If so what makes you like it? If not what disinterested you about it? How would improve it if you could?

Not really any fun...but I want that title. It's a slow process, so I do it now and then.

I did it for the title. Never again. Side activities really are really lacking in eso. Roe was a nice find when I could luck out and grab one every 200 fish or so.

No. Don't like it, won't do it. I fished - once. Sorry, burned out on fishing in WoW and RIFT. I'm NOT fishing in this game. There's not one thing can be done to make me change my mind on that.

How about lockfishing- you play the lockpicking minigame to control your fishing rod, and each kind of fish has a different number of cylinders and different timing! >:)
Playing your character the way your character should play is all that matters. Play as well as you can but never betray the character. Doing so would make playing an mmoRPG pointless.

I wish fishing was a skill line and you craft your rod like staves with different traits and such. Fishing could be sooooooooo much better and more fun!

I did it for Master Angler.

Fishing is also what got me into PVP. I hated the idea of PVP, but I really wanted those Cyrodiil fish.

So I sucked it up, went into Cyrodiil, got my fish, got ganked, got my first kill, got eaten by slaughterfish cause I didnt know you have to use the bridges to cross the river, and left never to return.

Except I'd been bitten by the PVP bug, came back to try it out, then found a great PVP guild, and that's how fishing made me into a PVPer.

    I like fishing in ESO.

I wouldn’t mind if they added a little bit to it like random “weights” to the normal fish and little “personal best!” notifications when you got like a really big salmon. Nothing that takes artwork resources, just some random number and text. Kind of like Animal Crossing.

Also, I wish it was easier to type and fish.

I’d like a vendor to sell mounted versions of the rare fish, I’ve never sold off my “Preposterous Mackerel” for just that reason.

Lastly I once posted an idea for a rusty dwemer sphere construct called “The Fish Wife”. you deposit fish into it and it spits out fillets and perfect roe with the same chance you’d get if you hand-filleted them. it’s just faster and makes for another cute assistant. How we earn it I leave up to the devs.

Well, I'll be the oddball here. I enjoy fishing. After a few hours or more of fighting monsters, running dungeons, and whatever else, I fish to relax. I put on some music, sit back and enjoy the environment, and watch whatever is going on around me.

I have 7 Master Anglers and working on two more.

That a fun idea. We need some interactives.

More power to you. When it gets to be 4pm MT, I get out of game, start dinner, and then once dinner's over with and kitchen cleaned up, I read.

NOT fishing. I actually used to fish (40 years or so ago) IRL. It was beyond boring too.... but it kept husband happy and his mouth shut....

What about adding underwater swimming to the game along with the ability to spearfish unique types of fish (with an increased difficulty and skill required to catch but a far higher chance of perfect roe) and a limited oxygen supply -argonians maybe could stay underwater for a few seconds longer? wouldn't want to make one race too OP for fishing.

Hmm. Isn't underwater not possible with this engine? Thought I read that somewhere. And the whole spear thing (fishing or otherwise) is SO not my thing.

Again, doesn't matter how you wrap it, I'm not opening it. Of course, I'm only one person.

The only time I liked Fishing is when that food gave you double fish - which turned out to be a bug.

Bring it back imo - a lot of people were fishing then. Otherwise it's as boring AF in this game.

It could be an interesting minigame but instead it's boiled down to the most boring thing. press a button. wait a semi random amount of time and press that button again. In most cases, the "special" rewards are trash. Wet Gunny Sacks are horribly out of date. They are worth less than a common fish. Rare fish are great the first time, but once you already have them, you hate seeing duplicates.

I would overhaul the whole thing to make it a bit more enjoyable. Make the minigame aspect a bit more engaging than a button press. Make the rare rewards feel a bit more like rewards and allow me to do something with extra blue and green fish. Perhaps fillet them for higher roe chance.

That sounds like a a cool feature to get people to use different types of food in game.

I do enjoy it. If I'm waiting on a dolmen for FG or geyser in summerset it helps pass the time. I also seem to have the rng luck for perfect roe... Just nothing else lol. :|

Would be nice if there was a mini game involved with fishing. You have to move your rod depending on what the fish does. If the fish runs to the right you move the rod to the left that sort of thing. Give fish different tiers so a harder to land fish has a slightly better chance at producing Perfect Roe. Would also be fun if from time to time you hook a monster that comes ashore and then you have to decide stay and fight or run. Monster should be somewhat close to overland boss in strength. Would make fishing in groups more desirable.

Our guild used to have fishing events and that really helped with the monotony of fishing. I have two characters with master fisherman achievements but doubt I will get another. I fish when waiting for more members in pug trials but that is about it now.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Monster fish sound like a fun addition. Give them so gear sets, some new crafting material and while we can't have underwater in ESO this could be just as fun.

Edit also would be nice to have different tier of monsters making fishing a bit more dangerous.

Have bait of special food for people that want to avoid such fights. Then again maybe the other way around with bait for different types of monsters

I loathed the idea of fishing because it seemed boring. Recently I started working on veteran dungeon achievements and while queued I decided to fish. To my surprise I completed an entire zone within a few hours and found it relaxing. Surprisingly my dog enjoys watching me do this. It’s odd as he doesn’t watch anything else on TV. I think I will work on this after all.

I enjoy it. Would like a lot of content to be added to the fishing system though. And some kind of fishing skill-line, or perhaps even a set to help with looting rare fish faster.

Everytime I felt bored I would just fish and watch netflix or youtube. It was actually peaceful and I kinda enjoyed it. Plus finally getting the title and making 800k off of the perfect roe made it worth the time.

Honestly I love fishing. I spend a lot of time doing it because its fun to challenge myself to see how many fish I can catch before I get a title on a character.
The self challenge keeps it interesting. I've got 6 titles so far and happily working on more just to do my own personal self challenge and push myself to beat my current records.

The self challenge I do calls for restraint. I'm not allowed to filet a single fish till I have my title. Then I count how many I have write it down, then filet them and count how man Perfect Roe I got from that particular character's run.

I get that people find it a bit boring but personally, just IMO, I hope it stays the same. If you want to fish then fish. If you don't then don't but please don't change it for those who actually like the pass time. :3
