It's all a matter of timing. The forums should have equal coverage but reality is it does not work that way. Now they have a choice, do they let the information stand because it's been out for x amount of time or do they shutdown the threads and go after the dataminers and all that has spread the information further for violating the tos.

ZOS has learned from this and only put in things they want us to find. Things that are going to happen and things that are just scribblings on a chalkboard.3 -

I seem to recall the devs stating that datamining specifically isn't actually a violation of the ToS, since they know its going to happen anyway. And devs have actually commented on datamined stuff, like dialogue for a very early version of the main quest.So the Dark Elves have weird alien architecture, where people live in mushroom towers and the shell of a giant crab, but the High Elves, the pinnacle of technology, the most magically advanced race in Tamriel, are still stuck in slightly pretty, fairly tall stone buildings? Not even a hint of a glass city? Are stainless glass windows really enough to claim that a city is made of glass?1 -

Data mining is no violence of it though.
If devs put that stuff into the client, they want it to get datamined. There are ways to hide or encrypt all of that stuff, like FFXIV usually does it or like Blizzard did it with the recent WoW expansion. Not everything was hidden and encrypted but special parts where (story related content).
If ZOS doesn't do this they either don't care about data mining or just want it to get data mined to get free advertising and build hype indirectly.

If they didn't want people to find it, they'd hide it (or are incompetent) and delete threads. They've never deleted a data mine thread.

We now know to be vigilant and look out for nerfs to other classes in order to make necromancer look more attractive. To spot huge inaccessible areas in Elswyr so we know we are getting another DLC sized piece of content dressed up like a chapter.
ZOS likes to just put the drop on us so it's nice to be prepared.0 -

✭datamining = free hype. Its not like the devs dont know that ppl datamine like crazy. imo they put new assets in on purpose, to get feedback before committing to sth.
Funny though on Fallout 76 they close those threads so fast and don't want it talked about. I am curious as to why Zenimax Online allows it but Bethesda doesn't. I guess they are different companies after all and not just in name that I was lead to believe.Not my quote but I love this saying
