I’m excited about the new class. I don’t like the idea of necromancy either, but I’ve liked the class ever since I had a huge amount of fun with my Guild Wars necromancer. She became my main, even though she was the last class I rolled. Must be about 15 years ago now...

Ugh. It's - abhorrent. Yes, it's always been in TES. No, I've never gone there. It's horrible. Seriously, people - the secondary villain in ESO MQ is Mannimarco - the necromancer.

Nope, don't EVEN tell me about using soul gems. I've never "harvested" souls in all the years I've played TES (since Arena released). Charge your weapons? Eh, who needs to - you can always find something else....

This is the one thing in TES games that I've always had a problem with. And it's the one major thing that will mean I spend no money on ESO for this chapter etc. I may have to blow the bandwidth budget to download the chapter content (yeah yeah I know how all that works), but I doubt I'll be playing it.

Sucks too - because I wanted Elseweyr; but combining it with something repugnant to me means I won't get to enjoy the Khajiit homeland.

Lol. I always have to laugh at posts like this. You won't charge soul gems. But you have no problems being a mass murderer in a video game? HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Ok buddy.

Why would it be mass murder if they are always attacking us first?

Unless you are talking about the DB... which is just as distasteful as soul gems.

Speaking for myself I've always found myself drawn to summoning/pet classes. In Diablo 2 it was Necromacers, in City of Heros/Villains it was Masterminds, in WoW it was Hunters/Warlocks/Deathknights, in Elder Scrolls Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim it was Necromacers and summoners. I just prefer to have minions do my bidding.

Another reason is archtypes. All my chatacters in ESO are an archtype. Wood Elf Warden=Ranger, Dark Elf MagDk=Fire Mage, Breton MagWarden=Shaman, Khajiit Nightblade=Thief. I've wanted to make a Necromancer archtype since day one. And after hearing the news we might be getting one has renewed my interest in this game.

It's just a cool character concept. Killing a tuff enemy then raising them to fight for you just seems cool to me. Lets just hope they aren't too underpowered but not to OP because I've become allergic to nerfs.

Because it's fantasy that allows you to explore the darker side, and raises all kind of interesting ethical questions around the idea of Necromancy. I'm excited to find out the stories developed for it. Aside from that, I just find it fun playing bad or evil characters.

For me...If Sorc hasn't taught me anything I like minions. Also I enjoy anti heroes for lots of reasons. I am too lierate and see most plots that I don't get invited to movies anymore or to sit and watch TV. Anti hero's take unique approaches on standard s that usually reveal unique ascepts of humanity. So as such I don't do boring and for those who always wondered I make a lot of threads cause I like seeing how people think about issues that I think about.

I loved the mageguild quest in Oblivion, which had a lot of necromancers on it. When you defeat Mannimarco at the end you get his staff of worms, and you could resurrect your own slain enemies.
I role played a necromancer from that point.
Also other TES games have necromancer NPC in it. I also want to be one.

Lorebreaking? Not for me. I mean, we also have Dragonknights who are supposed to use akaviri martial arts, and are dragonborn. Well, I see no martial arts but to many dragonborn.

Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Necromancy just allows for so many interesting things to be explored in any world that properly implements it into it's lore. I mean even across Tamriel you will find many different approaches to, attitudes regarding, and methods of necromancy. I mean, even Dunmeri ancestoral worship has elements of Necromancy to it (albeit coming from a place of reverence and respect as opposed to forcing a caster's will onto a spirit but necromancy none the less).

The short of it is Necromancy, when used properly, can be so fascinating and complex. Oh also skulls and zombies and skeletons and such are just a e s t h e t i c really. Just cool stuff.

It's a sort of dark power fantasy that also draws people to Sorcerers and Nightblades.

I'm just upset that this means 50% of all classes have this evil edgelordism to them. Can't we have more noble or neutral classes? A Battlemage, WItchhunter or Spellsword would've fit the current roster much better.

Bard? What are you going to do, sing them to death?

    Red diamond, red diamond...

    or even worse!

    My starlight bride of Alinor...

Bard classes are very misunderstood and misinterpreted. Music in itself is not harmful, but it is the music that creates the magic (like an incantation, magic words, etc but sung instead) and their words and songs inspire their friends (giving buffs) and bring fear to their enemies (drums of war, war cries that debuff the enemy)

In short, they are a super support class!

But more to the point, necromancers are badass! Walking that line between life and death that blurs the lines of mortality, forbidden knowledge, having minions? Unless your a full fledged paladin type person or a Meridia lover, what is there NOT to like?

For me personally it's because I love undead in fantasy settings.

My favourite parts of RPG games (video games or pen and paper RPG) is old crypts and dungeons filled with undead guardians. Necromancers are the player character way to enter that world of undead.

ESO wise it's because I want to play a caster which has a more "dark magic" vibe. I tried with the Nightblade as a soul magic mage and the sorcerer as a Daedric summoner but they don't quite fit the feel I want. Hoping the Necromancer class does.

TBH, I don't know. I'll try it if it's a new class or maybe play with some skills. It's never been on my radar as something I'd look for or advocate for. I loved necro/scourge in GW2, but that mostly had to do with the combat flow and that I love pet classes. The whole concept does nothing for me in and of itself.

I don't understand the appeal either; I've always found that from all the horrible threats the Vestige has heard (it seems like Molag Bal has made a hobby of coming up with super villainous one-liners to serve the Vestige at dolmens ), Voriak Solkyn's 'after I kill you, I shall animate your corpse' was the worst, because it sounds wrong on so many levels. And I'd like to think that after all the Vestige has seen, they wouldn't go there, but then again we don't really know how the class will be handled, so that will be interesting to see.
