I turn everything off. Say/zone/yell. It saves a lot of headaches. I don't think I've ever gotten a spontaneous tell ever in this game.

Yep. First thing I EVER did in WoW (which was my first ever MMO - that was back in 2006), ditto RIFT, tritto ESO. I don't care to sell stuff in chat (I don't need gold that bad), and I actually don't care about/don't want to see all the chat pane garbage.

I have got a few tells from people - guild recruiting mostly. I put them on ignore. I don't accept guild invites out of nowhere - if you want to talk to me about a guild, well fine, let's start there.... with why your guild has something to offer me, or what you think I have to offer your guild....

Otherwise, I don't want the guild invite from nowheresville....

*sigh* It shouldn't be. RP is a viable option in games. I don't go there myself, but I do write fan-fic (which is RP by another name....)

That would be more on those others who chose to target because of a User ID, rather than on the OP.

OP there really are great guilds where people become friends and have fun in the game knowing it is a game. Don't let the negative players ruin that for you. Trust me that kind of toxic attitude doesn't fit well with more people then not. Please check the guild section of the forums and see if you find a fit. Good luck :)

Also, a playlist doesn't hurt. So I think everyone should put a song that they like for the OP to listen to that is one of your favs....."Camila Cabello - Havana"

I'm sorry to hear you are having troubles. If I were you, I would do 2 things. I would create a guild (which you can do easily) and use it as your personal bank. Make a chat tab that has only your guild chat enabled. Therefore no chat. You can also play in offline mode, and you won't be able to receive whispers.

I know this feeling, lately I spend my time in offline mode and I only use trade guilds.

I'm looking to start a 10 man full access bank share guild (with further aspirations), looking for anyone, don't care what level. Just want some friendlies to chill with and help out, along with some extra room for loot. Very casual, if interested lmk.

Only problem is you have to have a minimum number of accounts in your guild in order to unlock a bank, and while I'm not 100% sure I think that number is 10.

Which platform you're playing ? And region, na, eu? I dont play much, but we can play random normal dungeon or do some world bosses together or just goof around at pvp. Im EU PC.

Eso has really nice and friendly community, you probably met people who make dark jokes , trolls, or teasers but even they are not wishing anything bad to you, they're just playing their own game, dont take it to your heart. Wish you all the best, stay strong.

I keep the Chat box on in my game, but I turn off "whispers" (also known as "tells"). I recommend you doing that so you'll enjoy the game more. There's a way to turn it off by right-clicking on the Chat box where it says "Chat," then clicking on "options" and uncheck the box next to "tells". It'll prevent bullying if you're playing solo.
*Edit* I had to edit my instructions for how to turn off tells, because I didn't get it quite accurate the first time.
Turning off whisper can be a bit of an problem at least on PC. Very often people whisper back if you ask about something like invite to dungeons / trials or other stuff.
Its easy to just click on the player and then write. Also tidier than replaying in guild or zone chat.
If some want to insult you I would expected them to use zone chat.

I would rather block the guy harassing you, this sort of guys are very rare.

If you want to use whispers again, then of course you'd have to turn it on again. It's zero problem on PC, actually. That's what I play on.

You need 10 people to unlock the bank, but once its unlocked it stays unlocked even if everyone else leaves the guild.

I think your ideology about guilds is a bit flawed. For the most part i think guilds act as a good sorting tool for the better players in eso. Meaning *** usually dont last long in them and only the quality people stick around.

Ive met maybe a handful of decent players from zone chat, like 3 of them come to mind. The majority of the friends I have made are from guilds I joined

give guilds a try, dont give up after a few bad guilds. Pvp lfg is a great place to find guilds. Run with them for a few hrs, get the idea of what theyre like and before you log off, if you liked them then as for a guild inv. Find one you like, do things with them and I think you will be surprised by how many new friends you have made and the people you have to do things with

Telling is a part of online gaming. I've done it, it's happened to me. It's a cycle, personally I suggest getting used to it where it doesn't bother you, but I grew up with it irl. *** and a**holes as well as being physically bullied. Recently, I've seen kids taught it's the bullies fault, which it is for sure, but unlike when I was a kid they aren't taught how to cope. Just to feel like a victim and that they cant do anything about it. That is the problem

I've noticed a lot of L2P holier-than-thou hollow noobs need to learn to play themselves.

Same. I noticed a severe uptick in this in the past few months.

Seems like the average DPS and player skill in vet dungeons has dropped substantially, but the butthurt has increased dramatically.

I see it too, the average ones are becoming increasingly fed up with free loaders doing low AF dps. Now they jump in the moment i call out the snipe spammer. I actually think it’s a good thing.

If this is serious, I must say that I disagree OP. In my experience, this game tends to have a much friendlier community than most MMOs. Sure, there are going to be *** everywhere you go on the internet, but don’t let a few bad apples ruin the whole pie for you.

(I guess that doesn’t really make sense. If you have a couple of bad apples in your pie, then the whole thing probably will taste like crap, but you get what I mean)

Unless it was changed, I'm pretty sure you have to have 10 members at all times to have full access to a guild bank. I was in a guild with some friends so we could have a guild bank to stash stuff in, but I ended up having to leave it for another actual guild and I'm pretty sure everyone else was locked out of putting stuff in it, as there were only 10 of us. You won't be locked from withdrawing things, but no one will be able to deposit stuff if there are 9 or fewer people.

As for OP, if you want you can add me as a friend, if you're PC NA :3. I can craft stuff for ya, run content with ya, and give you all sorts of really bad advice XD.

I've found almost no one in chat worth bothering with.

That actually changed yesterday, when someone else posted requesting assistance in defeating a boss. I responded, we teamed up, and actually made a pretty good team (I'm kind of a combo tank/DPS and he was a healer, so I stood there doing all the damage - and taking it all, lol - and he just kept me healed up. We were even able to do some synch spells as well

    I was quite happy :)
