Gunny sacks should give a map to a ultra rare fishing spot that allows you to fish up the equivalent of that “undaunted plunder” item that vendors for 1k that we were getting for the event.

So you fish; you get a gunny sack; you get a map; you go to the special fishing spot; and then when you fish there you can get: some beer, a blue fish for that region, 1k “chests”, furniture, etc.

Maybe have to unlock a map to a small special area?

A tiny instanced area about the size of the hunting grounds for the intro to werewolf quest. Sounds good to me

Its ok but there isn't a lot of incentive. Something like a daily fishing quest would go a long way in improving fishing. Catch x amount of type of fish at y location. Return with your catch and get a decent reward.

Not only it's terribly boring, there's also nothing in it for you apart from almost non-existing roe. If there were some more value to it...

But also locking useful nice things (like motifs) behind it is an abhorrent idea.

I don't like fishing in ESO because:
    - Feels slow. It should be interactive and faster, or fully AFKable and slower.
    - Feels unrewarding, 1 Roe every 200 or so fish doesn't get me to stop everything else I am doing.
    - I feel like the rate of getting perfect roe is much lower than other resources because fish are accumulated slower. This ends up making gathering other materials better time2money efficiency, nullifying any point to fishing in the first place. Except for title hunters of course.

Fishing is something you do in RL!! Go out and actually take in some real nature. Perhaps indulge with some real skooma (AKA beer) and chat with a friend or family member while you do it.

Fishing in this game for me is only a means to an end. Getting the components I need to fuel my PvP toons with drink and food buffs. I honestly hate it. Sure it can be a little relaxing, but unless they add mass fishing nets, it's an enormous waste of my time. I could buy the Roe or w/e...sure. But I prefer to be self reliant when I can. Even if that means wasting a couple hours on a pointless task in this game =/

I enjoyed fishing quite a bit in the first 6 months of playing the game. Back then I didn't know how to play well and it was a very good source of income for me. I rarely fish anymore now as I am a better player overall and have more compelling activities to spend my time on and more reliable sources of income.

No. Don't like it, won't do it. I fished - once. Sorry, burned out on fishing in WoW and RIFT. I'm NOT fishing in this game. There's not one thing can be done to make me change my mind on that.

To be fair to Rift, they did make fishing a lot more fun that most other MMO's.

I wish there was more to it. But I also wish there was a comprehensive gardening system that aloud me to plant, maintain and harvest resources within the confines of my home instead of being a gatherer. Someday... maybe.

I just started doing fishing and I enjoyed it more than I thought but it could be better. As others said, it should be a skill line.

Add hunting to it and expand the possible rewards and include the chance for extremely rare drops or motif pages (looking at you Bouyant Armiger) and they could be tied to the region you’re fishing in. They could add dailies that have you go out and find specific fish or game to hunt.

Also they could add a safari feature to your home to have rare exotic animals grazing in open plots of land you can acquire. Additionally maybe have a feature for a hatchery in said plots of land and possibly intertwine some survival elements. This would allow for some potential resource gathering in your home environment.

Fishing is fine. Not terribly exciting, but a nice way to cool down after some PvP or crazy dungeons. I do it mostly for the achievements and the furnishings (when they were actually dropping). I got master angler a long time ago and fish every new zone that comes along.

Vangard had one of the better interactive fishing set-ups. I also enjoyed the crafting methods they had going, although that could be a bit stressful. Too bad the game had so many other issues. A few of its features really deserve to be represented in some newer games.

As far as fishing in ESO? It isn't exactly engaging. Push a button, wait a second, push another button, see what the range gods gifted you. Not much better than a free watered down version of the crown crates. Crafting is even less enjoyable. No surprises at all unless you decide to go short on tempers while improving. X+Y=Z every time you click, no variation, no skill required. Just enough patience to do the research and track down the materials and recipe/motif.

I love fishing. I do it when something interesting is on TV or radio. Only thing I hate is if I have 220 or more fish and after filleting them I only get 1 Perfect Roe. Yet, I do make a heck of a lot of gold with those, just by selling 2 at a time.

The rewards for fishing and the reasons to fish need buffing. Click to cast, reel in, catch a fish, rare fish, more bait (really? I'm fishing for bait?) or a gunny sack with more often than not a TA rune in it. Spend and hour fishing and get 1 perfect roe, sometimes more sometimes none depending on RNG. The only expansion that gives rewards to make fishing remotely worth casting the pole in the water is the summerset where the bottles might give a useful item in the bottles unless one is going for the master angler achievement. There is no skill involved, no skill line needed, no chances to do anything to improve your RNG to catch something useful.

Why can't there be daily quests for fishing that allow players to work towards a "fishing pole" (buff) that increases the chance of finding nice items in those gunny sacks? (zircon grains, riding lessons for newer players, furniture recipes: i.e. blueprint: fish tank, small, praxis: Statue: Fishing vessel or even better, a very small chance to catch a rare mount or pet from fishing).

Fishing dailies: Catch X (rare fish) rewards x tickets.
    Fishing vendor:
improved fishing pole: increase your chances of catching rare items (gunny sacks, bottles, rare fish by x percent)
Invisible fishing potion: reduces the range you can be detected while fishing by x meters..
    etc
potion or recipe potion: increase movement speed for x seconds after gathering a resource node (I'd like this one personally)

It’s relaxing. I’ll turn off all the in game sound except the ambient sound. So it’s just waves crashing and birds chirping. I’d like to see a skill line for fishing and some quests associated with different fishing cultures through out Tamriel.

No point fishing unless you need some fish to make food or achievment.
