As the event goes on its way, we have new and old going into pvp. What words of wisdom would you give them?

Have a mount with full stamina/speed training; build for survivability in the beginning instead of putting everything into damage, and use impen gear if possible; have a non-conditional self-heal; join a group that plays for the map, and start doing some capture quests--smaller groups with comminucation, whether written or voice, are better; get siege and learn when/how to use it; most importantly, not get scared if they get ganked/attacked, just shake it off, look at the recap on what got them, and devise a plan how to get better little by little each time.

    1) Impen is a very important trait to use on armor in PVP. Your Divines gear makes you very vulnerable.
    2) Doing Intro to Cyrodiil quest gives you skill points you can use to unlock Rapids. Makes riding here and there easier.
    3) If you want to group with others in a big group, try to have voice com like Discord. Even listening and not talking helps.
    4) Situational awareness is very important. Watch the map for conflicts marked by crossed swords on the map.
    5) Keep Transport Stones are useful, well worth 20k each.
    6) Don't be afraid to /stuck if you need to get back to your home keeps quickly.
    7) Invisibility potions and Detect potions are worth slotting, and will become your friend.
    8) You will die. Get over it now.
    9) You can share Cyrodiil quests, don't be afraid to take a friend along and both work on the same quest to have each other's backs.
    10) Food/drink buffs are very important, having resources to sneak and break free are beneficial. You will often get targeted for a gank if you run 16-18k health, try to aim for 22k+ health when buffed by battle spirit.

    8) You will die. Get over it now.

Yeah, the most important lesson here.

I wouldn't say, "get over it," but, expect to die. That doesn't reflect on you as a player. A lot of us have been in there way longer than you have, and have gotten quite adept at snuffing our fellow players.

In normal content, death is a failure, in PvP, it's just part of the game.

Learn to laugh at your demises. Seriously.

Also, having friends along for the ride is absolutely vital to enjoying it. They're what makes this fun. Maybe that's true of normal PvE content as well, but it's especially true when you step into Cyrodiil.

Ok, get over it may have been a bit blunt and bitter. What I meant was that if/when you die, don't take it personally, and don't feel defeated, even if you get t-bagged or whispered by some knuckle-dragger.

Use a champaign where your alliance is dominate. It basically gives you a Card Blanche to travel and do your thing in Cyro. Also screw pvp.

    1) You cannot leave Cyrodiil using the transitus shrines or the menu you used to get in. You have to go back to your home base and look for a wayshrine in a far corner, and use that to get out. (Not that I think leaving is the first thing new people will want to do, just that it's the thing I've seen most people, myself included, get stuck on.)

    2) Don't waste your time staying off the roads, keeping to the shadows or sneaking in the open to avoid enemy players unless you already know they're nearby. Unless you're in an area of high activity (like a building which is currently under attack) you could go for ages without seeing another player so you'll waste a lot of time trying to stay hidden from people who aren't even there. It's better to just get to your destination quickly.

    3) Also the terrain blocks off areas of the map to force you to go through gates/past forts. If you don't want to engage in PvP it might seem like staying way out in the wilderness is the best options but it's often impossible. Oh and you can't swim in Lake Rumare either - just like in Oblivion it's full of slaughterfish, but you can't fight these ones.

    4) There is no way to sneak through an enemy controlled gate - the NPCs guarding it will always find and kill you. There's also no way around it except the new goat trails (which I haven't tried using yet but if I remember correctly there's 1 for each gate) and you can't attack them solo. (And unfortunately the NPCs always know which Alliance you're with, even if your race doesn't match.)

    5) Sooner or later you will be killed by another player. It's not a big deal (even if they dance around like an idiot acting like it's some huge achievement), just resurrect and try again. Although if you were killed at a skyshard or something bear in mind they might be a ganker who is lurking there waiting to pick off new/inexperienced players for easy kills because they're not up to real PvP, so it might be better to go somewhere else and go back there later on.

From a point of view of a quite novice PVPer, the tips to enjoy Cyrodiil:
    - Wear impen gear, it really helps you survive. First time I attended to PVP, I used my PVE gear (divines VO, TFS and Velidreth) it felt like I melted every time an enemy looked at me, my attacks did next to nothing to others.
    - Have your horse speed maxed and slot rapid manouvers when you're riding your noble steed. Cyrodiil is a vast zone, so you'll be riding almost half of your playtime.
    - Be ready to die and do not take it personally if you get killed. It is a natural part of PVP, you kill some, you'll die to some. It is not so bad to die.
    - Do not be afraid or ashamed to zerg. Try to join a group, because rarely you're talented enough to 1vX from the get-go.
    - Follow the commands of your leader/more experienced allies. They've been here longer than the novices, they know what to do and what to expect.
