Trying to figure out reasons for Bound Armor change

Bound Armaments occasionally saw use in my build and I liked the armor outfit it gave, but the change doesn't make much sense to me. What prompted it to change to a reactionary blocking skill rather than a simple toggle like pets? Bound item spells have never worled like this in an Elder Scrolls game.

    It’s better now because you can single bar it without having to recast.

    Bound Armaments gives a slight max stamina and light attack increase (but not heavy) when slotted and extra blocked damage for like 3 seconds when used, plus no nice silver daedric armor effect. To me it's a straight up nerf. I'm going to respec out of it entirely now.

    I'm not sure what prompted the change really but it does have it's uses like allowing you to block the entire zaan damage in vSCP if you just cast it while blocking.

    Well it's infinitely better so what's the issue?

    You trade 1k resist for a bar space and block mitigation.

    Would you slot a skill that only gave you 1k resist?

    Slight is an understatement, I get like 3k on my build. This is a straight up buff, light attacks are like 25% of your DPS. So any buff to them is huge.

    I hate the visual nerf of this skill. They should make it so we always see the aura when this skill is sloted AND we get the full armored version (the old one) when the skill is activated

    Oh yeah they had already changed the visual didn't they?

    I might want to reconsider this skill after thinking about it, but I don't have room to slot it :)
