I'm just trying to get a rise out of you (which is very easy, by the way) then I think it's time for you hop off the forums for a bit. You're getting cranky, and quite frankly, I don't think you have the bandwidth to handle an argument against me. ;)

I dont get why people are still upset about the performance, I mean ESO, or more commonly known as LSO (Loading Screen Online) has been like this since its Release.
Its pretty obvious that the engine is flawed in its core. I dont think they can actually do anything about that.

I am getting cranky, because I have to pay extra for a third-party VPN service to do Zenimax's job. Jesus christ, just saying it shows how ass backwards it is.

they can do something about whatever is going on.

if they are looking at a long term solution like world of warcraft, they can update to vulkan. my understanding is blizzard was working on their new api since 2016.

the latest december 2018 drivers from nvidia in conjunction with the directx12 implementation from blizzard have delivered great improvements over dx11, something very difficult to achieve for nvidia users. most people see a 30% increase in frames, others up to 35-45%, and amd users have also seen similar dx12 improvements.

    server side:
-immediately change to 64 bit if only running 32 bit(lol, who knows)
-consider hardware update. consider leaving intel for amd's 32 core chips or the 64 core chips coming this summer. if high clocks are required over cores: intel's 6154 does all cores @ 3.7. amd's 7371 does all cores @ 3.6, with swappable version likely offered this summer that should offer best clocks and performance on market.

I thought they already covered this character texture stuff or whatever it is? That was the last fix no? Character loading and whatever? It did provide and FPS boost but that’s not really the issue anymore. Sounds like they just threw in some key words and the rest basically meant they realize it’s an issue but fixing it is beyond their power for some reason they won’t ever tell us.
