A total of 15 seconds spent talking about performance. Wow.

@ZOS_GinaBruno exact words “We know none of this matters if we don’t fix performance” and we were basically told the EXACT same thing we’ve been told since launch: it takes time and it’s being worked on.

Wow. Just wow. Why even out a tab for Performance Updates at the bottom when you’re gonna spend less then a minute on it. Just insulted the whole playerbase.

That pretty much sums it up.. there will be no performance fixes or server upgrading happening with this product.

Come on.. the biggest issue pushed aside like nothing wrong with it.

To be fair, devs tend to talk about content over performance/glitch solving in streams. Even Digital Extremes does this. The performance/glitch solving is usually left only in natch potes.
Welcome, Moon-and-Star, to this place where destiny is made.

I play healers or DPS often for vet dungeons and trials (NA, CP810+). I play mostly elves or Argonians.
I primarily play Damage-Based stuff in PvP, but occasionally I'll play something tanky or got the heals.
I also love gaining more knowledge both metaphysical and mundane regarding TES lore.

I also occasionally role-play, but I prefer playing the game.

He doesn't seem to know what this "fixture" thing is that is going to be addressed. There's your confirmation that performance is NONE of their concern apparently. I doubt texture streaming has anything to do with the performance.

To be fair the performance have kept declining and declining without any updates on these forums and elsewhere.

It is the biggest downfall of the product and biggest reason why many are spending less and less time with the product.

The stream made it sound like non-issue... vague 6-8 months ETA and that is it.

I'am not "worried" about gaming streams but that they finally start doing something about these obvious issues.

It is quite obvious that they are NOT doing anything but the same "ignore / silence" treatment that they have been doing ages.

I mean obviously they won't go like:

"Hey, we know our game runs like a piece of *** and we're going to tell you exactly why for the next hour".

The point of those streams is to attract customers and make them buy the product, not to tell them just how buggy said product is.

    It's pretty sensible really.

whats all the fuss about, he said it clear, its not that easy to be fixed, they are looking at it though and we can expect smth in the next 6 to 8 months. If it were that easy they would ve fixed it long ago... aside from that, they said it IC will be its own campaign and removed from Cyro, to lift weight from the servers...

You really expect communication or separate stream from ZoS addressing the issue?

What are they going to do? Explain their code and server performance woes in fine detail?

All they can do and should do is acknowledge a problem and make a promise to address it.
Seems like 15 seconds worth of communication to me.

I never said I expect it, I'm simply pointing out that there's no way in hell they'd slap an overview of their game's horrendous performance in the stream showcasing their new expansion.

Performance improvements are usually done hush-hush just like today's one (it removed my stuttering related to the big guild I'm in for the most part) and just slipped into the patch notes.

The fact is that performance has been horrific and declining... I can understand that it is their "pr" stream but they have been ignoring the blatant issue for years now and it has really bad nowdays.

    I mean, let's face it.

It's not even the performance only.

They still haven't fixed the bug which Summerset introduced with flickering textures and graphical glitches and artifacts all over the zones.

We can only HOPE that something will be done in the upcoming year to address all of this.

Just look at this thread, and it's not the only one:

Didnt expect them to talk much about game performance issue on an announcement stream anyway.

I have the opposite experience, had an much better time in Cyrodil than during last event or even 3 months ago then I last did it. One loading screen and 2-3 lag spikes, once by doing town quests with a couple of other players, other was in major clashes, but say trials has more of them now.
For Cyrodil focus now should be to increase the population cap. I want the insane zergs we had at launch. Battalions clashing.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

This, its not sexy and often pretty embarrassing for the devs.

And yes better servers help, its an brute force solution like hunting ducks with an battleship but it works.
    https://www.supermicro.com/products/system/7U/7089/SYS-7089P-TR4T.cfm
224 cores with hyper-treading and 12TB ram should help a bit.
Some has $100K to spare I'm sure you get an fast line to Vivec :)
Probably cheaper than all the time they tried to fix problems.
And on PC, do some system check, you are not questing here, most graphic setting on the potatoes are sett up for looking good questing, not then some 100 AoE is popping every second.
Have an separate graphic setting for trials and Cyrodil.

Rich did say it wasn't easy but they are looking at improving fixture, whatever that is, loading and the way they handle characters as they currently load all of the character information for sounded to me whether it is needed or not. In the main broadcast he also said they were splitting IC from Cyrodiil and that was expected to help performance there. Only time will tell if they are effective changes but you have to start somewhere.

Its funny cause they were supposed to start a few years back. Its literally the same crap every freaking year. Hey we are going to do this and that to improve performance. And here we are again. Its ok thought, i bought it last time too.
