Is buying crowns allowed?

Hi all,

I was wondering if I would be breaking any rules if I bought crowns with in game gold? I don’t want to get banned or anything.

The reason being is my daughter has started playing the game with me, and I thought that would be a cheaper way for me to get her all the DLC’s than me buying her subscription.

I don’t subscribe anymore so can’t use the monthly crowns I would get.

How does the process work if it is allowed?

You can't (shouldn't) buy the crowns themselves with gold, but it is allowed to pay someone with gold to gift you the item you want.

From everything ZOS has stated it's fine to trade Crown Items for Gold.

There are even dedicated communities for it where you can find more reputable dealers than going off ones found in zone chat.

As long as no real world money changes hand for items and it's a purely gold for items from the store it appears ZOS is fine with it.

IRL bucks for items is not.

Lingo in game seems to be WTB 2000 crowns, then when you get a seller you day you want the X pack. The issue is one of you has to trust, i.e. Go first

PC has some communities setup to protect that but if you trade with a known / named player from an established guild and film the transaction in text chat

Yes it’s allowed and on PC at least is very controlled and safe if done through TCE discord.

Personally wouldn’t want to try and do it through zone chat since the risk is so great and at 400g per crown (pc eu) it can be very expensive.

In terms of how it works, the person purchases the item in the crown store and selects gift and then sends to you and you can then claim it to receive it. You then give the person the gold for it at agreed rate.

If you’re on PC I’d recommend joining the TCE discord’s and all sales are done through brokers and keep your purchase safe. Not sure if console have anything similar

Yes. Do not use a middleman as they are unnecessary and just take a cut of your money for no reason.

Just make sure both you and the person you are buying from agree in the game chat to the exact transaction (X gold for Y crown store item gift) so you can report them if they scam you.

Yes its allowed. I bought my imperial edition with it and very happy.

Think about it. ZoS basically just earns more money this way. People that wouldn't buy crown store items now have a way too with grinding gold. Players still in the end have to purchase crowns to gift the item.

Win Win for them.

Just got the first 4 dlcs for 5500. It’s costing me 1.1 Million, 200 per crown.

Daughter is happy and I’m not out of pocket with any subscriptions.

200 is over the odds. A couple of reputable members of guilds I belong to on Xbox NA sell for 100 per.

This. Gina has spoken to this specifically. Gold and what can be purchased with crowns are all considered in game items.

Thanks for the advice, I will try and get it cheaper for the next DLC.

I was happy with 200 as a few quoted me up to 400 per crown.

I have played this game for a few fair years so in game gold is easily obtainable when you trade etc. I’m just glad this option is available as it allows me to get all the stuff I want without paying real money.

Anything that encourages someone, somewhere, to buy Crowns is always going to permitted.

Personally I am hoping for a Communication Crate to be added to the Crown Store - you get actual support or a single forum response when you buy ten.

The people I was talking to about trading were using the crowns they get from monthly sub. It seems a fair few people have a lot saved up lol...
