Your final paragraph (monster sets, vma weapons) would be 'pay to win'. The mount, vanity items, non combat pets etc, are not.
Either way, you got yours free, right? I got mine, minimal effort, zero impact on my wallet. If its in the store, it costs real money... That's still a bargain in my mind, thus win!
True, I was being over dramatic about adding weapons and armor sets to crown store. I was more of just making the point of its something you put a lot of work into just to then make it easier for everyone else down the road. It makes the prize you get for achieving something less of a achievement if everyone else can just buy it.

Are you proud of your achievements in video games? Relative to other things you do with your life, how important would you say video game achievements are by comparison?
Each to their own in terms of values, but personally I find it odd to attach much importance to something like video game achievements. I also don't care about competition or 'showing up' someone else. Just not my thing. I don't care if someone else can get something I have. It matters not to me, especially when the stuff is virtual.
The issues related to predatory monetization and marketing, however, is entirely something else. But proper discussions about that would go too far into politics, which isn't allowed to be talked about here as I recall.

Glad someone else sees the events as mindless repetitive tasks. It became a chore to do the New Life Celebration for the last two weeks.
I'm trying to figure out the point of events anymore and getting a little frustrated. First event i'm talking of was the gifting event to get the White Gryphon pet and now they are showing it will be in January crown store case the same month we are suppose to get it. That's a big slap to the face. The reason a lot of people participated was to get an "Exclusive" pet, to have something unique that others might not have. But instead it was just a marketing ploy to get people to buy crowns right before the new years to make your numbers look good before EOY... or at least that's what it feels like now. Also some people spent more then 1000 crowns for the event because it was hard to find unique items for exactly 500 a piece so I hope the crown store will not have it for 1000 or less. I feel really cheated here.
NOW even worse, I see that you are going to allow people to buy the event tickets for the indrik mount in the crown store at the end of Q1.... so why everyone else had to put in all the grinding and work to earn their mount and berry's everyone else can just buy it. This makes the mount no longer feel special to me in any way. I loved that I got it, and I earned it, it felt like a special mount because of this and it was something I was able to show off the work I put in. Now it just feels like a waste of my time. I don't even know how to extend my frustration with this. You took something special from the players that work hard for something then just give it away to anyone that wasn't willing.
Might as well start adding all the Monster sets to the crown store next or how about solo arena gear....oh wait maybe I shouldn't give you any ideas.
So disappointed...
I'm not comparing a game to my personal life. But when it comes to achievements that kinda what MMO's are all about. Getting name titles, items, trophies for completing task and events.
My point is why make an event to earn something when it will just be available for easy grabs later. Kinda makes the whole thing pointless in a video game world.

Interesting. Those things are not what I consider this game to be about and I am probably not unique in this sentiment. It sounds like you are more of a gamer than a role-player? Folks who focus on role-play and storytelling like me don't really care much about titles, trophies, contests, or any of that so much. But I totally get how gamer types would be put off by what they perceive as a "cheapening" of rewards. My point is why make an event to earn something when it will just be available for easy grabs later. With the perspective you take on the purpose of game, I can see this being a bother to you. On the flip side, it might help to consider it from a different angle or two. In particular, YOU still know you earned it through blood, sweat, and tears. Someone else going the easy route doesn't negate your own talent and effort, right? Plus, keep in mind that while it may look like easy grabs, many who live on limited means really can't afford (or shouldn't afford) buying stuff like this from the cash shop either. I say take pride in the fact that you earned it the "proper" way and let others do as they will.

So yeah I would say i'm proud of the achievements I get in ESO. Now do those rate higher then my personal life achievements and the answer is no for me. But some people video games are their lives especially for streamers.

One ticket a day is not. 360 tickets required for full completion is quite another.thatlaurachick wrote: »For everyone complaining about "grinding" events... you realize tickets were only granted for the first <quest/skull/etc> of the *day*? If it's a grind to do 1 event-related thing, during the event, maybe buying tickets is right for you.
I do agree that having tickets in the store is a slap in the face. Oh look! A cool way to get more participation in events, how fun! Rewards those who actually play the game! Oh, no, it was just giving out free stuff so latecomers will pay. *sigh*
I love this game, but really, this F2P style monietization is a real turn off. I have ESO+ and many people I play with also have ESO+. Honestly, if you want to have more fun in ESO, get Plus. That finance/marketing feels a sub with occasional store purchases isn't enough is tiring. When will people learn that reasonable prices and good quality is the way to get money out of pockets? Muggings may get money, but it leaves a bad taste.
